CANTLISTENANYMORECan’t listen anymore! TOO MANY ADSLong time listener. There are so many ads I can’t deal with it. Nearly 20 minutes of ads on a 40ish minute podcast is absurd. I don’t mind some ads; I fully understand this is a free podcast, but the hosts have gone overboard and are greedy. Clearly they don’t care about listeners anymore. The show simply isn’t interesting enough to sit through such an outrageous amount of ads.

M A 4Interesting show, more ads than typicalI do like the show, but I find myself skipping most episodes because of the HUGE quantity of ads. Each ad break is multiple ads long, and there are NUMEROUS ad breaks, alternating with short spans of discussion. I know ads are how podcasts stay in business, but the balance of ads vs. content here is worse than I’m used to. Of course you can skip them manually, so do give the show a chance and see if the balance works for you.

rush19towerMindfulMy mind was recently wrecked. STBYM is helping me fill a lot of gaps in.

Joepye1Meteor ironGood subject. Next I suggest you do an episode on American Indian use of meteoric iron. The Hopewell culture, the pueblos, and the Inuit. Thank you.

Guntoten PrincessFascinating TopicsI love all the episodes! As a nerd and anthropologist I love the range of topics covered. Sometimes is sci-fi physics, animals, movies, and more. Even the listener mail episodes are interesting. Great work guys!

lacarinusMudListened to the mud series while hiking around a lake solo for 8 hours. I now know more about mud than I will ever need to. 10/10 would recommend.

BGraetzLove the show! Amazing science facts, monsters and myths, and weird moviesI love the science episodes and have listened for years! Weird house cinema are my go to episodes to listen to over and over in the car! Great hosts that dive deep into topics and I love how they bring together the history, science, mythology and the speculative into a fascinating journey of discovery!
-
EKBSOSWhat’s up with the white noise?!Why did you add that to your “break” aka commercials. It was alarming. I like to listen to you at bedtime where I can ponder. That was jarring!

hooli6969Great show with something for everyoneI’m a huge fan of weird house cinema, it has introduced me to whole host of movies that I may never had heard of much less watched. The show has given me a great appreciation for mid 20th century cinema, the cheesy 80s, and even foreign films most notably out of Czech! My other favorite segments are the inventions episodes. I find taking ordinary every day items and tracing their origins as far back as possible. I’ve also really enjoyed being introduced to different myths, such as Irish and Chinese folk stories. Great show, please continue providing me with one of my favorite podcast that I listen to every day. You both are wonderful hosts, narrators, story tellers, teachers and personalities. We are very fortunate and grateful to have you!

5 star storyGrowing in you!!I love to listen to you guys. But I can’t stand mice or rats. I skipped past that. Thought you’d get a kick out of my story. When I was in 7th grade I inhaled watermelon due to a cough while I was eating. A couple weeks went by and I got sick. I missed several days of school. I went to the Dr. I was admitted to the hospital. I was suffering from pneumonia. I was discharged after 5days. I was on the couch at home and I began coughing so bad and I couldn’t stop!!! I had coughed up watermelon seeds that had begun to grow. The seeds had feelers and her feeding on the infection in my lungs. The only thing I couldn’t give them was light. This is the St. Luke’s medical history.

C&M’s 24/7 Podcast ListLearning, but without the stressWe have podcasts running 24/7 around here (since we work from home) and every pod we subscribe to teaches us something. But sometimes, world news gets too intense and we need a break.. but celebrity-centered fluff is too boring. Enter “Stuff to Blow Your Mind” to save the day! It’s engaging, stays interesting, and usually broadens our horizons about topics we haven’t thought of before. And each episode goes a bit deeper into the research too, so even if we’re familiar with the topic, we still usually learn something. Plus Rob and Joe have great radio voices too! I could listen to them read a washing machine manual! Thankfully, they post a Listener Mail episode every week, so there’s no need for that ^^; The pod posts regularly, the topics doesn’t go stale, it sounds fantastic (no fuzzy mics here!), and they don’t have volume spikes/dips either (like so many others do). On top of that, they still post a Vault/Classic episode when the guys take a break. (Life saver!!) For all these reasons and more, we thank you “Stuff to Blow Your Mind”. Been listening for years and we won’t be unsubscribing any time soon <3 P.S. We also can’t sleep without something playing, but I can’t handle repetitive sounds or political stress at night before bed. So I load up a bunch of old “Stuff” podcasts to play through the night (like I am right now lol). But we totally still listen while we’re awake too! It’s meant as a complement bc it’s super helpful to know that I can trust there won’t be any loud noises, jarring transitions, blaring intro music, or people yelling during the night. So shout out to the Production Team! Y’all are awesome <3

Austin sadowskiKept my child curiousMy curious child loved it, I put it on while I make dinner, sleep,do the chores and use the bathroom and the entire time he stays still and doesn’t bother me. I can speak for my whole family when saying I absolutely adore this
-
LBHSfan65Blow my mind with fiction?Either get a new title or more science, I had to go back 100 episodes to find something real “history of odometers” which is a repost from 2022!
-
IdiocricyUghPlease work on developing the presence of mind to, “unquote”, at the end of your quotes. You would do well to represent yourself in a more intelligent manner by practicing this correctly. Otherwise great stuff. 😎
-
Justin mateenthedreamTopicsThis show was founded on awesome science can you please do more of those. Look at the last month zero. All sci fi and fantasy

Sci Teach 20Sleepy mudThis episode on mud put my entire family of science lovers to sleep. Maybe it gets better after the 16 minute mark, but we didn’t make it that far.

thump342023FantasticVery good podcast, wide variety of topics. All episodes I have listened to so far are put together well and the hosts seem very open minded and intelligent. Very good content.

It's alright; I'm a doctor.Never heard so many adsSo, I finally tried to finish even one episode, knowing there would be many ads, but I just couldn’t make it. The ads are that unpleasant.
-
Kneemuh1989More ScienceI love your show, please do more science episodes! P=NP was fire. I feel like most of your stuff now - pun inteded, is weird house stuff.

ChesterossaNeat-oLove this show!
-
More Than A Local BoyLove this Podcast!I love how you guys cover all facets of life from the real life science of how black holes work to cryptic zoology. Recently you did a monster fact about Tyranids from the 40K universe and as fellow fan, I hope you keep this going! Could the 40K universe be a reality? As grim as that sounds, it would be neat to hear your thoughts on the sci-fi aspects 40K explores. Thank you for all your hard work and please keep doing the do!
-
MajgvaubAstrology AdsI can’t believe it’s come to this. Literally every ad break in the episode I just listened to was a double whammy of Astrology and Influencer Drama. iHeart does not care about this show whatsoever, it’s only more ears waiting to be pushed to their more ‘on-brand’ offerings. The stratification of the podcast feed with multiple shows was confusing, but I could at least manually filter what I did and didn’t want to listen to. Robert and Joe are outstanding and I wish they could run this podcast independently — but obviously this is the real world. Alas.
-
Steve James SampsonDeep dives into great topicsI love this show! Some shows like this sound like the hosts looked up a topic on Wikipedia and are reporting back on it. I can do that myself. This podcast is in-depth, digging deep into fascinating topics. Four episodes on mirrors?! Two on tumbleweeds?! Count me in. I like how they approach each episode from a scientific, historical, sociological, and literature perspective. I just discovered it and am looking forward to listening to the back episodes.
-
STABxWESTWeirdhouse CinemaWeirdhouse Cinema is phenomenal and has given me so many new movies to check out. I’ve loved many of the obscure titles this show has turned me on to.
-
mackinolToo much happeningI wish Weirdhouse Cinema was a completely separate podcast.
-
BuffylovesfoodAds that can’t be forwarded over?In a podcast from 2010? C’mon guys…that’s ridiculous.
-
Campst47MehBored to death trying to listen to this. And the one dudes mic is picking up the sound of every but of his saliva.
-
Enda DirraneThe golden age of podcasts in real time.Without a doubt the hosts are two of the most scholarly polymaths with the most beautiful American English, they enunciate and delve their words and ideas so carefully and succinctly. Often Robert is better at putting forth a premise and Joe is better at explaining it. I hope they read this. Listening sometimes is like going home after being caught in life’s mental storm. Their voices are so soothing and ideas so intriguing.
-
cjr1443Great show great thoughtsBest intro music EVER!
-
MargradA once very enjoyable show.Yet another good podcast ruined by iHeart. I have had to unsubscribe to so many of my old favorites which I had listened to for years because they have been chopped up into tiny pieces and wedged between huge ads. Not only that, but the ads tend to be mainly about other iHeart podcasts that I am not interested in. Back in the days when the hosts read the ad copy, I really didn’t care what the ads were about. I listened to them because I liked their voices. Now the injected ads send me snapping around to fast forward though them even if I would like to learn about the product, because the voices, music, and sound effect seem to be tuned to reach me if I have walked away from a TV and out of the room. I listen with headsets and this ads hurt my ears. I tried to keep my phone near me so I could quickly skip the ads, but I am so tired of that now. So … so long guys and thanks for the memories.

dberryoo7Summer break? Why a summer break? Do you paint house’s in the summer like teachers or college students? To many re run episodes. I’m disappointed 👎👎
-
Hates BlueListened for years, butI’ve listened t this podcast for years and loved it. But the commercials have become so obnoxious and jarring I can’t listen anymore. Some of them are as bad as nails on a chalkboard.
-
marketpopInundationReally perceptive episode…well done!
-
Garbage talkInsufferable advertsThe content is passably interesting, but the practice of repeating 3-4 adverts back to back with essentially identical music, timing and script is horrendous. Enough to make me NOT subscribe to this annoying drivel.
-
Frenetic FrankieExcellent podcastThis podcast has been very fun and informative for several years. I have been listening on and off since 2015 and have greatly enjoyed the varied topics that Robert and Joe (and Christian from much earlier in the show’s run) dig into. You’ll find lots of different topics to pique different tastes, and they keep the core episodes grounded with peer-reviewed research and other credible sources. Weirdhouse Cinema is a lot of fun for strange movie lovers, and the Artifact/Monstrefact mini-sodes deserve special mention as well. On a recent Monstrefact episode, Robert recently did a 5-minute breakdown on real-life animals that parallel the egg-spitting powers of Birdo from the Mario games. While no real-life animal is going to actually send human-sized eggs flying at plumbers, Robert’s light-hearted episode showed that the animal kingdom has some examples that are not so far off. A great show, I hope they keep doing it for as long as it pleases them.

amtulyYesEnjoy good many fact. Smart makes you!

RJNC00#1Can’t get enough Weirdhouse Cinema!!!
-
LiLcr0PPodcast is mid nowThis stuff no longer blows my mind. The topics are mid. Used to love this podcast.
-
SeaSiren11UghThey need another title for a podcast on B movies and listener mail. Sad panda.
-
extracheesy28Actually aggravating amount of adsNow, I used to love this show. It was the only thing I listened to. But now there are about twelve ads at the beginning middle and end of every episode and I find that intolerable. I haven’t listened to this show for the past year and a half and have since started listening to The Exploring Series and DnD campaigns rather than an hour of ads with occasional facts.
-
Foxlis007Just great!!!Informative, facilitating and always entertaining! I’ve been listening for as long as I can remember. Host Robert and Joe have a great chemistry and soothing voices. Thank you guys!
-
MeltedMel71Boring, pretentious, affected and full of ads.Need I say more? Ok: Been trying to listen to this for years but just can’t get past the first, say, 10 minutes. Getting old, need fresh ideas and hosts..Maybe a woman or two? smh
-
