I really enjoyed the presentation of this podcast. I started in season 4 but just downloaded all of season 1 to listen to while traveling.

    Love love love.
As a true crime junkie, i really can appreciate when people take the time to put together a story and present it properly. This is one of those shows! Host is great. Audio is great. Interviews are great. Waiting for a new season.

Season 3 is just cop bashing
I feel like this host is just a wannabe BLM, anti Blue lives matter. This was a big blue lives matter and I’m 3-4 episodes in and it has nothing to do with the shooting and is just picking apart this cops life and any mistake he made in his personal life. Liberal, leftist garb…. They’re bashing this cop after he’s dead based on one female cops version. Which I never heard her sat he threatened her job, I heard the HOST bring that up. Sounds like she gave him the wrong idea and then never said no when he asked. Sorry but that’s not a “survivor” that’s not anything. I’m tired of women not wanting to say no and then blaming after the fact. If a guy misreads a situation he isn’t going to know he’s misreading it unless he’s told!

    Annoying!
I can not stand the format of back and forth audio of a narrator one sentence and then the witness/guest the next. More than half the time she (the narrator) says something that is obvious from the next sound clip. It’s like the entire episode is in a preview format. Can not listen to this.

Excellent. This podcast and American scandal are the reason I have a wonder subscription. Favorite podcast of all time BTW I THI NK JANE MONCKTON MAY BE ON CRACK with her paycpbabble about coercive control. I don’t think Kim Have ever disliked anyone more. I think her intention for this unpopular opinion was to remain relevant; please do t invite her back

    Love this podcast!
I’ve listened to seasons 1 and 4 in just a matter of days and they were both some of the best I’ve ever listened too. So well described and investigated. Gotta go pick with season to listen to next!!

    Gone hunting
    Absolutely loved this podcast ..

    Terrible sound editing
Really inconsistent volumes and pace of the speakers. I normally don’t pick up on these kinds of things but it’s unavoidable here.

Boring old news and poorly crafted.
These are all old stories. Everyone already knows the endings. Network shows have already been done to death about these topics. And in the case of “gone hunting” there’s some real strange gaps in their presentation of the narrative. We’re never told about Mike’s boat. In the first episode, people are gathered at a boat ramp there’s a helicopter search, and a friend suggest Mike may have gone overboard, but nobody says they found Mike’s boat. Only at the end in a courtroom confession does anybody mention pushing the boat out into the lake. You spend six episodes wondering quote where is his boat?“. Anyway, there are a lot of good true crime podcasts out there many covering cases you’ve never heard of before. I’d give this one a pass.

    Ew Season 3
You just had to ruin this show by making season 3 about a cop being the victim. Cops are NEVER the victim. Lost major respect for this show. Can’t even listen to it.

Thank you for all of the research and background
I had heard a short version of this murder before, but greatly appreciated all of the additional research and background information that went into this Season 1: Tally. Thanks!

I really like good investigative reporting
These series are wonderfully. I especially like season 4. Wow. I am obsessed with the inside detail given in these stories as only this podcast can give us. If you like true reporting and mysteries I believe this podcast is worth all of the time it takes to make it to the end.

    Gone Hunting
Couldn’t quit listening! I believe justice prevailed, not completely but glad they were both convicted. The way the two of them referred to God and His will unnerved me, I believe the Bible speaks of-thou shall not kill, covet they neighbors wife, etc. they must serve a different God than I do. Anyway, thank you for the sharing the story!

    Hate having to subscribe
Y'all got me hooked on season one then everything else I have to subscribe and pay for 😩. Season one is 5 ⭐️ but having to pay to continue is really a 0 ⭐️

Now I know why people don’t trust journalists to tell the full story…
I’m sorry but these reporters didn’t do their jobs. Did they talk to any of Wendi’s friends? Because I’m a friend of a friend and all I’ve heard is about how verbally abusive Dan was, how much of a control freak, and how all Wendi’s friends begged her not to marry him. I’m obviously not arguing this justifies murder but clearly the first episode was not a full portrait of the marriage. She didn’t leave him because she didn’t like Tallahassee and he didn’t like her novel. Are you kidding? Who would leave for reasons as flimsy as that? Sounds to me like the reporters are just as clueless and misogynistic as Dan.

    Second time to listen
Re-listening to this podcast after Charlie’s conviction and Donna’s arrest. Hoping for Wendi’s arrest and conviction! Only thing I dislike is the awful theme song!

    Dan Markel
Re listening to season 1. Very interesting now all of these years later given everything that has happened. Please please do a follow up season on this tragedy with the updates

    Wendi and her evil mother
Wendi is to narcissistic to be involved in any relationship. Not sure why she ever got married. And, did she get a nose job - what a fraud.

    Fantastic
Thought this series was so good! However, the last guest speaker is very sexist and tries to assume Denise wasn’t a part of it much when she’s the one that treated the mom like trash so she knew🤷🏻‍♂️

    Another professional opinion…
I find it facinating these few UK, former ‘Scotland Yard’, female professionals tout this “Coersive Control” theory. Well… let me tell you, as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in the United States, with 35+ years in the field of psychiatry, we’ve been talking about the VERY same thing for 30+ years under the heading “Power and Control”. In fact there is a ‘Power and Control” ‘wheel’. You can find it online. I’ve given it to MANY patients. AND… I’ve lived through it with my ex-husband. Had it on my fridge for years. What I take away from your guest, as well as “Laura” from “True Crime Profile” is these women are literally regurgitating a theory that has been known for DECADES. Just under a different ‘title’ with different ‘stages’ (the ‘stages’ your guest described frankly sounded ridiculous, repetitive with circular logic (ie… the more ‘stages’ we have, the more ‘scientific’ and ‘legit’ we sound!). In addition, these women NEVER acknowledge the female may have been the one in ‘power’. Their narrative has a ‘male toxic masculinity’ flavor to it. To put it simply… they do not like men. Period. In summary, based on MY (unbiased) clinical experience… Denise was NOT under this man’s control. She wanted her husband DEAD. She married his KILLER. As a woman who has been the victim of “power and control”, I can say with the utmost certainty Denise was NOT a ‘victim’, nor was her lover an evil manipulator. I honestly can’t believe these charlatans get paid for their ‘professional’ insights or opinions. Be happy to give my insights on a case anytime… your guest made my psych nurse blood boil.

    Update Tally!!
Love this podcast. It’s true true crime. Very informative and interesting but never boring. I love the way the stories are told. Season one was great! Season 4 was great! Please please please do an update episode on the Dan Markel case!

Great storytelling but too many ads
But still worth it. Jail and prison are not the same thing.
  • Em Muh
    Misogyny is alive and well
You admittedly shoot someone in the face and you do no time in jail?! This could only be the luck of a white man in America. Especially a white man in Florida - the same State that gave Jeffrey Epstein a pass on for raping poor, female children. Jennifer Portman’s diligence was excellent, but even she got lured into the tale as old as time that the woman is to blame because she doesn’t “act right” and the man who shoots the face off of his “best friend” is innocent because he’s under this woman’s spell. Any foreigner regarding this case would see the American “justice” system as biased and as easily manipulated as the incredibly jaw-dropping heinous injustice used in Indonesia and Thailand to prosecute accused. We judge their justice systems as so impossibly inhumane that we spend money making movies and documentaries to bring awareness to the sealed fate of those prosecuted outside of a democracy. Meanwhile, we are just as terribly manipulated and easily blinded by the whiteness and (feigned) vulnerability of these American men, that we let them off the hook. We pin the blame on the woman he’s identified as inexplicably in control of the man’s actions. Second to the men themselves, we as a society are responsible and should be held accountable for the crimes of white men because those men know, prior to committing the crime, that they’ll likely be let off the hook as long as there is a woman in close proximity to his crime. Why are we so gullible when in comes to white men? What is so special about them that they’re not held accountable for an admitted murder? We are STUPID F-ING IDIOTS to think Brian should not be prison for kidnapping AND murder. If I were a white man, I’d be letting everyone know that there’s nothing so special about white men that should allow them to shoot and kill someone and then turn and blame it on their girlfriend or the person they killed (another victorious white man murder defense).

    Tally - Season 1
Good season and great narrative. I don’t often feel compelled to do my own research to see what happens after the podcast ends, but I definitely was in this case! I’d love to have an update podcast on this season as it sounds like others may be brought to justice!
  • centralOR
    Way to many ads!!!!
Hard to follow with all the interruptions.
  • it was recommended
    Cringe-worthy
Her use of the word “normal” as a descriptor for the people in the story made me want to scream every time. She’s biased, obviously biased, and that makes for crap reporting.this could have been three episodes and I might have listened… just, no
  • Onlyinmydreams
    Not telling the whole story
Season 4 makes Denise look like this poor, helpless, controlled woman, where it was her that was in charge! More importantly, the podcast doesn’t give credit where credit is due…Mike’s mother was the one who worked for decades on getting this case charged, and came up with the evidence to prove Brian and Denise’s lies. Lastly, the two “experts” in the bonus need to check all sources before relying on this podcast alone to assert Denise was a victim of coercive control. If anything, she was in control!

Ok podcast if you can stand the host’s insistence on speaking with crispy Rs.

    Sofa king good!
I could not stop listening! I binged all 4 seasons and now I’m craving more. The way the stories are told are so thorough and the fact that they actually have recordings of the individuals makes these stories so much better. I need more!!!
  • Campsandalwood111
    Season 4 winner!
Season 4 is excellent! Unfortunately I can’t give the entire podcast 5 stars because they don’t have all seasons available. They are locked down on plus only. It’s a shame as I’m sure they are probably good too.
  • Mal2348

    Hard to Follow
Specifically season 4 - too many names & it’s all over the place. Interesting story but can’t make sense of it all with how they keep jumping around. Too many names & not enough descriptions/reminders of who people are

Phenomenal story telling with excellent production quality. I recommend this season to anyone with an interest in true crime podcasts.

Great retelling of a tragic story
I just finished the last episode and sat back and said, “Wow!” So well done! I can remember seeing Cheryl on the side of the road with her sign. So heartbreaking but a mother’s love has no boundaries. And even though I knew how the case ended, being woven through it again was like I was hearing it again for the first time. Great job. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

    The best narrator
This is one of the best stories I’ve found! The journalist is good at her job and at narrating.
