    Always Leave Them Wanting More
This is an incredible podcast. Unfortunately for fans, the podcaster seems to have stopped doing it. But, certainly listen to the content he has provided thus far. It’s well worth it and, as a musician, myself, this is easily my favorite podcast. And, David, you’ve certainly left us wanting more. :)

    Too Infrequent to Stay Subscribed
I appreciate the musical breakdowns and look forward to episodes but the length of time between episodes now always leaves me wondering if he simply abandoned the podcast. If not, get some guest hosts to keep the momentum going if you’re too busy and pop in now and then when work slows down. Otherwise, just bring a formal end to the podcast.

    Please make more!
David W. Collins, if you read these reviews, please know you have a large following of massive fans who love your show and would absolutely freak out if you made more episodes. Your level of analysis and sincerity is unmatched. Hopefully you not making new episodes means you're busy doing what you love, but selfishly I often check this podcast in hopes I’ll find new episodes. We miss you!

    Absolutely stunning work
David Collins has the uncanny ability to make you care about not only the complexity of the soundtracks that he’s dissecting, but he also has the ability to make you appreciate the cultural impact and relevance of the pieces as well. This has become one of my top 10 favorite podcasts, I can’t wait to hit play when I see there’s a new one!

    The best!!
If you want to know more about movies, music, storytelling, or history there really is no better place to start…or continue. I cannot recommend this podcast enough, both for quality and content. This is true artistic education. To misquote Mike Nesmith, LISTEN TO THE PODCAST!!

Wonderfull overview of music in film
Just a wonderful presentation and explanation of the art of a soundtrack. If you love film, like the history of the medium, and enjoy great music then you will be very happy with this podcast.

    My top podcast to recommend!
I listen to a lot of podcasts, and I have to say that this one is my favorite. It is unique, engaging and so well produced! My go-to for road trips. I grew up on John Williams and love all the episodes on his music, but I gotta say- the Howard Shore/LOTR episodes are probably my favorite. As an avid Tolkien and opera fan, I loved the Wagner episode. Give this podcast a listen! I guarantee you will enjoy it. :D

    Such a great podcast!
I’ve listened to almost all the episodes and I always look forward to the next one. It’s one of my favorite podcasts. Thank you for all the work you put into this. I’ve revisited some of the movies with new eyes and ears after listening to your commentary on the music. We watched E.T. last night.

    Music, movies and history
I just adore this show. It’s a rare podcast that elevates as it entertains. Accessible to people (like me) with no training in music or music theory. Full of an insider’s stories about films and filmmakers that you probably already know and love.

    Insight with an expert!
David is amazing at his breakdown and insights into the soundtracks that have loved for so long. He began the podcast with information in music that I use while listening to all movies now. He breaks down the sound, notes tones that obliterate or uplift, create suspense and amaze. “The orchestra never lies”, it is a rule I live by now. Thank you David for this amazing podcast, I cannot wait for a return!

Each episode a great listening experience
David explains the genius behind the music I have been listening to for 45 years, explaining WHY John Williams scores as well as others have such a great impact on the movies they accompany and why we love listening to them on their own. It’s great to hear about the inspiration and influences behind the music and the techniques used by the composers to tell a story with the score. Every minute of these podcasts is fascinating and even mezmorizing, creating an even greater appreciation for the music.

If you live movie music, you’ll love the pod.
David W. Collins is a Maestro at interpreting the magic of THE MAESTRO HIMSELF, John Williams’ scores. His love of the subject comes through loud and clear, as does his music and film knowledge. He truly helps you re-live these films. The 3 part E.T. Shows had me tearing up. Brilliant work. Thank you for this wonderful musical journey, David.

    ET ANALYSIS
Your interpretative work is superb…much to the happiness of the Auteurs, I suspect. So great to revisit these cinematic moments with such relevance. You reaffirm why I love movie music and it’s true purpose and effect. Bravisimo!

An enchanting love note to film score
Growing up, I always had a strange fascination with film score, preferring to listen to movie soundtracks than contemporary popular music, most days. This podcast, a solo endeavor by its creator, is the love note to all things musical in cinema that I’ve been waiting for all my life. David walks us through a top down and then a bottom up view of a particular film or work’s sound track and explains what it means at every level. All of which is punctuated by an original theme he created for this podcast, which is oddly nostalgic for something I’ve not heard prior. The production value is impeccably high and remarkably consistent over the years. I am sure each episode takes quite a long time to complete, which is why I won’t plead that David make them faster. Instead, I would say thank you. This show is absolutely amazing and in a league of its own with each and every lovingly crafted episode worth listening to more than once.

Happy to see E.T. pop up in my downloads!
It’s great to have David back! The way he breaks down a score - note by note , is pretty mind blowing. I’ve learned a lot just from listening, and re-re-listening to his episodes. There’s plenty of great content here; “Star Wars”, “Zelda” and “Lord of the Rings” are outstanding episodes.

This is one of my favorite podcasts of all time. David’s guidance through these treasures is something that will affect generations. Today was the first episode in a long time to be released and it was epic. I can’t recommend this podcast enough to not only the musically literate but also anyone that loves soundtracks. Missing the best podcast!
I love this podcast so much! My favorite genre of music has been movie soundtracks since I was gifted my first CD… The Empire Strikes Back soundtrack… when I was 10 years old. This podcast got me through Covid quarantine and I am so sad that there have been no new episodes since 2021. David, I hope all is well with you and you come back to this podcast. There is still so much that I’d love to discover through your incredible insights.

If you like music and movies, this is your podcast. I’ve never done instruments before but I’ve been singing in choirs for 13 years and counting and have been in theatre since I was born. I’ve always wanted someone who shares my love for movies and the music behind them. My family even found an arrangement of John Williams songs with Star Wars lyrics that we performed my entire childhood and I’ve never known what movies they were from until now haha. Thanks David for opening my eyes to a world I always wanted to get into and never knew how much I’d love it!
  • ChrisopherTG
    He’s so learned
And he researches so intensely and you just learn so much about films and music and it gives you a whole new perspective. I want to watch each film he discusses because I’m gonna learn more about the nuances of the score. Love love love this series. Keep going David W. COLLINS

Being a degrees and trained musician, his breakdown of thematic elements and musical analysis combined with the industry knowledge and background has glues me to the entire series. I cannot say enough good things about it!
