Filmmakers Adam Green (FROZEN, the HATCHET franchise), Joe Lynch (MAYHEM, EVERLY), and Arwen the Yorkie host this inspirational and educational program that offers a fully comprehensive look at the entertainment industry, the artistic process, and the enduring struggle of not giving up on your dreams. By candidly sharing their own trials and tribulations in Hollywood, Adam and Joe create an extremely honest and heartfelt dialogue with their guests. Clickbait for their Patreon
I listened to an entire episode waiting for them to go into detail with the guests about a specific topic they advertised at the top of the show and in the description, only for them to cut the episode off at the end and plug their patreon to hear the rest of the interview.
  • holleringmystic
    Talk over their guests
This is a great podcast if you are interested in the hosts only. They tell rambling stories and talk over their guests, making it a chore to listen to their interviews. I listened to the Kyle Gallner episode, which started with 17 minutes of complaining about a different unnamed guest, and then cut off in the middle of Gallner’s sentence because the rest of the interview is on patreon.

    Lefty nutbags
Tried giving this a shot but when they start off an older episode talking about how the death of RBG affected him, I’m out. Also talks about how little girls don’t have a role model now and hope that AOC is the new role model. Just more dumb, uneducated libs.

    Holy rationalizations, Batman!!
So these episodes are cut short so you are forced to pay $1 per month for the full episodes on Patreon. The Hatchet guy rants & legit passive aggressively puts it back on the listeners “caring enough to pay $1 a month.” Dude, it’s not the dollar, it’s the behavior. Podcasts are free & Patreon is for extra stuff. Republican behavior.

Wanna listen to the whole episode, pay us!!
Love the movies they make, but to guilt you into paying to listen to the full podcast is outright greedy. They’re hundreds of other podcasts that give quality content and don’t charge. My first experience is the 500th episode and it’s also my last experience. Thanks for wasting my time.

    Best filmmaking podcast ever
Filmmakers Adam Green (Hatchet, Frozen) and Joe Lynch (Everly, Mayhem) have created something very special here. For nine years now the Movie Crypt podcast has been a funny, honest and heartfelt look at movie making. Adam, Joe, and Arwen-an adorable yorkie that is their co-host-provide an episode every week without fail. Not only is it a great show, it has created a loving community out of its Patreon supporters. Only $1 per month gets you in. If you love hanging out and geeking out over movies with a couple regular guys who love movies as much as you do, give the Movie Crypt a listen.

    They’ve lost it
I was a longtime listener and an avid fan of Joe & Adam but they are not the lovable, fun duo they once were. The most obnoxious part is having to force people to give you $1 a month for full episodes, for a show that boasted it would always remain free. But a dollar is not a large sum, the lame part is Adam chastises the listeners and guilts them into donating/subscribing. And of course, as a “celebrity” is want to do, they only upload their most self indulgent episodes in their entirety so they can share all of their important opinions on the state of the world. Yippee. Bring back the old versions of our two favorite goofball horror hosts.

The podcast is really good. But forcing your audience to pay to hear the rest of the interview is crap. Fix that guys

Would be a great podcast if it didn’t have hosts.
Has plenty of guests I’d like to hear from, but between Joe asking rambling questions that take 8 minutes to get to a point and Adam re-telling some story about Hatchet for the 200th time I think the guest gets to speak about 20 minutes of an episode.

    Best podcast on the net
Adam and Joe keep knocking it out of the park with great guests, insight into the process and business and tons of perks for fans. If this show ever stops I’ll need more than just Hollywood Therapy with Dr. Arwen

    Got It Going On
These boys (and Arwen) are nailing it. Sharing their experience is a priceless gift to all who have, are, or want to work in the industry (The Grand Machine or the Independent market). I have truly come to some serious realizations about what moves I may want to make next or why others led me to a dead end. Their guests offer an aspect to the industry conversations through the interviews that allows us ALL to be in the same boat...together...as equals. I appreciate Joe’s kind words and humor as well as Adam’s bluntness and pragmatism. This is a rare A+ podcast.

    Used to love it
They have great content. That’s not the problem. I stopped listening when they started wanting you to pay to hear the whole podcast. If you want to do extra stuff and put it on Patreon fine but the regular podcast should be free. Also lay of the political opinion. If I want to hear that I can go listen to Don Lemmon or Sean Hannity.

    Absolute MUST!!!!
I met Adam Green in 2017 and was always a lover of his films and Holliston. I was never a podcast person and this was the first I ever attempted. I can say that I honestly look forward to all of my long drives daily for work because I get to hear this. Adam and Joe are both so easy to listen to and everything they talk about is so fascinating (I’m also in no way in the film industry but being a horror and film lover hearing their interviews and shows is so interesting!). Their stories are awesome and so inspiring, definitely helped me in such times of need for wanting to move past not feeling like I was good enough to fulfill my dreams. Thanks for the shows guys and keep it coming!!

    Care Bears Are Cool Dammit!
What a great show! Started listening in the mid 200 episodes, went back and bought the first 300 on Airescope. Have really enjoyed every episode. We seem to have the same taste in movies, so it's very relatable. Love Holliston, greatest show ever!! Rock On!!! Fackin!

    A must
If you are a lover of cinema, this podcast should be a requirement. Adam and Joe are so enthusiastic every episode and excited to talk about film and it radiates. From the incredibly insightful discussions with various different people involved in the industry to the amazing advice, it’s nice to see 2 people who truly just love movies. Any aspiring filmmakers absolutely have to listen to this. If anyone understands the struggles, it’s these two. The patreon rewards also blow any other podcasts out of the water. VIVA LA CINEMA

    Boring Crypt
Was a five dollar subscriber on Patreon for almost a year. Nothing they did on Patreon was worth the extra money for I would get the same boring episodes on the main feed. Once every other month a boring commentary to some obscure horror sequel would come out, I.e can’t wait for “Friday Part 4 and a half “ or whatever.

    Love these boys...
This marks the second time (the Horror Etc Podcast) that a podcast has hit me in a way that I feel connected to people who are far away from physically, but very close mentally. I have so many moments while listening to Adam and Joe that I feell like I have either experienced the same things, am going through them currently or just knwo exactly how they feel. Weird. The bggest part of why I love this show is the was Joe and Adam motivate me to continue creating art. They don't know it, but many times I've thought about quitting and things they have said give me some bit of confidence to keep going. Great show.
  • Mando Don't Text
    Adam Green
I used to listen to this show all the time. Joe was the one who kept me coming back. Adam seems like the family member who is there always making faces and complains about having a headache and kinda makes things awkward. It would be so much better if Joe has moe control because you can hear his enthusiasm when talking to a guest and that is infectious. Joe gets on a roll and the show starts getting fun and here comes party pooper Adam telling joe and the guest they are running out of time. I can see why Joe is more successful than Adam. Go back to your "projects" Adam and dazzle us again like you did with Frozen! Anyways, keep up the great work, Joe.

    I love Movie Crypt!!
Listening to Movie Crypt seriously made me love movies even more than I already do. Hearing about all the ins and outs that goes into writing, filming and all of the things, it’s safe to say, you gotta love what you do. The positivity and the encouragement to fellow filmmakers is simply awesome. 💜

One of the Great Podcasts Period
Right off the top I want to stress this podcast is for EVERYONE. Many years ago I was hesitant to listen because after seeing the lists of guests they had and topics they covered I thought this was best suited for those in the industry or trying to get into the industry. However, I quickly found out this podcast is so informative and has helped me discover much more about the medium I love. It not only makes you a better fan of film but also helps you appreciate everything that goes into it. It doesn’t hurt that Adam and Joe are two of the most humble and inspirational people out there. Definitely worth following for life.

    Favorite podcast
I'm relatively new to podcasts ( just 6 months or so ) but I have been gathering quite a few that I like to listen to. The Movie Crypt is BY FAR my favorite. I anxiously await each episode and it takes preference over all others. It is the only podcast that I subscribe to through Patreon. I started at the$3 level but I'm going to increase to a higher level, it's worth it.

    A gift from the gods
I love listening to podcasts while driving, which is a lot since I drive my elderly grandfather everywhere. He had lost his hearing completely back in the 70s, so I always have free reign of what I listen to. I decided to give this podcast a try the other week while stuck in some unusually bad traffic, about an hour into the show my grandfather turns to me and says “why do they sing viewer mail like that?” I tried to explain to him for a few minutes before it hit us what had just happened, this podcast gave my grandfather his hearing back, it made a deaf man hear. That’s four stars alone right there, there’s also a dog that chimes in here and there so that bumped it up to five.

    One stop filmmaking University
If you (or your kid) wake up every morning and really NEED to be a filmmaker, this is without a doubt the most inspiring, informative and realistic discussion about what it REALLY means to pursue filmmaking as a career. Warts and all. But you really need to start from the beginning. They sell the first 500 hours for $50 or something insanely cheap like that. Ask for it for your Bday or Xmas. Or get used to the indie film life now by working an extra shift at the day job to pay for it yourself. All that to say. For $5 a month on Patreon, it'll get you closer to your dream than a $5 latte, comic book, movie download etc. AND PARENTS with kids who want to be filmmakers... this is the best present you could ever turn them on to or gift them. Because it will give them the best chance of success as they learn the real ins and outs of pursuing their dream. And you can learn too, so you don't feel so uninformed.

Quite Literally The Best Out There
Not once have I ever been bored or disappointed with an episode. No matter what, these guys deliver; rain or shine- hell or high water- movies in production or going in debt. These dudes do it, and do it right. I look forward to being a guest one day.

    Night Terrors!!!!!!
I’ve been listening to Adam & Joe since the very beginning. This podcast has helped me through a lot of very rough times in the last few years of my life. I couldn’t be more thankful for everything Adam & Joe & Arwen have to done for their fans. This podcast is such a brilliant insight in to every aspect of Hollywood, the horror genre, the moviemaking industry & so much more. I dare you not to learn at least five new things with every episode you listen to. Thank you for all the kindness, the lessons, the laughs & yes sometimes tears you get while listening. I look forward to this every Monday, it makes the week shine a little brighter.

    Hollywood: the Real Deal
The hosts are great: Joe Lynch has an encyclopedic knowledge of genre cinema. Adam Green has an encyclopedic knowledge of his own movies. The Movie Crypt provides a real service in that it shows people what it means to be a "working class director" in Hollywood. The show isn't about celebrity, it's about the realities of 99.9% of people working in the film industry today, which isn't all that glamorous or even lucrative. That's what makes the show unique and fascinating. Though they tend to have other directors as guests, they also have actors, agents, cinematopgraphers, and so on...people that we rarely if ever get to hear from and yet who can give a fuller sense of what filmmaking is like as an endeavor.

I started listening to this podcast because I’m in the hatchet army. Ended up learning about the behind the scenes of entertainment and knowing I’m not the only one in this rat race. Subscribe, highly rate and maybe some extra for The Movie Crypt. It’s good for the soul.

Relax, you just found your Film Family
I started listening to the Movie Crypt after meeting Adam, Joe & Laura Ortiz at Rock and Shock in Worcester MA in 2012. I had the opportunity to interview them and was immediately blown away by how cool, down to earth and creative they all were. Adam frequently speaks about gathering his “Film Family” & this sense of being part of a close knit clan extends to the Crypt Keepers (Patreon fan base) and fans of Ariescope Productions everywhere. In Jan of 2018 my father passed away and it hit me hard. I dove deep into work & 5am gym visits just trying to keep my head straight. I also religiously listened to The Movie Crypt each Sunday as it is always a great way to escape for a few hours. In October I was lucky to be able to join Adam & Kane Hodder in NOLA for the final screening & swamp tour that culminated the Victor Crowley Film Tour. Getting there meant taking the red eye from South Fl to NOLA at 4am the day of and taking the same flight back the next morning after the boat tour & a 2 hr nap on an airport bench. I wanted to attend this event THAT MUCH. Both Kane & Adam were gracious as always & both made the effort to speak to and interact with everyone in attendance. After that experience I fell off the internet, mostly due to all the pervasive negativity surrounding current politics & social media. I just could not take it anymore. Recently I reconnected a bit & one of the first things I did was check my podcast feed to catch up on the episodes of The Movie Crypt that I had missed. It’s just as entertaining & informative as it has always been. I look forward to getting caught up and to following Adam, Joe & Co on their continuing adventures. You should too.

    Film School 101
Adam and Joe art giving filmmakers and film fans A wealth of knowledge in regards to what goes into filmmaking. A brilliant way to learn how to make films without ever having to go to school for it! These two men don’t get enough credit for what they do in their free time for the fans. Episodes range from comedic to heartfelt with tons of cool film stars and filmmakers which helps bring each new episode to life. As a filmmaker myself I owe 1000 thank you’s to Joe Lynch and Adam Green for what they’ve created with The Movie Crypt!

Movie Crypt Started it all for me
the Movie Crypt was the first podcast I ever got into and I've been listening for years. Filmmaking from a filmmakers perspective. Even if you don't like horror if you are interested in filmmaking you should put this in your regular rotation. From the early days of fangoria magazine horror movie people have been the most transparent about what goes on behind the scenes to make movie magic. Adam and Joe carry on that tradition.

    Genre Fans Rejoice!
This is by far the best podcast for those of you who love film, want to be filmmakers, film students, and genre fans. This is a film school in your pocket with amazing conversations with new guests in the industry each week. It's not a "put the camera here" type of thing but a "here's our journey, ups and downs, and everything in-between." I know I've felt like I've become a part of the Movie Crypt Family. Each week is like hanging out with your friends. If you give it a listen please support Adam, Joe, and Arwen on Patreon. They deliver more than any other podcast out there. If I could give more than 5 stars I would.

Great insider look into the movie industry
This podcast is great. The guests are mostly all pretty well known or well known to the horror community. I really enjoy hearing the stories of people breaking into the entertainment industry and giving tips and advice for us listeners. Support these guys and you’re guaranteed some great content in return!

    Weekly Must Listen
I have been listening to this podcast for the last year or so and love it. The candid conversations with their weekly guests give me a new appreciation for a lot of movies I wouldn't have otherwise checked out. Adam and Joe are consistent with their release schedule and a bright spot in the beginning of my work week. Thanks for the hours of entertainment. I highly recommend this for fans of horror and low budget film making.

    Untoppable
Truly the most useful, honest and heartfelt podcast that you can find if you’re a filmmaker or just a horror fan. The guests are top notch and Joe, Adam and Arwen always seem to pull information out of them that you can’t get anywhere else. It’s like film school in a podcast. Screw MasterClass. I’ll take The Movie Crypt.
  • Shad Youngblood
    It used to be fun
I’ve listened to the movie crypt since it started but I can’t any more. The show used to be about guests coming on to have candid conversations and helpful advice for aspiring filmmakers. Now Adam talks over the guests most of the time and doesn’t even silence the studio phones so in the middle of an interview will take a phone call. Adam also has a very strong dislike of anyone who is not paying for the show and makes derogatory remarks about them frequently. If Adam Hates people listening for free then make the show Patreon only. The show is now just an advertising vehicle for whatever Adam is currently promoting. There’s nothing wrong with promoting yourself but when it takes precedent over the guests it gets annoying. Joe Lynch is still a bright spot. He’s always positive and entertaining even when discussing his bad times. The problem is that Adam so dominants the show that the only time Joe gets to talk is when Adam is on a phone call. It feels Adam is burned out on the show and needs to take a break.

    Worth paying for
I just discovered this podcast a few days ago and have already powered through about 10 episodes. It’s funny, heartfelt, real, and has a ton of great advice and stories for people like me who want to make movies. I’ve been listening to podcasts for years and have never subscribed to one patreon, until now. I hope these guys continue to make great content and movies and I’m glad to do a little every month to help make sure they do.
