The Downtown Writers Jam

The Downtown Writers Jam is a one-hour conversation between host Brad King and some of your favorite authors. We have the kind of discussions writers have when our readers aren't around. We're talking life, current events, what shaped who we are, and why we write what we write. So, pull up a chair and pour yourself a drink. The Downtown Writers Jam is a part of the Solid Listen Network. Visit at Patreon.com/SolidListen for more.

A Podcast by Writers FOR Writers
I love how Brad discusses the writing process as much as the writer's work. As a writer, I'm always interested in how other writers work. I couldn't care less about hearing about their books — I'll read them if I want to learn about them. I'm just looking for those nuggets and pearls of wisdom that will help me write better myself. Most writing podcasts tend to be a lot of navel-gazing tripe, but the Downtown Writers Jam just, well, jams.

    Love The Writers Jam!
Brad is so wonderful. Energetic, enthusiastic, and always asks his guests the most ‘out of the box’ questions. A refreshing shift in the literary landscape.

    Insight and info for writers
If you’re writing something, anything, from a book to screenplays to short stories just for yourself, this is a great podcast to check out. I am always finding inspiration and details that others use and then layer that back into my own writing. It’s a great wealth of knowledge and I really enjoy the conversations.

    LOVE-ing this podcast
Cheers to this podcast! Brad has been putting in the work during this Covid-19 time and I’m here for it. I’m enjoying hearing Brad’s hometown memories of growing up in smalltown Ohio and learning about new books to check out. Love it!

    Fantastic!
Been listening to this podcast for about a year and I'm hooked. Brad has some of the most interesting guests you can imagine talking about all kinds of topics, but especially how they approach their careers, including writing. He has a knack for getting them to speak about their lives in ways that are tangible, entertaining, but also poignant and genuine.

Just listen to this podcast okay. You’re welcome.
You know how sometimes you’ll be out in the world, say at a café, and find yourself eavesdropping on a nearby conversation? You can’t help yourself. It’s too good not to. You’re invested and hanging on every word. You might not fully comprehend the entire scope of the context (Of course you don’t — you’re eavesdropping on a stranger’s convo), but you understand more than enough to feel as if you are part of this now. That’s The Downtown Writers Jam Podcast for me. Enthralled in the discussion even if I haven’t YET consumed the guest’s work (i.e. book or film). Host Brad King is positively captivating. His extensive and diverse background, life experiences, knack for storytelling, and all-around charm allows him to effortlessly create this wonderfully engaging energy and flow between him and his guests. Come for the dynamic discourse between writers and the hows and whys that led them to telling stories. Keep coming back because you’re a slut for a deliciously raw and unabashed gabfest on life musings and messes. And, as someone who is in constant pursuit of discovering women storytellers — The Downtown Writers Jam Podcast features an impressive lineup of great female writers and creatives. Big win! My favorite episodes: Ep. 32 Vikki Tobak, Ep. 27 Trisha Borowicz, Ep. 35 Danielle Sepulveres, Ep. 34 Keri Leigh Merritt, Ep. 33 George Carlin, Ep. 28 Ellen Munds
