    I appreciate the under editing...
Picardi lets his interviewees rip. I like that he lets them elaborate on their beliefs.

    In a word: “CANNED”
The concept itself is hackneyed. It’s been done a million times before and there is nothing original about this iteration. It’s like listening to a book report from a lazy kid who read the Cliff’s Notes. The podcast could have been somewhat palatable if the host had even an ounce of charisma, but his personality is grating. I’m a fan of most of the Crooked podcasts, but this one completely missed the mark.

    Recovery
What a show and how insightful when it comes to accepting each person’s journey and discovery of a spiritual part of each one of us. The last 15 mins. of this episode are a “must listen”. I am a 72 years old Mom of 3, one who is 9 years in recovery and one who is transgender and struggles with depression. You are my source of inspiration and guidance.

Many thanks for consistent edifying content. I can lose the guilt and focus on the beauty of what I have instead of feeling like I never deserve anything positive in the eyes of God or Creator. Like a balm.

A must-listen for those with a complicated relationship with faith.
This podcast leaves me feeling inspired and hopeful. Even though I don’t know what faith means to me personally just yet, hearing diverse perspectives and experiences brings me joy.

So many factual errors - yikes!
The show has a fun conversational tone but is coming from a very limited decidedly leftist perspective versus seeking to understand the richness and complexity of church history and theology.

    Excited for a new season!!
I can't tell you how excited I am that this new season of Unholier than Thou is almost here! Phillip is both irreverent and vulnerable and open to serious questions about faith in our great big complicated modern world.

    Love this podcast
The guests and subjects, particularly around the topics of holidays and history, are engaging and enlightening. This podcast offers a sincere look into questions many people raised in a traditional faith seem to be asking nowadays. Thank you Philip!!

    Unholier than Thou
I truly enjoy this podcast. Phillip is a great story teller and interviewer. He really makes me think about organized religion.

Have you ever struggled with religious concepts? This thoughtful podcast is for you
Thought provoking and real. Phillip seems to find topics to share that I’ve always grappled with. He presents topics and conversations with experts in a positive and intelligent way. Thank you Phillip for a wonderful podcast!

    Atheist approved
I am and was raised atheist, so when I first heard about this podcast I wasn’t really interested in what I expected to be Religion 101-esque. After more time and more ads, I decided to give it a shot, and I have now listened to every episode. This podcast has restored my faith in religion, and reminded me to not judge the religious so harshly. For what I once wrote off as a broken institution, it is so refreshing to hear inspiring, insightful, woke, and passionate voices from spiritual leaders to show me the loudest voices aren’t always the majority. The pop culture and political tie-ins are always executed perfectly, Phillip is a talented, smart, and hilarious host, and THANK YOU for this podcast!

    Creative and True
This show, introduced to me by my daughter, is a wonderful and imaginative journey into Phillip Picardi’s pursuit of spirituality. My mind and heart have been stretched and flexed in a most unexpected way. Please bring us more!

More fresh than church on Sunday.
New ideas and thoughtful considerations of history and religion. Picardi does a great job bringing you into the discussion, at least for this lapsed church goer.

    Not researched at all
The podcast is good, but it’s not a deep dive on religion and politics at all. It’s more of the recent headlines. He still gets pretty good people to interview, but if you are looking for a more historical perspective of how we got here, this isn’t the place. Also, and this should be obvious, the show has a very left perspective. Edited: changed to 2 stars after they had an expert on who couldn’t pronounce theotokos. A two second Google search could have helped with that. Come on, if I want poorly researched opinions I would just watch Fox News.

    Helpful
This podcast came to me at a great time. What with all the darkness this year has paraded out, we’ve really seen who the “real” Christians are and how they behave when the deck is stacked against them. He would love first. I love this podcast and how he always helps paint faith in a different perspective, it leads me to look at the Savior in a new light almost every time. Thank you all!

    What a find!!
I LOVE this podcast!! It is exactly what we need right now, uplifting, yet real and not afraid to confront truths and current events. Thank you so much!!

    Lots of Ads
It’s great to hear from a lot of perspectives, but stay close to the skip button. The most recent episode had an as break that lasted nearly 7 minutes.

    So good
Thought-provoking, inspiring, infuriating, and hilarious. The most recent episode with Brittany Packnett Cunningham genuinely got me thinking about approaching Christianity in a different way. Can’t wait for season 2!
  • TMT-DC
Brittany Packnett Cunningham is so funny
She’s so smart and grounded. I could listen to her all day!

    Opening my mind and heart
As a Jewish Unitarian (Juunitarian), I have learned so much from this podcast. Philip does such a great job of asking honest, probing questions and brings a very diverse set of guests ad topics. I love listening to it, and never thought I’d be interested in a podcast on religion. Now I recommend it to all my friends. Thank you!

    Fascinating and important
This has shown me a lot of perspectives and voices I had never heard, all while being funny, inspiring, and warm.

    Recovering and rediscovering God
As a pastor’s daughter raised with a lot of dogma and little clear truth, Phill has such wonderful guests that make it clear I’m not alone in searching for the real Jesus and his teachings. I particularly loved Kaitlin Curtice and Kristin Kobe’s du Mez. If you are trying to resolve a cloistered Evangelical upbringing with reality, you’ll find something interesting here.

    I feel seen
The minute I heard him quote a song from the underrated MC album I was sold forever Also, as a “progressive” Catholic who is often told by crazy Christians that I’m not actually Catholic bc GOD FORBID you respect others religions and choices, this podcast is my love language.

Excellent topics, interesting guests, I super love this podcast.

Not serious about religion, just politics
This show is well done which is why it gets two stars instead of one, but it really cherry picks its theology. As some one who takes religious studies very seriously, I believe the guests are selected to conform with the host’s point of view. The people who come to speak about Christianity are largely presenting views on the fringe of Christianity. While their viewpoints are their own business, Phil presents their view points as being reflective of widely accepted traditions. The way I see it, the show starts from a political viewpoint and then finds guests who support the political point of view but present it as theology. Phil has never had a guest whose worldview does not align with his own. I think if he tried that it would be a good show.

    Thank you
My therapist recently sent me this because I had always felt guilty for being who I am and she said it might help to hear from someone else’s point of view and this podcast was much more supportive than I thought it was going to be, not to mention the added political content was very eye opening for me. Truly this podcast is awesome. ❤️

    Phil is delightful
This show is perfect high low for me. High concept ideas with a fun real philosophical question. We love it. 500 stars.
  • B33bear
    Philip is a super star.
This is the most thoughtful, caring podcast I’ve ever listened to. I look forward to these lovely conversations every week.

    Thank you
Thank you for this podcast regarding hatred towards Trump. It is nice to know that forgiveness takes a while, but I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to forgive. My niece and her husband are going through hell with this virus. Today is day 20 and I just pray that they make it. But your podcast has enlighten me on my personal beliefs and the hatred toward moron. God bless and stay well. 😜

    Jewish chaplain comments.
I think it’s so interesting how the different faiths speak about God and faith and it’s presence in our lives while we live. The Jewish chaplain’s response to the question “if there is a God, what are they doing”? Was that the response to Covid is on humanity. And it’s true. In Judaism, we are here for Him. He needs us. Humanity is here to take care of itself as we are all children of God and that is our duty and is serving God. We have to protect and save each other from evil, and evil now is Coronavirus and death. It’s a plague. Our personal relationship with God is what teaches us that humanity is responsible for each other. Hopefully knowing this inspires people to do what they can to help each other and not deny the truth.

The abortion episodes were phenomenal. Absolutely love this show and Phillip is a perfect host

    Thankyouthankyouthankyou! :-)
Philip, Thank you SO much for all of these fascinating discussions, but particularly for today’s episode on Hinduism, abortion, and feminism!! We Hindus tend not to talk about religion even within our own community, let alone hear it being talked about in public. The discussion on feminism within the umbrella of Hinduism was particularly relatable and empowering! Keep doing what you’re doing!

    Hits home
Hearing the host’s journey through faith is inspiring to me. Sometimes I feel alone in my own journey of walking away from the faith tradition of my family and seeking a faith home of my own. I walked away because I could no longer in conscience support the anti-lgbt, anti-woman views baked into that tradition. I still love that tradition in many ways, but it has been high time for me to stop living a dual life. This podcast makes me feel a little less alone.
  • thankyou7295
    mostly nonsense unfortunately
I’m not a relgious conservative or anything but the liberal world is awash with semiserious psudosprituality that, upon being probed, holds pleasure as the only true value. This podcast strongly reinforces this perspective, which will only reinforce your suffering in the future.

I just started listening and I’m intrigued. First off, your voice is so soothing. Second, the content is amazing.

Helping me through my spiritual journey
As a child, I was raised in a “catholic” family. Quickly as an adult I determined that I did not respect the church or want to be apart of that. I have been calling myself not religious for years. Phillip’s podcast, Unholier than Thou, is helping me find my spirituality again. I listen every Sunday while doing some house work, or taking a walk, and then sit with the stories and lessons learned. This podcast has done more for me in the last 5-6 weeks, than I’ve experienced in my entire life. Thanks Phillip, can’t wait to hear more!

    Love it
I thoroughly enjoy this podcast. Have been missing/wanting something like it! Phil is smart as a whip and makes me laugh. My only complaint is that episodes are so short and only once a week. I want more!!!

    baited/switched
By my third episode, I was experiencing a non-critical and deferring exploration of an astrologist's take on 2020. Pro tip: If an astrologist says something, don't react with, "Wow, I didn't know that!"

    Soooo good!
Phil is so thoughtful and this show is very different from the other Crooked Media podcasts
  • Eric Thirteen
    Why
Psuedoscience from a team that I used to think was more fact driven. I’m questioning if Crooked really thinks for themselves or if I’ve been fooled this whole time.
