    First timer
Life changing. So grateful. 2024 was also the year I started praying daily Rosary. Can’t wait to start Catechism next. Love the Rosary in a year option too. Hopefully in future years they will do some ‘ancient letters in a year’ or ‘Popes in a year’. Love strengthening my faith and knowledge.

What Will Happen on December 31st?
This is our third time around, and while we are not Roman Catholic, this podcast has helped my children and I deepen our understanding of the Bible. We listen to it every day on the way to school, and now it feels weird if we miss a day! Thank you for doing this. I love when an episode comes on and one of my kids will remember a story or joke Father Mike tells from hearing it in past years. But we ARE curious… there are technically 366 days in 2024…will there be a bonus episode or an empty day? We are on pins & needles!

One of the greatest spiritual disciplines
My name is William and my father who was born Protestant and recently converted showed me this podcast 3 years ago. We have journeyed thrice around the sun with Father Mike now. We both agree that this is one of the GREATEST, MOST IMPACTFUL, and MOST NECESSARY spiritual disciplines out there for those of us who desire to serve our Lord and savior with our entire life. I have been blessed time and time again by the word of God read aloud by father Mike. Each day I catch myself (by the grace of God and the Holy Spirit) reminding me of a value, a virtue, or the very person of Jesus. I pray that more and more people would join us on this journey this coming year. Thank you Father Mike and all of the team behind the scenes at Ascension. The work you are doing, even the small tasks that seems less relevant are blessing thousands and hopefully someday millions! I truly can’t go back to not reading the word every day of my life. What else would I turn to? Keep fighting the good fight! You ALL ROCK!

    Heartfelt Thank You
It has been inspiring and encouraging to listen to Fr. Mike, not only reading the Bible, but giving context to each verse. Anyone can read the Bible, but explaining it with a homily each day is truly amazing. Thank you Fr. Mike! Keep up the good work!

    Round Two
I just completed the program (it took me roughly two years). For the last week I have been greatly missing hearing Fr Mike and doing the readings, which indicates how important God’s Word has become to my heart. I plan to make a second round through the Bible.

    An amazing and grace-filled experience
I just finished Bible in a Year today (I started on January 1, 2024 and finished up a bit early). The end was a bit of tear-jerker. Fr. Mike is a good man and I’m strangely going to miss him talking to me every day. At first, I was deeply suspicious and thought he was a bit over the top (he still is sometimes!), but he’s obviously a very, very caring guy who loves his job and the people around him. I never would have read the whole bible without this! This has been an excellent experience, and has blessed my life in so many ways. I’m amazed by how I know understand the readings at mass so much better, knowing the context and history and where they fit in the grand scheme of things. I think I finally understand Paul a little bit (man oh man his letters are tough). But most of all I think I understand my relationship with God a bit better and His plan for my life. Bless you, Fr. Mike, you’ve done an amazing thing here.

    “Soul food”
I enjoy Father Mike’s voice. I meditate on the scripture and it puts me into a place of relaxation. I feel so peaceful. Some episodes are intense but he gives a disclaimer. I have learned so much because of this podcast. Blessings to all and glory to God in the highest!

Literally changing my life (the word incarnating)
TLDR: great podcast whether you’re Catholic or not. This is literally a podcast about the history of humans. Kinda important. Kid friendly (the host warns before explicit material). Shout out to the priest who told me about the podcast. Priest are the heart of our communities <3 The Bible is ALL of our history and we live in Christ the King’s world so why not understand where and how we got here. For example, our legal system and how we write/direct plays all come from methods the Catholics use to share, retain, and develop the faith. Everything we do has its roots in this historical document because this is an experiential religion. Also, shout out to the Saints. We all need to read their writings! I digress…. On a personal note, I have been lost in a world that could be so beautiful but it chooses to be ugly (sinful), I’m not excluded from this, may God have mercy on all of us. The Bible is stitching this women’s broken heart and swelling it up with love again and lighting it on fire! Father Mike (the host), is doing the Lord’s work! Father Mike is very funny, precise, relatable, respectful, silly, and oh so kind and knowledgeable! Oh another note, I have been wanting to embrace and exalt my femininity all my life, the Bible is healing the parts of me that have been hidden or shamed for so long. Even if I can’t live in heaven on earth yet, I can between the lines of the Bible, all while working on becoming the best servant of Christ the King until and thereafter he fulfills prophecy.

    Confused/ hurt
It broke my heart when it said that women shouldn’t speak in church. I’m a lector and a woman. I listened to the end because I thought you would address that and maybe you will tomorrow because someone might have addressed this in previous years like the Hallow app. I still think you do a fabulous job teaching us so thank you. Have a wonderful day/ rest of the year.

    Must Listen
Wether you’re a practicing Christian, curious about the Faith, or even an atheist, this podcast is a must listen. It takes the worlds most influential book and distills into bite sized pieces and helps to contextualize the various passages. It has not only helped me grow in faith, but also to appreciate the richness and depth of the Bible and better see it’s effects in the world. Fr. Mikes reflections are always insightful and always seen to be exactly what I need at that moment. God bless and please give this podcast a try.

    Wonderful
My dad passed away January 2024. His goal was to read the Bible cover to cover this year, however he only made it to day 23. I found BIAY through a Google search and now not only will I accomplish reading the Bible in a year for myself, but also for my beloved Dad. Finding this podcast was such a blessing to me - in the midst of my darkest hour I have grown closer to God and have found the courage to work hard to love and know the Lord after turning away from from my faith for many years.

    Love this podcast
I’ve listened to this podcast for about 3 years and will listen to it again in 2025. Every time I listen to the stories I take away something new. After all it is the word of God. Fr. Mike’s commentaries are so helpful.

I am going through OCIA currently and plan to be confirmed this next Easter 2025. My goal is to finish the Bible in a year by then and start the catechism in a year. I was raised Slavic Christian baptist but decided to convert when my husband, who was an atheist, decided he wanted to become Catholic. After just one OCIA meeting, I knew this was the church for me. I have learned so much that I didn’t know and am excited to share the good news with others. I wish everyone could see what I see that the Catholic Church has to offer. My husband and our two little boys are also going to baptized and confirmed (husband and me) this Easter and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Converting to Catholicism was one of the best decisions we have ever made for our family.

I am so thankful for Bible in a year with Father Mike
This is the most exceptional way to hear and learn the word of God. I am into my third year and it has brought me back to the Catholic Church after being absent for forty years. I thank God everyday for this daily walk back into knowing and loving the Lord every day 🙏🏻

    Kept my attention
Usually when I think of reading the Bible in a year, I can already see myself stopping around Leviticus. Not with this! I love how it mixes the books so you get a chapter from different books each day.

Nice way to spend my morning commute
I’ve gotten into the habit of listening to the Bible in the year podcast every day on my way to work. It really seems to put me in a proper frame of mine before starting my workday.. I really enjoy father Mike’s enthusiasm and his explanation of what he read in the previous Bible passages

    Best year ever
I was new to reading the Bible, I was a little scared and was hesitant. 320 days in, I can say this is one of the best years ever. It opened my heart to understand my faith journey and has brought on so much peace. I wish everyone would do this journey.

    A Disciple of the Bible
I did the full 365 days of this podcast last year, and I can honestly say that it changed my life. I want to do it again, but I am doing the Catechism in a Year now, and I want to do the Rosary in a Year next year. I want to actually have the Bible in front of me and read it while Fr. Mike is reading it. I learned so much about the Bible and what the Catholic Church teaches about it. I had read the Bible from cover to cover once before I did this podcast, but it was not nearly as fruitful. It’s a transformative experience!

Thank you Father Mike for this wonderful podcast. It helps my husband and me to be consistent in our daily walk. I love that this podcast is a uniting force for all Christian brothers and sisters. Father Mike, thank you for your insights of wisdom with the commentary at the end of each session and for the humility and kindness with which you speak. The regular reminder that this could be someone’s worst day helps me to practice kindness even when I would rather be shy or just selfish. Thank you🙂
