    No music
As a music fan, it’s difficult to listen to a music podcast that does not showcase the music in conjunction with the artist’s development and song, album, and era stories. I know there are licensing issues but several shows at least get the rights for 30 second clips that add so much to the story and listening joy. Sure some of these are Rolling Stone and we can’t all be RS but even some independent podcasts do too. Tried to listen but going elsewhere.

    Cliche
The writing is cliche and the host sounds as if he’s reading a Wikipedia entry on Bowie - probably is.

Historically accurate, but with imperfect details
I’m enjoying Off The Record: David Bowie so far, and it does a good and accurate job of capturing the chronology of events in Bowie’s biography (as have been conveyed in other Bowie texts and sources). Though it would have been good if audio recordings of interviews of some of the principals quoted (Eg. Tony Visconti, Iggy Pop, Bowie himself) could have been used instead of being read out by the narrator. Maybe this is a copyright issue - which no doubt is the reason why Bowie’s actual music isn’t played here either. An annoying detail in the ‘Thin White Duke’ episode: the lack of an attempt at German pronunciation on phrases related to Bowie’s time in Berlin, like “die brücke” or “kosmiche musik”. Just typing and playing words in Google Translate would have given this podcast’s creators the necessary guidance, and would add some authenticity to the proceedings.

    Ads get in the way
One of my new favorite podcast finds-well narrated, detailed and addicting. However, the lengthy advertisement breaks really interrupt the flow of the show. Respectfully requesting a reduction in the ads, to that of most other shows, and I would love to be a Patreon subscriber or whatever.

    Excellent.
Very well done and a good companion to listening to Bowie’s catalogue. The interviews are great and really rounded the whole thing out for me.

    Stunningly done
Riveting and addictive. Jordan is an incredible researcher... and master storyteller. Each episode is a gem in and of itself. I was completely engrossed from beginning to end and am blown away by quality of this podcast. Already chomping at the bit to hear Jordan’s next musical biography.

    Podcast for Bowiephiles
Amazing content. Love the primary episodes and supplemental interviews of minor players in the Bowie Canon that provides a rich portrait of the man and life of David Jones and his creations. Sometimes I wonder why so many people are coming out of the woodwork now that he is gone— keeping his memory alive or non-diclosure agreements that were in-place. It used to be that so many interviews were lightweight puff pieces. Will bear repeated listening. Love on ya— Billbowie

To Bowie or not to Bowie, that is the question.
There’s thousands of interviews, articles and books on Bowie. It’s the same story told over and over. If you like Jordan and want to hear something truly unique and entertaining listen to his Rivals podcast!

    Strong work.
I love this podcast, my favorite era of Bowie is the 1980s.

    Very well done.
This is extremely well researched and provides a wealth of fascinating info about the great who was Bowie. The only downside is that they apparently couldn’t get or afford the music. It is most unfortunate to hear about how a song came about without being able to hear the song!

    Great host, interviews, stories
I’m a Bowie fanatic. The podcast is one for the history books as of course is David Bowie. Jordan’s voice keeps the listener engaged. The vivid descriptions from the Thin White Duke era were captivating. For an artist who continuously morphed, this podcast never gets dull. Thanks for the enjoyment!

    Falling in Love
Thank you for this amazing overview of David Bowie’s life and career! Only half way through and I’m totally in love with David. As teenager in the 80s I was a fan but now have a much more greater appreciation for his early years. Looking forward to the stories from the 80s and beyond! Your story telling is great and I love the bonus interviews with personal reflections. You have such a kind manner in the interview ❤️ good job and thanks!

    Appreciate the genuine appreciation
As a long time David Bowie fan I was skeptical when coming across this podcast but I’ve found it very informative, and truly enjoy the approach the host takes with each episode and bonus episodes!

    Love it
The show itself is similar to “year of the Bowie” but the weekly interviews are what earns this the 5 stars. Worth a listen for any bowiefan

To imagine a baby David Bowie
Listening to this podcast was enriching! Discovering that baby David Bowie played "Inchworm" by Hans Christian Andersen ( a Great Dane author) I was touched sentimentally by the image of him cheering himself up with this song. Thankful to have tuned in. Fine listening. I give it cinco estrellas! ( 5 stars)

    Fascinating podcast about David Bowie
A detailed account of David Bowie's life, from childhood onward. Brilliantly told and absolutely fascinating; a must if you're a Bowie fan.

    A truly deep dive
An incredible deep-dive into Bowie's life. It's called "Off the Record," so like ... obviously it's not focused exclusively on his music. But if you're a fan who wants a biography-quality retelling of Bowie's life, era by era, I can't think of anything that goes quite this far and wide.

    No music no story
Unless you have already seen the Ziggy Stardust film you won’t get much from the podcast. It’s Wikipedia without the links. The best parts are the interviews given as secondary episodes.

The only podcast I listen to on 1x speed
I did wish it came out like a day earlier though, the Sunday night dump of podcasts I get is pretty loaded already.

    Station to Station
Truly excellent podcast. Really enjoying and looking forward to more from this deep dive into the many incarnations of Bowie over his lengthy and stellar career. Impeccable journalistic inquiry into the life and times (and reinventions) that were David Bowie. He is missed.

    David Bowie
Each week, I look forward to hearing podcast.
  • mustardandmaymay
Are you going to tell all of the story?
Like how Bowie was a child rapist and never apologized for it? If you can find his atonement for being a typical white male musician sexual predator then that would be the whole story. We must stop this cycle of abuse and not let sleeping dogs lie.

    FANTASTIC
I can’t wait for more and more and more don’t ever stop this podcast.
