Ten years ago, over three hundred men, women and children disappeared from a small town in Tennessee, never to be heard from again. In this podcast, American Public Radio reporter Lia Haddock asks the question once more, "What happened to the people of Limetown?" Not good anymore
Season 1 was an edge of your seat, thought provoking thrill ride. Season 2 was hot garbage. That is not an exaggeration. the plot was slow and plodding, it destroyed well laid plot lines from season 1 with no meaningful payoff or replacement, and indulged in deconstructing central season 1 characters for obvious power fantasy self-inserts. I would say the writers need to go back to school, but there’s only so much education can do. Listen to the first season, then write/imagine your own resolution to the plot. Trust me, you can’t do worse.

    Poor piggy🐷
I liked it, but I’m a kid and it made me sad that he killed the pig. Season two was trash.

    Absolutely Outstanding
I am a huge audio drama fan and I don’t know why it took me so long to listen to this one. Finished both seasons in one evening and immediately re listened to them.

Season two was a let down
Season one was fantastic. It kept me at the edge of my seat. Season two wasn’t as exciting and the story didn’t flow as well as season one.

    The Best Podcast Ever. Seriously.
This one introduced me to the concept of Audio Dramas, and from beginning to end- kept me riveted. I cannot recommend this podcast enough. If you want a truly well-thought out and well-made podcast, Limetown is for you. But little warning: It falls under the thriller/scary category. If you don't like scary things, this isn't the one for you.

    Really enjoyable!
This podcast was really enjoyable, but I wish they would’ve went with another storyline for season 2. Don’t get me wrong, it was good, but it could’ve been better. I think having Lia ask Daniel questions while being held captive would’ve flown better with the series, but that’s just my opinion. The ending wasn’t the best and I am hoping there is more.

    Why?
This was the first podcast I ever listened to. Now my library is very, very large. Just went the distance to listen to it all over. It seemed enough time has passed, and once again. I’m back to wondering why it ended so abruptly?

    Season 2 is trash
New writers that ruined the entire plot. Look up how POORLY this was handled. Absolute trash, everything was Ret-conned

    First season great, second season….
The first season had me hooked and I was so excited I found it, but the second season … started strong but by the last two episodes, man oh man, they were a HUGE disappointment. I’m not sure if this story ends here or if they’re adding another season, but it was like they didn’t know how to finish it so they just stopped. Nothing was wrapped up, no explanation of anything, it was pretty bad. Honestly best not to start the podcast at all.

    Great Series
Fast-paced and really well-written! This show has made me think in a number of different ways, and that’s a good thing. I highly recommend this podcast!

Removed 2 Stars After Season 2
Season 2 is a pointless mess. I remember rabidly following Season 1. The Season 2 tone is completely different, and not in a good way. I wish I had never started it in the first place.

    Well produced but boring, overhyped
I was bored for most of it. I don’t understand the hype for this series personally. I had to force myself to finish the first season and didn’t bother with the second because it is unanimously panned by those who love the first. Episode 2 was pretty good, but I don’t feel the rest of the season really kept up with the story it set up. I gave it two stars because it seems to have good production value.

Season 1 Amazing Season 2 HORRIBLE
I binged season 1 loved it. Then season 2 I can’t even get past 2 episodes. What happened? What went wrong?

    Season 1 👍👍 Season 👎👎
I was ready to write a review and give this 5 stars after season 1. I decided to wait and listen to season 2 before leaving a review because of many comments I read in regards to season 2. Long story short, the ending (if you can call it that) is absolutely horrible and ruins the entire podcast.

Would like to listen to more podcasts like this. Love the fictional story narration. Keep up the good work.

    Misleading and Silly
They need to say up front that this is a work of fiction, although it’s pretty obvious after about 15 minutes into the first episode. As a work of fiction (mystery/horror/whatever) it’s pretty silly. I stopped listening when it involved communicating telepathically with the pig. It’s also pretty obvious that the podcast is a vehicle used to hawk the author’s new book Don’t waste your time unless you enjoy this sort of tripe.

    Good.
This podcast was pretty good. It’s a classic for a reason. It’s well produced has a good plot line and was even made into a tv. It’s worth a listen even if it isn’t my favorite

Multiple layers lots of twists and turns
Hard to follow at times but glad i stayed through the end. Ending was a great twist to unmask the villain. Investigative reporting theme is a good draw

    What Happened? :(
When season 1 came out, I swore up and down that it was one of the greatest podcasts ever written. It was creepy and sent chills down my spine. Then the book came out, and suddenly season 2 was tied to the book instead of season 1, with contradictions between them all. I haven’t seen the show yet but I heard that got cancelled after season 1. Just listen to season 1 of the podcast and pretend it ends with the cliffhanger and you’re set.
  • MystifiedMermaid
    Incomplete
Formatted like investigative reporting, season 1 is a mystery/thriller with a reporter unraveling the mystery of a town that suddenly became a ghost town 10 years previously. The characters presented in the interviews are interesting and acted well, and the way the mystery builds over the course of the first season is engaging. Has some great twists and character moments; the first season's better than the second, which is partially a let down because it continues to build on rather than resolve the cliffhanger from the first season. I don't have a lot of hope that the overall story is going to be concluded.

    One of the Greats
One of the all time best audio fiction podcasts. An absolute inspiration. Flawless execution and a story that’s worth it.

    First season is my favorite
It really did got under my skin. Season two? The heck was that? The first season answered the majority of the questions set up. And what happened at the end? Good thing season 1 was really was that good that season two didn’t diminish it.
  • Nrsweeps girl
Slowly falls off but a good listen
I really enjoyed season 1! But the ending in season 2 was completely unmoving. Tons of unanswered questions, a big dramatic story that left me with basically no ending. We are to choose which story to believe? This could’ve been better.

    Mystery of Limetown
Love this podcast. Simple listen. Have listened to season 1 three times since it came out. Interesting concept. The show didn’t do the podcast justice. Love Leah drive to solve this mystery.

Sounds realistic and creepy. I like it.

    The End is Perfect
Season one is definitely slower. But the build up it has leading into Season 2. *chefs kiss* Season 2 is definitely melodramatic. But the entire story that ties into Season 1. The answers to what questions you have. Getting into the nitty gritty. I love the voice actors. They get their point across in such a way that makes you feel for them. This is a podcast I appreciate and think people would enjoy it as well.

    Season 1 ❤️ Season 2 🤔
Season 1 had stunning characters, monologues, slow burn, great format. Season 2: grueling melodrama, that should pay off in the end. But it did the opposite of paying off! unsatisfying journey.

    One of my favorite podcasts!

    Wait for the Hook
The story is slow but by the end you’ll enjoy it.

    Not good
I agree with the criticism of season 2. First of all, this should be categorized under sci-fi, and second of all, this didn’t just have an unsatisfactory ending- it didn’t have AN ending. It just… stopped. I’d take a bad, unsatisfactory ending over no conclusion to the story or character trajectory at all. Season 1 was enough to make me listen to season 2, but if you appreciate good story-telling, you’ll be left unimpressed.

    Amazing!!
So, so creative and compelling. This is absolutely incredible!! If you love serial, you will love this. First season is one of the best things I’ve ever heard!! I am completely blown away with the creativity in this show! I was totally sucked in. (I do agree with others that the ending/2nd season was a little unsatisfying... but honestly that kind of feels like the vein of the show, and the overall show was totally worth a little dissatisfaction at the end) highly recommend!!!

    Dropped off in season 2
I really enjoyed season 1, I actually got chills a few times. But the second season was meh. Accidentally listened to the last episode thinking it was the first of the second season, so I was slightly confused, but, after listing to how it ended I was checked out. Oh well.
  • Giggabiite
    Really good
You have to understand that this show will not give all the answers. In fact, it tends to lean on the side of lesser information but it still gives you everything you need to know. The characters can be a little fictional but the experiences of each person are captivating The folly is straight up brilliant, although sometimes, especially at the beginning (before your used to it), it’s a little hard to determine what’s happening in scene vs folly added to narration. I know a lot of people didn’t really like season 2 (esp the ending) but I really did. The season itself filled in a lot of gaps from the previous season, while expanding on characters we new very little of. It’s a little more ambiguous at times than season one, and the ending was particularly so. However I felt that was somewhat reasonable considering the characters introduced in that season

    Wow!
All the episodes were well done! Especially enjoyed the very poignant ending, just beautiful how it was able to show something beautiful after all the terror.
  • CGC2170
    True Crime?
I do not understand why this is under True Crime. And why it doesn't say in the description it is fiction. That is extremely annoying. Boooooo.

    So good
I just binged listened to this after hearing it over a year ago. It is even better than I remembered. Very few podcast have come close to this level of storytelling, suspense.

    Thorough waste of time
This story was so much and so little and overall very underwhelming. It’s like the characters were written out way more than an actual plot. They were more caricatures, really, constantly over-emphasizing their personalities and creepy quirks. They were almost all entirely either the cool, dark murdery type or the soft, traumatized-by-the-tech type who spent literally entire episodes explaining their own sob story when listeners could have spent that time getting to actually know more about the plot. Giving an audience who can’t watch but have to listen a complicated story with all complicated characters, and complicated timeline of traced around different parts of the world was kind of dumb. Not to mention exhausting for listeners. There is so much more they could have written about with the actual tech, how it came to be, and how it affected people in a more linear timeline rather than storytelling the whole thing backwards through fake-sounding characters. They also could have followed the ending of season 1 in so many ways other than introducing and entirely different set of voices & personalities. It’s annoying how complicated they made this lol. The sound design was great and some of the stories describing the affects of the tech were cool. The cliffhangers in season one’s episodes were nice and scary but knowing that the next episode would just be 90% some new character’s sob story/ or someone over-emphasizing how good they are “at their job” didn’t make me want to rush to the next episode. This was so disappointing :/
