TORAH 101 - With Rabbi Yaakov Wolbe

Judaism #37

TORAH 101 is aptly described as “An Intellectual’s Introduction to Torah”. If you are a person who wants to understand the foundations of Torah in a logical and cogent fashion, if you don’t want to subsist with the juvenile perception of Torah of your youth, if you want to wrestle with the deeper questions of theology, eschatology, theodicy, and Jewish philosophy, TORAH 101 is the podcast for you. We will delve into the weighty topics in Jewish philosophy: the divinity of Torah: the interrelationship of Written and Oral Torah, the multidimensionality of Torah, a critical examination of Bible criticism, Torah and Science, why bad things happen to good people, and we will thoroughly explore Maimonides’ Thirteen Principles of Jewish Faith. Please email all questions, comments, and feedback to rabbiwolbe@gmail.com

    Whose son is the messiah?
David’s son? Then why does David call him “Lord” (psalm 110)? Because the messiah is the son of David AND the son of God: 2 Samuel 7:14 “I will be his father and he will be my son.”

The reason I'm ending my life
I was hoping to find a podcast that made Torah more accessible and I thought this was it. Unfortunately, the host is condescending and more interested in bragging about his sex life and the submissiveness of his wife than in teaching Torah. I'm glad the host is lucky, but he lacks compassion, humility, and empathy. Maybe G-d will teach him these things one day. I wanted him to know he is the reason that I'm ending my life. Words can help and words can destroy. His words pushed me over the edge.

    Feeding my spirit
Several weeks ago Rabbi Wolbe encouraged us to download pod casts to feed our spiritual selves. That is what I am doing. What a blessing to use so much wasted available time to to feed my soul. May Hashem bless you and everyone involved with Torch.

    Thorough coverage of important topics
This podcast is perfect for listeners on any level of Torah learning. The ideas presented are of great importance and centrality, but are too often overlooked by all but beginners. To have someone as clear and sophisticated as Rabbi Wolbe speak about them is refreshing and enjoyable, even to someone already very advanced in traditional Jewish studies. I can only complain that there are not enough episodes!! Please keep the wonderful material coming. Best wishes!!
