    The Money Pit
Always have this show on, while sewing or working inside and outside the house. The broadcasters, Leslie and Tom, have pleasant voices and are very kind. Growing up with my dad, my best friend, was my joy in life. He was a chief in the navy, an electrician, carpenter and plumber. I learned so much from him…. He’s in Heaven now, so I don’t have him to guide me along, with my money pit.. I have a great sense of pride, being a DIYer, it’s fun, and I save a so much money… Every single episode of The Money Pit has so many tips, I learn constantly, and am also reassured that I did something right or when I didn’t… I couldn’t get alone without all the shared knowledge from the Tom and Leslie…. Good info but…
I love the show and the information, but the hosts act like they have no time for each called and are always trying to hurry everyone up on the call. It’s annoying and feels like a fake sense of time constraint just to get people off the phone. They talk so fast in their answer and don’t really care to get details when the caller offers. It would be nice if they acted like this was a real podcast and provided enough time for themselves to actually do it without it always feeling so rushed through. Love the show, just wish it was a little differently run.

Great podcast covering relevant topics in just the right depth. I enjoy the way you troubleshoot with the listener and offer options for resolving repair problems. Keep up the good work

Tom and Leslie are fantastic and welcoming
I got into the home improvement kick during the pandemic and then sold my house I completely renovated for a smaller one to renovate as well - but increased my commute. I discovered Tom and Leslie after my wife suggested I find some podcasts to listen to on my drive to and from work. What can I say - Tom and Leslie are practical, informative, and know their stuff. It has been about 2 months since I discovered them and they have both confirmed things I already knew and taught me some new things. I listen to them weekly and appreciate both their planned tips and the questions they answer.

    Not bad
I’ve been listening for about two days and i find this show pretty good. I wanted to find a show that helped me learn to build or DIY projects. So far it seems to help and if you go to their vlog they write articles on it also. Overall great listen for anyone who wants to fix up their home!

Here for the “you live in a money pit!” jingle 🎶
Honestly the best part is when they finish a segment and the voices from the jingle suddenly shout out “you live in a money pit!” jauntily. I’ve almost cried from laughing multiple times. Aside from that I’ve learned stuff I will hopefully remember in case it’s ever relevant to me. But Tom is a bit monotonous and man-splainy. Leslie is better, at least she has more personality. Overall though they do not seem to value salvaging or historical homes, always suggesting to get new windows or metal roofing (oh yeah, metal roofing is a sponsor, hmmm).

    These guys know homes
I actually just recently stumbled upon this podcast and I am so glad I did. It doesn’t take long to realize these guys know what is up with your home issues. I have learned several things in the short time I have been listening to them. If you are stumped on a home repair or home improvement I recommend you check the Money Pit out.

    Good Basic information
From 4/21/22, on clutter, I liked the rule of 5 to put away five items or spend 5 minutes an hour cleaning something, which will add up to an hour of cleaning if I can do this six times a day. The 6/26/23 settings on adjusting a sprinkler system to save water are usually already provided when it is installed. There are moisture sensors to avoid watering during rain, as well as timers to control watering times and days of the week for watering.

    Helpful For New Homeowner
Extremely helpful podcast for new homeowners and people that are activiely doing DIY projects on their 'Money Pit'. Tom and Leslie have great chemistry and do a really good job of educating listeners on how to best accomplish a wide range of home projects. They have a great sense of humor and its always a treat to tune in and find out who they had on their show. 10/10 recommend!

    Too many commercials.
It feels like the majority of the podcast is commercials. I unfollowed and started looking for another show. The content is good but way too many commercials.

Great listen to learn more about homes and different products
I love listening to The Money Pit! It’s shows are very informative and provide a plethora of knowledge about homes and different conditions/products. It’s something easy to listen to that is informative and can help make my home safer and well maintained.

    Great for new homeowners!
I listen to their hits on WCBS 880 AM in the NYC market. I was so glad to find their podcast and I’m regular listener. Both became more relevant for me as a purchased my first home!

Best I’ve found, but not great
Episodes are hit and miss - but I generally find at least a couple of nuggets in each one. A little ad heavy, but you gotta pay the bills somehow. Also indexes to cold climates and upper Midwest - which is not always the most helpful for those of us in hot climates. All in all, solid, but not a must listen.

Feels a little like an infomercial
I probably won’t stop listening. I’ve learned things along the way. However the questions and answers feel targeted to fit a particular product they just happen to recommend. They are not eco-conscious. The amount of plastic products they recommend is infuriating to me!

    Too many ads
Show isn’t worth your time. Too many ads

    Easy listening
I like to listen but it drives me crazy that they play the same calls (literally the same call) on different podcast episodes.
  • sheriff_j
    Repetitious content
Practically every episode answers a call about a wet basement and the answer is always about gutters and drainage. LOTS of sponsor plugs.

    Needs Improvement.
There is potential for a great show here, when there actually is content being delivered. There are way too many ads relative to the amount of actual commentary. Between the ads and the intro jingle that plays constantly, there is very little actual content. I also wish that the hosts would disclose when they are recommending a sponsor’s product. I believe that’s important for credibility.

    So Helpful
Love this podcast. My husband and I are trying to ”expand our territory” and we are getting some great advice here! Thanks for sharing your knowledge with the masses.

    Entertaining and Helpful
This is a great program. Keep up the good work! Very funny and helpful. I appreciate the banter.

Good info need to fast forward
I love the info you provide but hate that you have to answer the same mold and mildew, drainage and basement questions. Everyone must understand that commercials pay the bills and I find the info occasionally useful

    Decent
Good show. Well put together. A lot of product advertisement but a lot of substance as well. On the most recent episode they recommend Rust-oleum's "Restore" deck paint, which is the worst product on the market as many people are aware (look it up). Instead, I'd recommend SW's "SuperDeck." Good show. Leslie's voice is hot too.

    Good for what it is
Pretty lame if you ask me. The only thing that makes this show even worth the time of day is Leslie Segrete. She is FINE. The show is just paid advertising disguised as a home improvement show. They push a lot of products that are terrible and unproven. Example: Easy Water. This thing is a salt-free water softener. There are reviews all over the place attesting to the fact that this piece of junk does NOT work. It doesn't remove any minerals and it doesn't make the water feel any different. It's just a piece of crap that's not proven and relies solely on hype and shows like these. Another example is lumber liquidators. They push the hell out of this company, as they do with Trex Decking. Look them up and decide for yourselves. You can listen to the show all you want but you're not going to learn anything at all.

    Good content, to many commercials
Please stop telling the phone number to the show after every caller, WE CAN HEAR.........

    Good show
I've enjoyed listening to this podcast, but the theme song and song breaks are incredibly annoying. I really wish it was instrumental instead...

    Love this podcast!
I listen to this podcast all the time. It is very helpful for the newbie DIY person like me. Leslie and Tom work well together and have alot of experience and insight into the best way for a home owner to proceed on the next big project. Keep up the good work!

All I listen to now on my iPhone
I've only listened to 5 episodes so far, but so far so good. A few questions have come up multiple times, but that is to be expected considering that it is primarily a call in show and not a seminar or something. I enjoy the flow and feel that it is helpful for me as I have a house that needs a lot of work.

    Good Podcast-Horrible theme song
I really would have to dissagree with the people saying there are a lot of commercials. I feel like there isn't too many. Once and a while they will throw one in there but its a free podcast, would you rather pay for it? The only reason I didn't give the show 5 stars is because of the God awful theme song. They play it more than once an episode too which drives me up a wall. Though I usually sigh heavily when a woman tries to give me advice on home remodels Leslie is informative and not annoying in the slightest. She knows when to talk and more importantly knows when not to.
  • Sinatra7
    Repetitive
The podcast is informative for a couple of months, but it quickly becomes repetitive. The same questions come up time and again, and the hosts end up giving the same advice over and over. After you've heard eight or ten installments, the chances that you'll hear anything new with further listening are pretty slim.

Same stuff all the time - and way too many commercials
I am enjoying this podcast a bit more than I used to. They seem to be mixing it up a little more. What follows is my former review of a year ago. More than half of this podcast is commercial advertising of some sort. Of the remaining - most are calls that refer to the same solutions over and over - many of which point back to those same ads. Listen a few times and you will get what I mean. Not many people are likely to subscribe for very long. I rarely listen anymore and will unsubscribe. They need to mix it up more and limit the commercials.

    This is great!
This show has lots of information and Leslie and Tom obviously know what they are doing. So I will live through a few commercials so they can make some money and keep the podcast coming. People expect someone to give them free info and not try to make a buck get what they ask for. Nothing. I just saved a few hundred bucks fixing my bathroom myself because of this podcast ... works for me.
  • jimbsf
    too many ads
Way too many ads, but Tom and Leslie are well informed and offer good advice.
  • StevK
Great if your looking for podcast commersials
Love the concept. Hate the HUGE number of commersials. And, call me jaded, but does anyone besides me wonder why they seem to always recommend products from the shows sponsors?

    Worth every minute
This is exactly what a podcast should be. Plenty of content and lots of knowledge. I have learned so much. Subscribe! You won't regret it.
