    Come back
Hello Erica. We hope all is well with you. We miss you. I check just about everyday to see if youā€™re back. Please take care. Please come back.

One of my absolute favorite podcasts!
This is one of my all time favorite podcasts. I love Ericaā€™s attention to detail, and her respect for the victims and their families. I also appreciate her nuanced take on corruption, botched investigations, and so forth when itā€™s relevant to the case sheā€™s presenting. There are very few true crime podcasts that still show compassion to the victims, but Erica really does each episode! I hope Erica gets better quickly ā€” and of course that she takes all the time she needs to recover. Weā€™ll be respectfully waiting for the next drop and canā€™t wait until sheā€™s back!

Love the way the stories are told- one of the best.

    Donā€™t Get The Popularity
Iā€™ve been listening to this podcast for a long time because I enjoy the stories, not the delivery. Her voice truly sounds like she is reading from a piece of paper and she uses a lot of words incorrectly. Still waiting on Part 2 from a Part 1 that she promised would be forthcoming. I am unfollowing. Also agree on the number of ads.

    1 of my Fave podcasts!
So great! Such interesting stories! Great story-telling!! Whereā€™d she go? Again? Darnā€¦ Is it bcuz of šŸŽ stealing money out of the pockets of creators? As if they their billions in profits isnā€™t enough for them? Grifters and Highwaymen thatā€™s all theyā€™ve become!
  • HogFan56
    Love it!!
Im missing her sweet voice..she tells the cases so well. I hope sheā€™s alrightšŸ˜Œ

    Good Show Butā€¦
I love the way she presents the story, straight to the point. However, the audio is way less than to be desired. Wish it was better quality.

Love the show, hate all the commercials.
I absolutely love this show but I canā€™t help but notice it has FAR more advertisements than any other true crime podcast Iā€™ve listened to. I usually skip over them, but when Iā€™m in the shower or doing dishes itā€™s not as simple since my hands are too wet to skip forward.

    Erica kills it
Nicely done. Your way of presenting information to us listeners is spellbinding and I find that yours is my favorite crime podcast. I like how you keep it clean, and are respectful of victims and their families. Thanks to you and your researcher for all your hard work. Makes my daily chores go by faster as I listen.
  • Go_Gobarbie
    What are you selling
Her stories feel as if sheā€™s trying to sell us a house in the places where these murders happened. I donā€™t need a 30 min explanation on why I would want to live in a small town in Kentucky. Just get to the story

    Not great
Listening to my first episode re a guy named Tex and I donā€™t feel like Iā€™m getting a true crime story but spin by an unreliable narrator. Is this woman dating Tex or what? She also doesnā€™t understand criminal law based on her questioning of the felony murder conviction. Wonā€™t be listening to more episodes because I prefer true crime pods that just tell the facts. I donā€™t know who this random woman is and why she thinks her ā€œpersonalā€ opinions on cases are worthy of a podcast.

    Ads
This podcast is absolutely amazing, and Ericaā€™s story telling is so beautiful. However, the amount of ads completely ruins the show. For example the Carrie Lawson Part 1, I skipped three ad breaks within the first 29 minutes of the episodeā€¦ It takes you completely out of the show. It ruins it the episode completely, and I started another podcast. I truly hate to say that, but itā€™s the reality. Also she will call you out and use your name in the podcast if you leave a negative review as she did in the Denise Amber Lee episode which I also didnā€™t like. Even if the person was wrong this is a podcast that thousands listen to, and I donā€™t agree with that.

    Used to be great
I used to like this podcast it was a favorite but recently there has been a shift and we are much more focused on things like race, missing white woman syndrome, and feeling bad for the criminals instead of the victims. Itā€™s sad but itā€™s a unsub situation.

    Excellent Host
Erica has such a way of weaving the tales she covers. She is so gifted at painting the picture of someoneā€™s life in an honest yet compelling way. Thatā€™s what keeps this listener coming back!

    Too many ads
70% ads, 30% content. They will literally cut off mid sentence for an ad read:/
  • patsycrimester
    Ads almost equal the content
I listen to a lot of podcasts, and have been listening to this one for several years. It, by far, has the most ads ever! Was not always this way. I used to like it quite a lot since I live in the south. For the past while, the ads have taken over. I can handle that episodes aren't always available consistently, but the excess ads are making it hard for me to stay devoted to this one.
  • Umm yeah no thx
    Too many ads, Iā€™m out
Iā€™ve been listening for a while, but the ads are excessive enough now to where Iā€™m unfollowing. I listen to a bunch of true crime podcasts, and none of the others take this many breaks to have a ā€˜word from our sponsorā€™.
  • Ribbit6619
More Ads & Opinion Than Content
Itā€™s absolutely appropriate that the podcast circuit, is at long last, fading away. This one is near the top for cringy, opinionated content, and I swear more ads than actual show. If you insist on listening make sure you have access to FF through because every episode has a minimum of FIVE ad breaks and at least 3 ads per block. Thatā€™s on the low end. Erica is constantly throwing in her opinions on things she has no business commenting on-and her opinions are often dead wrong on legality issues. Donā€™t bother with this one, so many better podcasts (for now) to listen to without their political bent inserted.

    Love this podcast
I absolutely love this podcast. Erica and her team really do their research and make sure the information theyā€™re presenting is accurate. My only qualm is the amount of advertisements. I understand why they are in there so I try not to complain. Keep up the good work, Erica!
  • Adrienne from Ohio
    Too many ads
I like the show but thereā€™s way too many ads. It seems like thereā€™s 4 minutes of ads every 5 minutes. I always end up turning the podcast off because of this.
  • Latinanycmomma
    Enjoyable
I enjoy listening to true crime but Iā€™m really picky when looking for a podcast. If the voice ainā€™t it , I canā€™t listen to it. She keeps me engaged and the stories are interesting (although sad). My only complaint is the ads, they are more frequent than other podcasts I listen to. But I understand a girls gotta eat !
  • Creative Arts Director
    Well researched
Well researched which I like and appreciate. A lot of true crime podcasters donā€™t even bother to do this but Erica does. She really cares about the victims. I do prefer the excellent scripts written just by Erica herself because itā€™s in tune with her spirit and personality. The collaborative script writing just isnā€™t her and loses some of the engaging qualities that define Ericaā€™s writing. I can tell when the script was written wholly or partially by someone else. I also want to address a disgusting comment on here written Feb 27, 2024 by gardenfairy86. Talk about a racist, this commenter certainly is. Basically telling Erica Kelly that because sheā€™s white she doesnā€™t have a right to share true crime cases about blacks. People like this dont even deserve a voice. Pay no attention to such ignorant comments.
  • Maryjoahlum
    Awesome!
I love this podcast!!!! Erica rocks! Update- I still love this podcast but thereā€™s no rhyme or reason as to when she drops episodes and thereā€™s always some lame excuse why she hasnā€™t. Itā€™s annoying. Update to the update- over a month and no new episode or explanation whyā€¦
  • JoMaMaJoMa
    lol
Monotone wannabe activist. ā€œFor those in the black community, I stand with you. I feel youā€¦ Not really though, Iā€™m here sitting in a chair talking about it.ā€

I always have my mind made upā€¦
When it comes to guilt and innocence in true crime stories I pretty much always have my mind made up. However, Ericaā€™s research and following narrative has made me think, stop and consider, and occasionally left me wondering what was the right thing to see that justice was realized. So thanks! This has become my favorite tc podcast.
  • Mamaduke84
    Too many ads
I used to love this podcast, but the ads have taken over! It feels like more ads than actual story. I listen to a lot of podcast and this one by far has the most ads.
  • AidanMcGinn
    Way to many ads
Insane amount of ads with the podcast.
  • TheLivingDollface
    Excellence
I love this podcast! I grew up in Nashville and enjoy Southern crime and history. Erica thoroughly researches each podcast and has the gift of weaving the story together in a coherent matter. In other words, her shows are easy to follow, even the complicated crime stories. My only negative comment is that I canā€™t stand background music on any show but Iā€™m just like that. Itā€™s not going to stop me from listeningā€¦I just try to tune it out.
  • Absnjdnsmjsnemxjdkfkmdbdjs
    Donā€™t get it
I really donā€™t understand the high reviews for this podcast. She somehow manages to take really interesting cases and make them extremely boring with here monotone voice. Iā€™m just going to assume the reviewers havenā€™t listened to good podcasts.
  • Tisaan
    My Favorite of All Time!
Iā€™m southern to the core and LOVE this podcast! Anxiously await every new story!
  • KristineFly
    Just PLEASE tell the story!!!!!!
Stories are well researched & written. I just want to here the story in an objective way! I donā€™t want to hear the podcasterā€™s views, feelings, religion, or politics thrown into the story. I usually listen to this podcast for a couple of months at a time. Then I canā€™t take it anymore, and I quit listening for a few months. If it were just a great researched story being told , I would listen consistently.

    Excessive Ad Breaks
This is such a disappointing review to leave, because the quality of the content and the story telling is really good. But the number and length of ad breaks is wild and very obtrusive. Would be an easy five stars without the excessive ads.
  • JinJin1120
    Honest
I love the brutal honesty. They obviously do very in-depth investigations. I love hearing all sides.
  • Butterfly Jones
    One of my favorite podcast!!
Just listened to the Denise Lee episode , what a brave , brave woman !! I cried my heart out over this episode , bless her heart , may she rest in peace šŸ™

    Love love
This is best true crime podcast out there!!!

    Great show
I wish I could discover this podcast all over again. The structure of the episodes is great, the story is thorough, well-researched, and Erica is insightful and sensitive. So good!
  • DoveSoaring
    I like the show, butā€¦
I enjoy the variety of stories told on the podcast, but I do think more diligence would be prudent in the research of the towns involved. I know for a fact there have been instances where the geographical descriptions of locations were wholly incorrect, and some historical facts about the time periods have been wrong, too. When such seemingly minor, yet easily verified details are wrong, how accurate are the facts of the crimes being discussed?
  • lucianokmn
    Too many commercials
I love this podcast but I canā€™t deal with all the commercials. No other podcaster has this many. Iā€™m not alway near my phone to skip them. Way too many
  • Stupidbaboon1245
    Emotionless robotic
The stories are good. And the narratorā€™s voice is pleasant but she reads the script with little emotion. Like a robot. She shows more emotion reading the credits.
  • Babybluestx
    My favorite southern belle
I still love this podcast so much that I donā€™t mind skipping the ads that come up after every 3-5 spoken words.
  • whyyshanhskd
    The best!
I am from Arkansas and itā€™s not often that I hear a podcast covering a case from my state. I love the south and I am familiar with the unique crimes prevalent here. I love Southern Fried True Crime. Ericaā€™s accent paired with her first hand knowledge of the south is the cherry on top of her excellent story telling.

    210
Iā€™ve been a long-time listener and I feel episode 210 is probably some Erica Kellyā€™s best work, second behind The Ballad of Zack and Addie. *chefs kiss and mad respect*
  • RobinChicago
    Well-researched and narrated
The episodes of this podcast always seem thoroughly researched and fairly presented. The narrator is one of my favorites. She speaks at a pace that is measured without being stilted, and is easy to understand.

    Great Job
Iā€™m always looking forward for your show. Listen to it as soon itā€™s available Thank you very much Las Moras The berries
  • Just ok at least for now
    Must Follow
This is actually my first ever podcast, yes I know I am behind the times! Lol Southern Fried did not disappoint! Erica has a great listening voice! I love her take on the episodes and her honesty and wittiness! I also appreciate the way she gives as much honor and respect to the victims and their families as possible, while still giving me the info I need as a True Crime Junkie. I would definitely recommend this show and look forward to every episode!
