Essential listening and also a lot of fun
It’s definitely a podcast for true Marx Brothers fans. When they do a deep dive, it is a DEEP dive. But always with a great sense of fun. They are scholars, yes, to one degree or another, but at heart they are fans. Tonight I am going to light a candle to St. Jude, patron saint of lost causes, in hopes they will finally discover who the manicurist was.

    A good feeling turned sour
I wanted to listen to a fun podcast about the Marx Brothers, but unfortunately this podcast spends a great deal of time criticizing the Marx Brothers. Their movies ranked from “Best” to “Worst”, what bits a “funny” or “unfunny”, which Marx Brother is their “favorite”, all followed by deep discussion about why each host feels the way they do. There is plenty of useful information in the episodes, if you have the stomach for all the critical banter. I listened to the first episode, from March 2018, and the most current episode from July 2022. If I can commend the hosts on one thing, it’s consistency; because nothing but audio quality had changed in 4 years. I gave one star because the podcast put me in a bad mood, with the decision to never listen to it again.

    THE Marx Brothers Go-To
By far one of the best sources for all things Marx, presented in a most entertaining format.

    a fantastic podcast !!
you guys have rekindled my love of The Marx Brothers… as a kid, i received hand-me-downs from my older brother -- books, LP’s & VHS tapes (movies taped off cable). fast-forward 40 years later & i’m collecting dvd’s and watching YouTube clips i haven’t seen in years. i listen & re-listen for a much needed break from what’s going on in the world today. +++ for anyone who loves the thrill of the hunt (( for whatever it is you collect )) you’ll love Ep #28 that has the ups & downs of searching for Marx Brothers memorabilia. --> Thanks again guys !!

A Myst for Classic Film Fans!
As a longtime Marx Brothers fan, I am ashamed to say that I only discovered this podcast a week ago. Hosts Noah Diamond, Bob Gassel, and Matthew Coniam are well informed and legitimately funny. Each episode is impeccably assembled (topic selection, audio quality, guest selection, etc). Of the episodes that I have heard, my two favorites have been the Zeppo episode ( Guest Andrea Orlando makes a convincing argument for Zeppo’s physical hotness and champions his comic abilities in his limited screen time during the first four films) and The Big Store episode (I like Simon’s new “Tenement Symphony” lyrics). If you are a Marx Brothers fanatic or even just a comedy nerd, this podcast is an essential listen.

Better than two hard boiled eggs. Honk! Honk!
Make that three hard boiled eggs. The Flywheel episode in November 2020 was one of the best things I’ve heard in a long time. Absolutely fascinating!!!

    The reason I’m canceling Sirius-XM
Since discovering The Marx Brothers Council Podcast a few months ago, I listen to nothing else when in my car, as I catch up with past episodes. The hosts are funny and entertaining. They bring depth and insight as they examine the films and careers of The Marx Brothers. I am so thoroughly entertained by this podcast, that I stopped listening to Sirius-XM.

    Someday I intend to listen
Wonderful podcast that I eagerly anticipate every month. Thoughtful, entertaining discussion and analysis of the brothers and their films (and other work) and lives. Three knowledgable guys, each of whom brings their perspective, personality, and accent to the podcast. Most of all, they are fans like the rest of us. So get into your sidecar and leave the guy on the motorcycle behind; subscribe today.

    Essential
No Marx fan could fail to like this podcast — you couldn’t pick a better group of people to discuss the brothers, and their guests are also superb. Swordfish!

    Wonderful, smart and funny!
Truly an enjoyable, literate, amusing, smart and insightful round table on the best comedy team ever!

    Love It!
Great podcast about the Marx Brothers. It's informative, funny and the hosts are appropriately self-depricating. There's been some stellar guests and I'm looking forward to some deep dives in the individual films. 4 stars instead of 5 because we need a better mic on Matthew. It sounds like he's phoning in from the U.K.... in 1955. :)

    Hail The Marx Council!
Thank you Boys!! Marx podcast episode 4 was tremendous. I love your approach to discussing the Marx Myths. I thoroughly enjoyed all the segments. Thanks so much for the interview with Les Marsden. I first learned of Les and his amazing Harpo performances in the late 80’s through an interview he did for the now-defunct Freedonia Gazette- when he was a beardless youth. I loved hearing his story about meeting Susan. I too wrote her a couple letters back then just hoping for an answer. My letters were returned unopened. I am so gratified to hear of his meeting her. Keep up the great work— although the podcasts sound like complete fun-and not work at all. Anyway, I can’t wait for the next episode.. Outstanding stuff!! Thank you, Danny

Three Chairs for the Marx Bros. Council Podcast!!
I've been hooked on Marx Brothers films ever since I saw A Night at the Opera at the age of ten. Here I am at 52 and I'm a bigger fan than ever. Coniam, Gassel and Diamond are a blessing for all Marx fans around the globe. Their chemistry is perfect, they really know the Marx Brothers inside and out and once you've listened to just one podcast, you'll wonder how you've ever lived without them. Seriously though, why can't I rate this at ten stars!!
  • chrisivision
    Jumping butterballs!!
If you are a Marx Brothers fan, and have been wondering why nobody talks about the Marx Brothers anymore, think again! Matthew Coniam has ushered in a new wave of Marx-fandom in the new millennium through his website, FB group, books, and now an excellent podcast. Co-hosted by Noah Diamond and Bob Gassell, you’ll be awe-struck. (Don’t forget to hit awe back.) Brilliant dialogue that so far has focused on their films with interviews of Marxian legends. I don’t think you will find any other podcast with imitations of Sig Rumann, and that is reason enough to listen.

    Catnip for Marx brothers fans
The most knowledgable and funny Marx Brothers writers/performers, talking about the Marx brothers for an hour. What's not to like!
  • GregoryRoth
Fans of Marxes will love this one
It's nice to put voices to people I talk to on the Marx Brother Council of Facebook. I think this is a wonderful podcast fro Marx fans. The guys give intersting perspective to their film. I hope they will eventually talk of their solo/television work.
  • Chicamarx
    Learn and laugh!
They all have such love for the Marx Brothers, and it shows. When would anyone be so lucky as to be in a room talking Marx Brothers with the experts? Now, you can be in that room! I heard them talk about things I’ve always cared about, and I also learned some new stuff. This podcast is great, and I can’t wait for more!

    Why a podcast?
I’ve been a Marx fan since the early 70’s and it’s wonderful that this podcast and the internet group , “The Marx Brothers Council”, are around for us to enjoy and learn from. Intelligent, fun and authoritative. Of all the Marx podcasts you’ll listen to today, this one will be the most recent.
  • DanMcK64
    Hail, hail this podcast.
Informative, entertaining & thought provoking. The first two installments seemed to fly by in about ten minutes. This life long Marx Brothers fan is throughly impressed at what I've heard so far. I'm looking forward to each film being critiqued & dissected, just thankful I won't have to clean up the mess that'll make. Rating = 5 hard boiled eggs.

A must for Marx Brothers fans
What's the best Marx Brothers film? What's the correct pronunciation of "Chico"? If you wonder about things like this (and every decent human being should), then this podcast is for you. Hosts Coniam, Gassel & Diamond are as entertaining as they are knowledgeable (and they are very knowledgeable). Can't wait for the next episode!

    The "Animal Crackers" of podcasts
A great introduction for those unfamiliar with the brothers or informative for those who know their movies backward (and you wouldn't get much enjoyment watching them that way).
