Fantastic combination of the “art and science” of business
I cannot remember how I was brought to Melina and her wonderful podcast but I thank my lucky stars I was. She has an amazing way of taking the true academic research and ideas and apply them to everyday business. Her interviews are thoughtful and spirited. She also has a wealth of facts and ideas that I can apply almost immediately after the show. Her bright, happy and energetic way of hosting also just brings light to my day. This is a must have in your subscription list!!

    Wealth of knowledge
Up and coming business owner here! I’ve been listening to your podcast for quite awhile now and have loved every minute of it (except the long introductions that I always skip past, sorry just being honest 🤷🏿‍♂️). Thank you for shedding light on so many different topics. I have complied a long list of strategies to help me on my future business thanks to you! I have been extrapolating the knowledge bombs to incorporate them for chiropractic office success when the time comes. In one of your last episodes I heard the mention of you working with vets, chiropractors and other medical providers in the past. Can you share an episode related to these fields? I would love to hear some insight on how you helped them. I just might need you in my corner when I open up practice 🙌 Thanks for everything you’re doing! Cameron Kelly (Future business owner)

    She’s brilliant!
Melina Palmer knows as much about behavioral science as anyone on earth (she’s a professor who runs a behavioral science program), and she makes the topic so much fun! Great questions and I wish I could have had her as a teacher!

    Beyond Impressed
Well, I have got to say, I am impressed with the work Melina Palmer has done. She is very meticulous in detail with her explanations and I'm seeing the things that she explains on the podcast in my day to day life. That quality of work should not be available for free, but I'm glad she provides it.

    Outstanding Resource
Thank you Melinda for this great resource! I am a cognitive life coach (so work w the brain) and love love love how you dig into business in a way that resonates with me. Behavioral Economics in depth
Marketplace Money's interviews with the Freakonomics team has nothing on The Brainy Business podcast. Melina takes the time to thoroughly research topics and draws in interesting data beyond just the behavioral side of things. She takes the time to examine how we're made, literally, and how that impacts our psychology and buying choices. The Brainy Business isn't just for entrepreneurs. With so many episodes regarding making and breaking habits and how we each are influenced as consumers, this is necessary listening for all humans.

    Love This
I often chide myself for “falling for” some ploy like the availability heuristic, aka FOMO, when the fact is that we all do sometimes. It’s great when someone else gets it and we let them do so!

    I’m learning a lot!
Melina explains principles of behavioral science in a very easy way. This is a valuable educational and enjoyable tool for me. Thank you!!!

Melina is a great podcast host!
Melina is a great podcast host! Terrific interviewer who ensures that those being interviewed look good, as opposed to trying to shine the spotlight on themselves. Read my book thoroughly and had great questions. Since she prepared so well for the interview with me, the conversation was smooth and flowing. Highly recommended!

    Psychology and business=fascinating!
Excellent podcast! Melina is so knowledgeable and has a way of explaining behavioral economics in an understandable way. I found this podcast and now it’s one of my favorites to listen to. I have FOMO because I haven’t caught up on all the episodes but will listen over and over to several because there is just so much info in each episode!

    EXACTLY what I needed
So, a few months ago I realized if I really wanted to grow my business and marketing skill set that I needed to understand consumer behavior. When I commit to learning something I completely surround myself with it. That means I need books, pdfs, social accounts, and podcasts. I found this podcast through a google search and I was blown away. The first episode I listened to was the one about emails and the part about not using too many I statements really stood out to me. What I loved the most though was the hosts ability to make learning consumer behavior fun and easy to digest. Since then I think I have shared this podcast with everyone in my circle. Thank you!

Must listen for anyone who sells!
Melina has changed the way I look at all of my buying choices. She clearly explains the science behind human motivation. Her specific details and examples make it easy to figure out how to apply it to my own business. And she’s fun and not the least bit “nerdy,” even though she’s clearly an expert in behavioral economics!
  • LegacyLoft
So smart and easy to implement!
I love podcasts that make me pause and take notes. I can't get enough of Melina's content. She explains complicated topics in a way that's really easy to digest and implement. I've always been obsessed with psychology, so I love hearing how I can implement brainy tactics into my business!

    Captivating & Highly Valuable
Our brains are a funny thing and so often the course of action I should take to improve my clients’ experiences (as well as increase my profits) are counterintuitive - but they absolutely work! Backed by science and offered through real life stories, this podcast shares extremely valuable insights into human behavior in a way that is both interesting and concise. Every minute is used with purpose and intention and the result is mind-blowing information and inspired action every single week! Cannot get enough of this podcast!!

    Boring & Scripted
You can tell the podcaster is reading from a pre determined script. This makes the podcast extremely dull.

    Most useful business marketing podcast!
If you are looking for practical tips to implement buyer psychology, you don’t want to miss The Brainy Business podcast! Melina takes her time and runs through several practical examples without being icky. I can’t get enough.

    Kudos
Excellent podcast! I am not a business owner but find the info that Melinda presents actually helps the consumer also to become more aware of techniques that are being used to sell us things that we may or may not need. My general interest in behavior, psychology and neuroscience means this is a valuable addition to my mental toolkit.thanx

    Useful and engaging
I am a big fan of Melina after just 4 episodes. Not only is the information she provides interesting, it is also immediately usable in real world business situations. I love Melina’s enthusiasm and energy she brings to the subject and look forward to hearing more.

    DAAAANNNGG! (finger snaps)
Never used this phrase before but...Melina is the truth! She cracked my head open like a coconut. I’m obsessed! I am in the process of opening my own online shop and researching like a mad woman. I came across Melina through The Product Boss. My interest peeked when she said 99.99% of our brains subconscious make most of daily decisions. I mean, I knew that, but when she broke it down in every episode I was YAAAASSSSS!!! When Melina is dissecting in each episode, I’m literally visualizing my moves. I will definitely be taking advantage of the free 15 congratulation she’s offering.

    Rebrand
Hey Melina, I enjoyed hearing your thoughts on New Coke. That was definitely a learning moment for them. I often point to the parallel incident for Ford with the Edsel. Here’s a brand that from design to marketing to naming relied so much on focus groups, that Ford forgot what made them popular. They tried so hard to make a car that everyone would like, that they ended up making a car that no one liked. I see you are in Olympia. I’m in Spokane. It’s nice to hear a podcast from my home state. I’m going to head over Twitter and follow you there. Thanks, Dennis

A Must Listen For Any Marketer
I don’t often rate podcasts nor give reviews, let along listen to episodes multiple times, but this one is that good. Hats off to Melina for tackling these topics. Any marketer who isn’t leveraging what we now know about cognitive bias and behavioral economics is doing a disservice to their organization and is essentially competing with one hand tied behind their back. Put the wind at your backs by applying these principles every day.

Great insights to improve your business
I love how Melina makes the key concepts from behavioral economics like loss aversion and anchoring easy to understand and apply. Melina is also very engaging and uses witty and humorous examples but also examples that are easy to relate to, such as using the scent of the chocolate cookie as the hook to get people excited right away. This podcast is a true treasure!

Practical and Concise with Huge Value
I found Melina’s podcast in a recent credit union newsletter and decided to swap out my Pandora playlist last Sunday at the gym. Thankfully the place wasn’t packed because chuckling and nodding in agreement aren’t the atypical reactions to cardio. 😀 I realize I am going to have to listen to specific episodes more than once with 🖊 and 🧻 at the ready because the information and tips Melina presents are practical, and actionable. I felt a few aha moments in just the two episodes I’ve listened to and anticipate there will be many more to come. As a fellow Sales and Marketing professional, thank you Melina for sharing your knowledge and expertise for the low, low, introductory price of a few minutes of my time. I personally consider it well worth the investment and look forward implementing what I learn.

    Skip College, come here instead!
Seriously, I went to business school and didn’t learn a fraction of what I’ve learned via podcasts. This podcast specifically helps you understand consumer behavior. Being bit by the entrepreneurial bug, I have received exceptional value and ROI from listening to the brainy business as she pin-points the cause and solutions to many of the constraints we all face in business. I’ve seen many business concepts and products fail, and they didn’t fail because they were bad, they failed because the marketing strategy and behavioral approach weren’t considered paramount. Melina won’t let you fail, I promise you.

    Please skip the fluff
The content is great... if you can survive the first 10-15 minutes. Melina- please skip the fluff and get down to the data.
  • gkmm4779
Excellent content once you get past the self promotion
I really enjoy this podcast but definitely do not like the first 12 to 15 minutes of self promotion at the beginning of every episode! I am still listening but find I have to fast forward to get past the lengthy “shout outs” and self advertising for the moderators business. I would suggest trying to limit the fluff and get down to the substance of the podcasts sooner please!!

    Consumer Psychology Whiz

Melina dives deep into the “why” people do what they do to help you incorporate little tweaks to your marketing tactics and methods based on the impact you need it to have on your specific audience.
