stevenheerenWanting more!!My wife and I started listening to your podcast this past year. We have found ourselves wanting to do more in the Adirondacks. We start out as novice hikers, and realize that during our journey to complete the Adirondack fire tower challenge we wanted to do more. My wife and I started with Cascade and Porter and became aspiring ADK 46 ers. We are both not the most physically fit people in the world. With the help of Jame’s Seek to More Program, I feel that now I can conquer some of the hardest 46 peaks. Your podcast has motivated me to another level, thank you!

Irritated in NYBest episode yetMy wife and I have been listening to your podcast for the past few years now and we love it. However the cast about your ADK buck is my favorite thus far. I love listening and identifying with the various hikes, but every emotion and thought that you conveyed in the hunting roadside was one that I’ve felt more than once. Smiles, eye rolls, excitement, and thumping heart right along with you. Again thanks for doing a great cast. Keep on killing it!

Cuvy79Excellent pod! 5 Stars!Your enthusiasm for the Adirondacks is amazing! Latest episode with Wes was really fun to listen to. As an Iowa deer hunter we have great hunting and the “Dream” hunts are always out west, but after listening to you and Wes talking about deer hunting in the Adirondacks makes that a dream hunt for me! I will definitely share this episode with fellow hunters as it was just really fun to listen to!!! Keep up the great podcast and thanks for sharing!!!

Proud Flash MomWill Robinson. FlashFrom Will’s Mom….. Not so much a review as a thanks! Thanks for recognizing Will’s 115 accomplishment! The interview was great. Lots of questions. Lots of answers. Lots of details. I hope he inspires just one person to pursue their hiking dreams. As I tell Will, it’s the baby steps, it’s the now, it’s the dream, it’s your adventure. So, thank you!

Rach22789The best ADK resourceI started listening to James’ podcast this summer and it quickly turned into me binging every episode and made me fall even more in love with the ADK than I already am. I love all the different episodes, especially the trail reports and summit sessions. And the sound quality/editing is amazing. Since finding this podcast I’ve bought the ebook, started my 46er journey and just developed a (healthy) obsession with all things ADK! Would give more stars if I could!

bigfan912Not enough stars for this podcastI’ve learned so much about the ADK, and James’s love & respect for it shows in every single episode.

Scott-BInformative & fun podcastThe host James does a fantastic job bringing the beauty, challenge and plain fun of being in the Adirondacks to us, the listener. He obviously puts heart, soul and sweat into presenting these to us out of a labor of love. Thank you! Plus he sounds like a great guy to have a beer with!

42 year old riderFun, entertaining, and spot on!Discovered this podcast late in my ADK climbing career. 2019 46R (Haystack) but climbing the peaks again with my daughter. The trail narratives and details put me right back on the trails every time. I look forward to getting through all the episodes. The tips and history are really great too. Really makes me appreciate my ADK experience even more. Great podcast!

SaraAnneWilliamsLove it!!I absolutely love hearing your adventures through the 46 high peaks. So informative for those of us working on our 46. I can’t stop listening. I can hear your excitement in your voice which excites me to get back up there. However living 6 hours a way makes it harder. Thank you so much for this podcast!!

Hoser115AwesomeGreat information, entertaining stories, can experience this passion for the ADKs and HP region. Keep it up!

nicole806Spreading misinformation on social media platformsThis podcast’s social media account shared vaccine misinformation via a Spotify podcast. Extremely irresponsible and as an ADK native, embarrassed that this is the foot the host chooses to put forward while representing our region.

A JuhlLove this showJames is a great host and his format is excellent. All around very fun, high quality podcast. James transports you to the wilderness when you can't get out there yourself.
-
xreallyxGreat Podcast! This has been a great podcast to listen to. James is great at explaining his trail adventures while adding funny tidbits and providing helpful information. I have listened to all of the seasons now, but have gone back and re-listened to the first seasons multiple times as I prepare to tackle theses peaks myself. Thank you for the entertainment and education!

That Hike Guy and His DogAmazing ADK 46erspodcast hands down!!This podcast is well beyond 5 stars. I find myself listening to the podcast more and more and I could not be happier. I love how he breaks down every peak, step by step, peak by peak, I was the winner of his winter hiking consultation contest I did on Christmas Day! He help me plan out for me to become an ADK 46ers. klcristGreat hiking/ADK podcast! The Adirondacks is a second home for me so I absolutely love listening to this podcast. Having hiked 13 high peaks myself, this podcast motivates me to continue my way to 46, as well as revisit the peaks I’ve hiked through alternate routes. I already can’t wait for summer 2021 to get back up there. I love listening to the episodes about the peaks I have hiked, remembering the trials and summits as James describes them. I looked forward to my drives to and from work each day. Thank you James!

kfo035Superb usage of audioJust discovered this Podcast right around the end of 2020. I really love how he incorporates actual audio from his hikes and narrates it - instead of just studio interviews like so many other podcasts. You feel like you are hiking with him with his descriptive wording and usage of live sound captured from the trail. That, along with music mixed in, makes this podcast special. Looking forward to catching up on the other episodes!
-

FinntecInspiration on my way to the ADKWether I am driving up to hike or traveling on a day I can not, the 46 of 46 podcast brings stories and adventure in the Adirondack Mountain to my ears. So happy our beloved park has a voice beyond to Blue Line. Thank you James!

Psychedelic SasquatchVoice of the AdirondacksThis show really does an incredible job of capturing the essence and spirit of this Beautiful 6.5 million acre park and the people that passionately explore it! The host is not only a great interviewer when he has guests but he is also a phenomenal story teller and makes you feel like your right there on the summit with him! I love listening to his journeys in the car on my way to the trailheads, it really helps to get my mind right before setting out and has me showing up fired up to hike! Every episode is different from the next making it super refreshing every week and I also tend to learn a lot more than I ever would have about these mountains and people if I had never given it a listen. It was complete luck that I even came across this podcast in the first place and I’m so happy and grateful that I did bc it is now one of my favorite weekly listens that I look forward to every time!
-
Dame Lady DanglesThe definitive ADK podcastI binged all of season 1 in a day earlier this year getting hyped up on starting my 46er journey. Now I’m almost halfway through and still re-listening to the trip reports before my hikes to refresh myself. This podcast has made my long commutes bearable and keeps my love of the ADK burning strong when I’m away. I especially love the long, in-depth episodes on all things ADK, whether it’s talking to FKTers or discussing Bigfoot, and would love to hear even more trip reports from other ADK hiking challenges in the future!
-
hikinglife13Two thumbs upShares a lot of information about the many trails in the ADK. Very helpful and also entertaining, in the same show. If you love hiking the Adirondacks then you should take a listen. To someone that shares the same love for it also

thisnicknameistaken12345678Five Stars, But Only Because Apple Won’t Let Me Leave 10Setting aside the Bigfoot stories which are not my cup of tea, this is hands down the best ADK-based hiking podcast out there. James takes his listeners on a magical journey, sometimes literally step by step, on his ADK hiking adventures. He lays out trails, trail etiquette, best practices, and pro tips like only a Lake Placid native could. He helps people with everything from ways to enjoy views in solitude, making the best out of High Peaks hikes year round, and even how to find the best hikes without dealing with the High Peaks and their abysmal parking. He even dropped two excellent episodes on gear with his talking REI catalog buddy. From spooky stories to soaked hiking boots, this podcast delivers the best of the ADK with intimate knowledge, respect, humility, and the hands down best audio of any podcast out there. Enjoy.

Aaron508Excellent show about hiking in the Adirondack mountainsWhen I was planning a few days of hiking in the high peaks region, I got really solid background from James show and especially his conversation with Jonathan Zaharek more than any guidebook or YouTube video.
-
jfr68954Takes you to the askWhen you haven’t been to one of the chronicled trails yet, this podcast takes your imagination there. When you have been to one of the trails, this podcast takes you back there! Great show! 6/5 stars

hikemoreworrylessLeft a bad taste in my mouth for the hostI’m 100% echo’ing what MorethantheDaks’ review states. A couple episodes in and I’m already turned off from this podcast. I, too, had high hopes for this as it seemed like a great resource for learning about the ADKs and what to expect on some of these routes. This podcast seems to have way too much of a judgemental attitude about what other people do or don’t do on the trails. Constantly berating other hikers for not starting “early enough.” Not all of us live in the Adirondacks. Some of us work M-F and drive 6+ hours to get to the Park for our hiking weekends. Starting at 9-10am on a Saturday is not unusual for me and that doesn’t make me inexperienced or less of a hiker than this guy. I’m an avid hiker and have hiked all the Colorado 14ers and am quite aware that starting late means I might potentially be hiking in the dark well into the evening... instead of eating McDonald’s and taking an afternoon nap like the host talks so much about. Overall I just don’t like this host’s attitude and find it very demeaning and could potentially be very discouraging to newer hikers instead of being supportive & encouraging. Listening to the first handful of episodes was also a struggle because of his clear inexperience and some questionable decisions I feel he made. Yet he is very vocal about passing judgement on other people whose decisions he doesn’t agree with. Not sure I’ll be continuing this if the “better than you” attitude doesn’t fade soon.
-
morethantheDaksA judgmental view from a rookie’s experienceI had high hopes for this podcast and 4 episodes in, have so far been let down. First, it’s just a simple summary of the hikes, which I guess is what I should have expected but was hoping for something more. Secondly, the host often manages an almost chump-like aire, and in a very cliche like manner often judges others that he sees hiking. He makes a big deal about what people do wrong, yet he narrates his FIRST solo ascent. Lack of experience. For instance, If people don’t leave at 5am like the host and leave at 10am, noon, etc, it doesn’t mean they don’t know what they’re doing. Some of us work overnight, drive 3 hours to get to the TH in the morning, some of us actually hike AFTER work and leave in the afternoons, no big deal. The Daks aren’t any more precarious than any other range. If I leave at 4pm, that’s cool, I expect to and plan to hike in the night. Some of us start hikes at 8pm to purposely do a night hike. The constant judgment and cliche voice-of-reason tone throughout screams of naïveté and inexperience. I’ll give it one more episode to improve before I bail.

KatieL :)AMAZING!!This Podcast is incredible and makes me very anxious to get back to the trails this spring with my gf (not a fan of winter hikes yet). We have a few high peaks completed and plan on getting to about half way by the end of Fall. Tough schedules we have so it’s hard to get a lot done.. but the mountains will always be there right? Keep up the great work, once I finished listening to it I started it up again haha. Love it and I highly recommend!
-
toofuntahhI’m hookedI have hiked 8 of the high peaks Algonquin was my first then did cascade porter the next day. Went back in September 2019 for bigslide saddleback gothics Armstrong and upper wolf jaw. And I can’t tell you how much I can’t wait to get up there in June this year. I am truly hooked to this area and you are so lucky to live up there keep up the great work on your podcast can’t wait to hear more

Joe (Keto Round 2)I love this podcast!I love this podcast, I’m not an aspiring 46er. I consider myself an outdoor enthusiast of the Adirondack region. Don’t get me wrong I’ve hiked some high peaks, however I love the stories and the narrative of the journey. As an outdoor enthusiast and photographer (@photos_by_jserio) I usually get to the Adirondacks 3 to 4 times a year and the podcasts have helped me identify smaller mountains to hike with HUGE views to maximize my trips. Overall, amazing podcast.
-
MattADK80Aspiring 46’erGreat podcast! Love listening to this on my way to work. It is great to hear the stories about peaks that I have done and makes me look forward to the ones I still have to hike.
-
PerkiBoyGood stuff...Thank you, sir. My daughter and I are aspiring 46ers and live 6.5 hours away, so a lot of planning is done for each trip, I will be referring back.
