Rob J PhillipsSuper learners stop here…I found it much easier to vary the conversation with my extended in-law family. You know, the way that people normally conversation, let’s say, over restaurant lunch. Order, converse, joke, converse, reflect on agenda for the day, server conversation… If I wanted for anything, it would be an occasional beginner level episode with the regular format, it that makes any sense. Good job!!

nbcvfgjExcellent learning tool!Thank you for making this podcast! It’s just what I needed: normal, everyday conversations on relatable topics slowed down a bit for those learning Mandarin! I love it and have been recommending it to friends!

Groucho PearlGood content and format, but tones matter.I think the format for this podcast is great and they keep their conversations pretty relevant and interesting. However, the husband’s pronunciation can be abysmal. He ignores tones most of the time and it isn’t properly corrected, which is a shame since folks listen to this podcast to improve their own Chinese and probably could use similar correction at times themselves. I think it’s a missed teaching/learning opportunity.

brookw in hong kongRequestWhen your husband says a word in English that he doesn’t know in Chinese can you please say it in Chinese? I hate when he uses English and then we don’t learn how it would be translated. Thanks!

iambarefootExcellent podcastI love this podcast! I listen to their shows over and over again… And their fun banter makes are easy to do. I love how they teach not only the new words but how to use them. But my new favorite thing is the new all Chinese podcasts.I feel like they are just the right level for an intermediate listener, challenging but doable. Please keep them coming!

a non y-mousAwesome format, really fun hostsI love fhe format of both Chinese and English dialogue back and forth. It's just the best. You can listen at a much higher speaking level without losing the thread, and it really does feel immersive. Also the conversational tone is a lot of fun, and I always catch myself smiling or laughing here and there. For anyone who's looking to break into more intermediate-level Chinese (I've been trying to move beyond Pimseur), this is a fantastic use of your time. (I assume it's also great if you're actually intermediate, but I'm not there yet). Recent episodes have had much less grammar and word use (the episode on 'jiu' was amazing!). Would be great to keep mixing those in, because it's way more fun than reading grammar from a textbook! Anyway, great podcast. Unless you're a first-week beginner you should give it a try :)

EgoodGreat podcast for intermediate learners. Most podcasts are either to easy and go over the basics of grammar and vocabulary or are to hard and are spoken completely in Chinese. This is very much a “chill” podcast. It talks about intermediate topics while still staying grounded in English allowing me to relax and learn. Great show!

CAshopperFun way to learn and for listening comprehensionI am beginner but can pick up Karen’s Chinese dialogue - great for listening comprehension. One of best , if not the best, free Chinese language learning podcasts I’ve found- really enjoying listening and learning while doing weekend chores 非常谢谢你!

PDXSean75Great for all levelsI’m an intermediate speaker, and I was worried this pod would be just for beginners. But it has a lot of useful contemporary vocabulary and grammar. It is a great supplement to learning Chinese (or maintaining previous learning)

Jl409Perfect level for me - HSK 3I love that these podcasts mix just enough English so I can understand but don’t have overly-long explanations of grammar/vocabulary. Perfect listening exercises for someone who is advanced beginner/intermediate learner. Thank you!

esmeismeeeBiased presentationI only listened to one podcast, the one about habits westerners can’t get used to in China, and the whole time I was rolling my eyes by how much the host wanted to exhalt China over western habits.

Johnny on the sp0tEffective!!!Having a Chinese and English speaker is unique and effective. I listen to a lot of Chinese and often am either uncertain what I understood, or lost. With this approach, the English commentary serves to reinforce what you think you comprehended. They also make it fun and interesting. Nice job, keep up the good work!!!

Lancel333I love it :)As someone who wants to be fluent in the Chinese language while also understanding the culture, the podcast is awesome for both! They make it really interesting as well. I could not recommend a better podcast for anyone interested in Chinese or China and its customs!
