    Amazing
The show really grew on. It started a bit, “Oh, this is interesting,” and then it was suddenly addictive.

    Amazing!
Lately I’ve had to spend a lot of time in the car, so I’ve taken up horror fiction podcasts. I found a big list of them, wrote them all down, folded them up, put them in a bag, shook it up, and, well, here we are - the first one I pulled was Weeping Cedars. That’s both a blessing and a curse. The writing is phenomenal; I can’t even imagine the amount of work that must have gone into creating literal decades of history for multiple locations. The story can be a bit confusing, as there are lots of names and places to keep track of, but I like horror with a side of puzzle to solve. Of course the voice acting is also great!! Unfortunately every other podcast I listen to has Weeping Cedars to live up to now!! I want to know more about this town and its tragically bizarre history and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for this project.

    muh identity
The unironic obsession with gender/identity stuff is kind of cringe and feels like a political shoehorn in an audio drama that was supposed to be a horror mockumentary. Lee (the narrator) is very narcissistic and pretentious for someone that’s making a weekly documentary about something other than herself. she’s much more of a me-searcher than a researcher. The voice acting is pretty good though, and the production isn’t “over-produced” like mino beats whale stuff, so 2 stars.

    Slow Burn
I thoroughly enjoyed the entire story and the deliberate pacing. Gives you plenty to think about.

Season one was great I genuinely liked it . Season two just felt all over the place.

So excited for this creative horror audio drama
I'm hugely excited for this brand new horror audio drama. Weeping Cedars is an amazingly creative idea. I can't wait to see how this unfolds. If you're a fan of shows like Alice Isn't Dead or Welcome to Nightvale, you will NOT want to miss Weeping Cedars! *UPDATE* September 2022...I loved the original three seasons of Weeping Cedars, and also adored the in-fiction audio drama Into the Shadows. I'm really excited to see where this next part of Weeping Cedars goes.

    What happened ?
Original podcast was very interesting and had some depth but where did that go ? Just drop everything and now it’s a cheesy private eye melodrama ?

    Almost made it
Original, well-written and relatively balanced. The true horror reveals itself when starting in the first episode, it’s revealed that some sneak-thief must have broken in, stolen the script and replaced every occurrence of the word “she” with the word “they” just before going to studio! Because that, and that alone, could be the only explanation that doesn’t invoke, “ :sigh: we’re still doin this…?” in every listener’s inner dialogue, while they rub their thumb and finger over their eyes in exhaustion. Not a bad show though!

    Slow build...Worth every minute!
Came here for a Voice From Darkness podcast, so I had faith to stay through the first couple dry episodes. It was worth it!!! The beginning episodes establish how it should be mundane, but every episode after digs deeper into the eerie history of the town and “facts” not adding up. A clever, historical take on horror. Almost as if you are a research grad slowly uncovering what’s buried in this small town. Please come back with more for 2021!! I need more.....

    Fun listen
I especially love the radio broadcasts. Emma’s delivery is perfect. But in season two Clarence and his gossip corner is gone. He was great!

    Atmospheric and engaging narrative!
I love the lore of this fictional town and being introduced to it through so many different perspectives and tales. I listened a lot while hiking or walking through the woods - would definitely recommend finding a similarly serene and potentially eerie listening space for full spooky effect. Looking forward to season 3!

One of my all time favorites
Well acted, brilliantly scripted, and mind bendingly (not a word until now but I claim it) plotted. I’m on my third listen and continue to find little hints and connections I’ve missed before. Season three can’t get here fast enough!

Such a fun slow burn series!
Do you love well made, brilliantly written, nicely acted podcasts? Then you've come to the right place! This podcast ticks all the boxes for me, especially since I've always loved a good slow burn story that doesn't just give you all the details up front, and I'm anxiously awaiting their next season!

It's Good if you like slow moving Horror
If you're up for fast paced horror action with lots of sound effects and jump scares, this show isn't for you. But if you like a (very) slow build of creepy history and suggestsions about things that are wrong in an old town, you might really like Weeping Cedars!

I was ready to write this off but it convinced me otherwise
I really enjoy the story and how it’s unfolding- or how it’s bringing up a new set of questions. And then we get to the finale. Not the S02 historical podcast, which tried to pull together a hypothesis on the town, it’s stories and it’s short term memory, but the one with girl on the phone and the radio show. What is going on in this town? All I get is that it’s dangerous and people are being forced out of their homes. So I’m waiting for S03. Also, what happened to Clarence’s Gossip Corner?

    Snooze
I honestly wish I hadn’t started this podcast. I listened to the end hoping it would get better, but to no avail. The only saving grace were the news reports. Please give me back the hours I spent listening to this!

    bummer of a second season
season one was delightfully spooky and interesting, but season two is terribly and tragically boring- is begging the creators to bring us back to a spooky small town and away from BBC documentary! PLEASE
  • MsTimory
I have no idea what’s going on really...
But love the voice actors and presentation. News at night is my favorite part...

    Great show
The news is my favorite, I could listen to the actor doing that segment all day! I also like how it switches back and fourth on the type of episodes. I do miss the gossip segment, it was really funny and had a great contrast to the rest of the show. But overall it’s great

    Amazing and atmospheric!
I really love the work this team puts in. It’s spooky but oh so atmospheric and the writing and acting is superb. Additionally, they do a good job or putting out episodes on a regular schedule during the season. Highly recommend!

Historical society documentary + slow burn existential horror
Took me awhile to come around but this absolutely one of my favorite shows now. The voice acting is subtle (probably like a real small town documentary crew would be?) but I’ve found that firstly super relaxing and secondly motivating of re-listens to catch details I missed before. Also, I listen to a ton of horror podcasts and I think this is actually some of the best writing I’ve heard. It’s academic—really academic—with dense fictional sourcing and interconnections. That might not be for everyone, but if you’re a fan of Lovecraft and Borges, and enjoy the combination of smart, somewhat dry histories portraying existentially horrifying events, you’ll love this podcast.

    Ok, not great
The music is wonderful. Everything else is ok at best, but put together, still makes for reasonable listening fare (hence four stars). Structure and concept are good, as is the general sound design. Unfortunately, listening to episodes back-to-back, it feels empty. There are trigger warnings and an unusually large number of (seemingly) shocking deaths. They’re presented with near flat affect, at a glacial pace. Some ‘slow burn’ presentations work, some come across as tedious; the end result of this is a dull podcast. How can this material seem dull? Sticking with it in the hope it improves. There’s a lot going for it - hope it pays off...

    Fantastic Story Telling
Weeping Cedars is a must for those into high quality, audio drama/horror. With each passing episode it keeps getting better and better. I can’t wait for season 2.

    Fantastic show
I cannot believe Weeping Cedars has so few reviews. This is hands-down one of the best podcasts I’ve listened to. Great voice acting, FANTASTIC writing, and good focus. My one quibble, if you could call it that, is that it seems Riley and Emma both refer to Lee with the pronoun “she” in a couple of the last episodes, but Lee is referred to with the pronoun “they” consistently beforehand. I’m not sure if this was an off-air choice on Lee’s part, or a case of misgendering. Anyway, so much love for you podcasters, thank you for making this beautiful show.

    Slow burn
Good voice acting, slow burn, and accurate representation of archaeology
  • tractorwolfray
    Immersive
Top notch production values, and I really like the alternating episodes that jump between a documentary-style podcast about the strange town of Weeping Cedars, which provides a skeptical eye to odd events, and the local news and night station, which is hosted by people who are more caught up in the middle of events.

    Very entertaining
    Love it!

    Very captivating story so far!
This podcast sucked me in right from the first episode! There are plenty of tidbits dropped in the episodes I've listened to so far that lead your mind to wonder about a hundred different possibilities of what is really happening in Weeping Cedars. And it will keep you coming back for more to see if any of your predictions are correct. Highly recommend!
