Dan John has spent his life with one foot in the world of lifting and throwing, and the other foot in academia. An All-American discus thrower, Dan has also competed at the highest levels of Olympic lifting, Highland Games and the Weight Pentathlon, an event in which he holds the American record.

Dan has written 14 books and has been coaching for over 40 years. He is a wealth of knowledge and is happy to share it freely.

    I always come back to Dan John for the truth about what is needed for sustainable training and health. Everything is sensible and doable whether to be an elite athlete or just being the family member/ friend people need in a pinch.

I’ve learned to boil down my training to the most effective basics, a shift that has led to more consistent training, which has led to better results and more fruitful carry over to everyday life.     Dan John has so much knowledge in the fitness world. I appreciate his insights and how he takes the time to answer our questions. I am partial to the kettlebell and body weight information, but for those who power lift, Olympic lift, or mobility work etc, Dan he has a vast knowledge in a lot of areas. Thanks for sharing it with us Dan!

    As a 52 year old lifetime intermediate powerlifter who listens to a lot of podcasts, Dan John’s is consistently the most relatable. I listen to several Powerlifting specific podcasts, and I always ask myself “what would Dan John think about this?“

    Dan John is the man. Make sure to ask him medical advice and while you're at it feel free to modify the easy strength program as much as possible. If I had to criticize something about the show it would be the volume. I’m a dairy farmer and have trouble hearing the podcast over heavy equipment. Thanks for the content.

    The fact that Dan John gives away his knowledge FOR FREE!!!!.....is highway robbery for us listeners. This is Olympic Level coaching for free The amount of knowledge this man has about strength, conditioning and life is astounding. No ego, straight shooter who actually cares I’ve submitted two questions to the Pod and he’s answered both. Pound for pound, no other podcast comes close to giving out this amount practical knowledge.

    I’ve been lifting since my teenage years and I’m 35 now. I just wish I had some like like Dan John to teach me when I started. I learned a lot of lessons along my journey and had some injuries which wish Dans wisdom might have been avoided! This podcast supplies you with so much information regarding life, lifting, and being a good person I believe anyone can get value through it even if your not into fitness. Dan provides years of trial and error and what he’s learned along the way. If more people would take Dans advice I think we would all be healthier and better people. Dan John university is an amazing site and I have belonged to it since it started. Great people and great info. Thank you Dan for all you do!

For years i have follow him through his writings and the occasional guest appearances in others podcasts but i am delighted that I can now hear from him directly every week.     I listen to at least a dozen different lifestyle, training, and miscellaneous podcasts but this is one of only 4 that I subscribe to. Dan is like that uncle you always looked forward to hearing from at the holidays because he always had the best stories and thoughts. In this day and age of flash-in-the-pan training and lifestyle philosophies, it’s good to hear from someone who’s been practicing those philosophies for longer than some of these new scheisters who’ve been alive. Very highly recommend this podcast.
