I can’t put into words what this podcast means to me because I am autistic (lol)
Wow. Granted, I had a huge need in my life that this podcast perfectly fit… but this podcast changed my life. For some reason adding a second child to my family really threw me off. Everything was an incredible struggle. I needed a change so I decided to finally get that neuropsych assessment done so I can start the adhd medicine that I knew I needed. Come to find out I not only have adhd, but I am also autistic. As a 42 year old cis-white male attorney father of two, I had never considered this. I wa not educated about it and no one throughout my life ever suggested it. Sure, I had sensitivity to sounds, but I was just weak right? Parenting for me is a constant moment to moment risk assessment and I am constantly on edge, but I’m just weak and selfish because I’d rather be alone right? When I was diagnosed I was so upset. It sent my already ongoing burnout into a full meltdown (I think). I have spent my whole adolescent life trying not to be a “r-slur” (I grew up in the 90s) i have such an internalized disgust for anything atypical because I was bullied about being that very thing and my entire motivation in my social development was to not be what everyone ridiculed me for because that’s what would make it stop. In my attempts to find some source of information that resonated with me, I happened upon the episode about 4 signs of internalized ableness or something like that. It truly changed my whole perspective of myself and how I’ve gone through life. That episode was that one thing I needed to feel a positive connection to this diagnosis. It explained everything I knew about myself but I was previously only able to evaluate under the neurotypical expectations I was taught. Hearing that episode made me realize this diagnosis isn’t a curse as I had taken it, but the key I’ve always needed to finally understanding myself and why I have struggled the way I have. The host is so affirming and welcoming. The tone is more from a parenting angle, but honestly the way my brain works I can apply the knowledge to myself easier that way. Everything I have heard is presented very well and with care.

    Always great
I always enjoy Holly’s info, her podcasts, webinars and guests. I put them on while cleaning and doing things around the house. Sometimes the info is stuff I know, sometimes it’s all new, but I usually always learn one thing I didn’t know or come away with something I can try that I haven’t with my daughter (11) with ASD and ADHD or my husband with the same who didn’t know he had it until diagnosed at 51 while during our daughters diagnosis journey. Keep up the great work.

    Self advocacy episode
This episode definitely convicted my heart. Listening helped me to see how discounting my 8-year old son’s grocery store experience last week was/is detrimental to his progress in speaking up for himself. He has struggled with aggression since the age of 3, that’s when we started behavioral therapy. We’re finally making progress in that area and he’s been more vocal about his needs! I had to change so much! I needed this time to self reflect on areas of needed improvement for myself. I’ve asked the Lord to search my heart and He always answers (Psalms 138:23-24). I’m truly thankful for this podcast.

Thank you for helping with this information. The more educated the less scary it seems to understand. This community thrives in a village setting versus the do it alone island. Thank you Holly.

    Excellent resource
This podcast is an excellent resource with practical, easy to digest information. I live the variety of topics and guest speakers. Invaluable!
This podcast is SO helpful! I’m an occupational therapist working with kids who have autism and a parent of two kids with ADHD, as well as having ADHD myself. This podcast addresses issues that are often overlooked or glossed over in other sources. You will get information here that you can’t get anywhere else. Look through the list of topics and I guarantee you will find one that interests you! Holly also gives a lot of helpful advice along with giving you an understanding of the underlying issues. This not only helps you know how to approach a particular issue, but how to approach it with empathy and understanding. It’s invaluable for both parents and professionals.

Game Changer for this Personal Care Manager
I absolutely love this podcast and have learned so much. I so appreciate the knowledge, sharing of stories and for featuring these fantastic professionals. I am a Professional Care Assistant for an fantastic adult for almost 3 years now. She is more than a client, I consider her to be my sister. I started with very little knowledge and struggled with so much on “getting” through and understanding her responses and reasons with everything from completing tasks and reaching personal goals. Even with the hiring agency’s on-line employee training program I felt completely lost…until I found this life changing podcast. Thank you SO MUCH for providing this wonderful resource.

    Autism and Suicide
This was my first time to hear this broadcast and it was very eyeopening. Her guest was so enlightening and also shared example of all the things neurotypicals do wrong because of ignorance. I have a teen grandson with autism and ADHD who struggles daily. Thank you for your program.

    Outstanding
I am a 57 year old ASD & ADHD woman who wasn’t diagnosed until age 40. There are so few resources for adults, most information is directed towards parents of neurodivergent children which makes sense. Holly has the unique ability to address her content in a way that addresses everyone. A true hidden gem!
  • Sunbeams11
    Great resources offered and podcast!
I have been listening to many autism podcasts. Dr Holly is a professional in this area having a child on the ADS spectrum herself. It’s always resonates with me when someone has walked in your shoes offering what she finds works. The information and guests are interesting and again offer insights, reminders, and Helpful information!

    Fantastic
The best podcast I’ve found where each segment is a spitting image of my daughter. I haven’t found other collections of information like this anywhere else. There are good days and bad days but each day we come a little bit closer to a better understanding of the how and why things are the way they are and how we as parents can better cope and get help.

    Wow
Such a wonderful podcast! My son has been diagnosed with ASD, I myself have ADHD and ASD. This podcast has been so helpful !

    Excellent
This podcast is insightful, thorough, and concise. I listen weekly and always take away helpful information or tips. Many neurodivergent children (autism and ADHD) have siblings who have a specific journey. I’ve noticed there aren’t many resources available for siblings. Perhaps a podcast with resources or tips for the sibling would be helpful as well! Thank you for all you do!
