LC135790A favorite podcast! This show provides a ton of information and covers topics that are so important for anyone who wears clothing.
-
Rlg1039I’ve listened to every episode, this podcast is so inspiring!I’ve been a Clotheshorse listener for a few years now, and can honestly say this is my favorite podcast! As a fellow fashion industry ex-pat, it is so affirming to hear Amanda’s fresh and concise takes on where the industry is failing us, how it got this way, and what we can do about it. All of the guests are so interesting, too. I loved the episodes about laundry, working at Goodwill, and resellers! This podcast inspires me to move past the sadness and disappointment about the current decline of fashion, and to imagine and take steps toward a better fashion future!

WallacebeeAmanda rocks! What a great gift to the community! Only recently discovered the show post jamboree and am psyched that there might be a west coast jamboree next year! Anyways, Amanda obviously doesn’t get a lot back from producing this show, but it comes from her heart and she is def a brain trust in the slow fashion space, having paid her dues in the fast fashion space. Knowledge is power, and she is paying it forward. Keep producing, please! And I get to listen back in time to catch up with the pearls she has already produced over the last few years. Thank you Amanda and your amazing guests!
-
the-dope-hatIt’s okWhen the host gets to the podcast topic, it’s actually really interesting. The problem is the first 15-20 min of each episode have nothing to do with the podcast and it’s often just rambling.
-
LySS<33Extremely important information shared in an approachable wayI just found this podcast and I am loving it! Not that I love the complete dumpster fire of capitalist society but I am loving how much thorough information you share in each episode and break down very clearly how it affects us / everything. I just got done listening to the SHEIN episodes and wow! I knew it was cheap clothes and sketchy practices, but there’s is so much more impact than I realized! Thank you for making this show and I am so excited to keep listening so I hope you keep making episodes!! I’ve never left a review on a podcast before but I feel really connected to this topic and inspired to do something.
-
Alitee essFascinating, entertaining podcastI absolutely devoured the SHEIN-sodes, one of my new favorite podcasts!
-
KjpaintsPlease stayI just found your show and it gave me so much joy to hear that people are trying to change the fashion industry. I didn’t know anyone was even trying. That you’re working on a bill is so exciting to me. Please keep your show going and keep working on the legislation. The world needs both.
-
julie j sharingGreat Podcast when it is a podcast….Way too many digressions about personal life that very only tangibly relate back to the topic. Not for me, but understand why it’s for others. Still listening for the fashion tidbits. (Truly tidbits)
-
lillmaruYou have made a difference with me!Ignore the haters, your show has made a incredible impact on my life.
-
ahnajennineFantastic PodcastI worked in fast fashion retail for 12 years and saw a lot of horrible things. I have since left and started knitting/sewing my own clothes as well as trying to buy secondhand to the best of my ability. Amanda’s podcast reinforces why I do it and has opened my eyes to so much more than I could even imagine within the fast fashion industry. Amanda, I do hope you continue the podcast, you are doing so much good in the world with it!
-
AwesomePossum3You are amazingAmanda, you are amazing. You are a truth teller and speak with an authority that I haven’t found in any similar podcast. For every 99 of us who love you, 1 person might have a different opinion. And you know what? You can’t control how they feel - full stop. We can only control ourselves. Lean into the love of the 99 of us and don’t let that 1 person tell you how it is, lest you change yourself for them, to the chagrin of the other 99 of us 🙂
-
FashionistaBetchI am here for the changeI listen intently to everything you have to say, it means so much. But you’re most recent podcast. Hit hard in a good way. The quote you made” nothing changes without people” and how we need to bring more people in to this community is so important. The one thing I really see on social media is the lack of connection. The way brands want to achieve fame, but not invite people in,that really want to help make that change. We should all be following each other, talking., connecting, even outside of social media. That is the one thing that’s been very hard for me on social media.; is trying so hard to speak up and have a voice and connect, and it being met with silence. I would love to see how we could change that! I thank you for your podcast. It has really made a difference to me in a very impactful and positive way.

ErindesdagIt feels like I’m listening to a friend!I’ve been listening to Clotheshorse for years now, but I’ve been holding off on writing a review until I could best articulate why I love this podcast so much. I read somewhere that the reason they think that Meghan Markle’s podcast didn’t succeed was because she was so guarded, and the best podcasts have speakers that let their guard down. And Amanda does just that. If you haven’t listened to an episode and your eyes are doing that cartoon thing where they spring out of their sockets upon looking at the length of each episode or the amount of episodes, let me assure you that it goes by really fast. I feel like I’m listening to a friend. A friend that does really good research and takes pride in their work. A friend that lets their guard down. A get-a-grip friend who’s there for me when I’m tempted to impulsively buy more clothing. A friend that motivates me to want to do my part to make a change in the world.

QueenBreenSo much more than clothesI’ve been listening to only one podcast with any consistency for probably ten years now and this one has been the first one to replace it as my go-to, favorite podcast. I just started a job in retail so I was looking for podcasts about fashion and the industry in general. I got all that and so much more with Amanda and Clotheshorse! Amanda is very articulate and has an impressive vocabulary! I’ve heard her mention that her partner (Dustin?) does the audio and is very particular about it and it pays off! The audio quality of this podcast is superb! There is nothing more annoying than a podcast with terrible audio! You’re killing it Amanda! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
-
Id behavingMy Favorite PodcastI have learned so much from my podcast. My favorite thing about the Clotheshorse podcast is that Amanda takes incredibly well-researched deep dives on heavy and complex issues, but never makes the subject matter feel overwhelming or intimidating to us listeners. The podcast is smart, at times funny, and has a ton of heart. Highly recommend!
-
randomreverendShould be required listeningAmanda’s detail-packed episodes reveal some of the hidden realities of clothing production & consumption in our society. I wish I had learned so much of this in college or even high school, but turns out a lot of people make money from hiding the truth! Amanda busts it all open with compelling storytelling and a soothing voice. I can’t recommend Clotheshorse enough.
-
JejefefeWhat a good listenI’ve been listening for 1 year or so at first I thought this was about fashion ins and outs etc and I was not about it but then realized that it’s about the most important thing- how to think about clothes and the environment and all the minutiae that is involved with it, a looking at how people can change within this realm. Such an important podcast that I hope reaches more folks. It’s really made me question my shopping choices and helped me to rearrange the archaic mindset of fashion in general. Even as a mini time reseller of clothes, there has been so much to learn. Listening to the host is like listening to a cool older sibling I never knew and all of their cool super smart friends. Yay!
-
RCW_SFAmanda speaks the truthHaving worked in the corporate retail/apparel industry for 15 years, I can say that Amanda is the real deal (not that you needed me to confirm that, it’s obvious by her incredibly thoughtful and detailed take on every topic). I can’t listen to Clotheshorse in public because at least 5-6 times an episode I’ll exclaim “Ha!!!” and/or “yep!!” very loudly. You should listen to this podcast.
-
Bulgur BuddieA wonderful podcast!Episode 3 about reselling truly resonated with me. When Amanda spoke about the impact of trolling and mean messages , I could totally relate. So many great points were made on all the subjects covered. There is so much I could say , but the gist of it is: As a long time re-seller, it was very life affirming to listen to. Thank you !
-
@a_thrifted_wardrobeThe only podcast I tune into religiously!I never miss an episode and always look forward to the next. When I can’t wait, I am slowly making my way through the older episodes. Amanda is a relatable host and breaks down topics in easy to understand ways. It’s a very well researched show and I feel like I’m meeting with a friend each week.
-
JesToddSo amazingI love how well-researched each episode is, the banter and the little sentimental moments. I always walk away feeling really hopeful. Love it.
-
QueerGymRatLove this!New favorite podcast! Love that Amanda talks about individual action, consumer action, and policy instead of presenting them in opposition. The anticapitalist ecofeminist analysis of fashion and crafting we all need, and this podcast has brought me so much inspiration! Has a lot of ads, but they’re all for small sustainable businesses; I don’t always listen to them all but do love to skim them and have them in mind. Fantastic podcast. Disappointed about the athletic greens ad—diet culture everywhere

Every Fall in FranceWhat I sort of knewI always wondered how primark sold things so cheaply ( both quality and price). I need to walk into a forever21. Through this podcast I realized I am rarely in clothing stores. I am not a clothes horse. I never think about clothes until I really need something. Now I think about it. So, If you buy new, this podcast is for you. If you already buy second hand, this podcast is for you. This is a really great podcast and will make you think, really think, the next time you go shopping. Oh and I love learning about all the small independent companies I can buy from that she talks about. I am stalking them now.
-
ShewhocannotbenamedGetting into the politics and meaning behind secondhandIt’s so easy to just have a pod about fun things we buy at the thrift but this is not it. The host gets into the behind the scenes of secondhand clothing cycle retail and consumer side. Really compelling and great discussions are had here.
-
Alex__10Fantastic fashion resource!I recently found clotheshorse on Instagram and started listening to the podcast. I’m a huge fan of slow fashion and really interested in sustainability. This is an awesome podcast with diverse voices in so many different areas in the fashion, actionable steps, and great content! Please give this podcast a listen!
-
Audrey Audrey AudreyYes yes yesI worked in fast fashion for years, at retail and corporate level and in design rooms. This podcast encapsulates why I no longer do so. The world needs to hear this!
-
mrsgrieveSo good!As a long time lover of shopping, I am finding this podcast so interesting and so good. Such good information and delivered in a manner that I can literally listen to it all day. I recently discovered this podcast and started listening at the very first episode. I want to change my shopping behavior- buying less things overall and higher quality/more sustainable items. This podcast is giving me the information and motivation needed to make this change. Everyone should be listening. Keep up the great work and thank you for creating this pod.
-
sillylily2021Such a great show! This show is awesome— letting consumers know what actually goes on behind the big (and small!) brands. I really love the transparency and the down to earth delivery. Super excited to learn more as I keep listening. Thanks Amanda!
-
AdAstra12961Educational AND fun!!I love both of Amanda’s podcasts and have listened since the beginning. I finally was compelled to leave a review though because of her cat’s name being an homage to Janet Yellen. I always say to my baby girl ‘they call you Janet cause you yellin!’ and crack myself up. Love her sense of humor, even a 2 hour podcast flies by!
-
PerelafraiseInspiring and InformativeI’ve learned so much from this podcast! It’s absolutely fascinating and eye opening what goes on behind the scenes in the fashion industry. Amanda (the host) does an amazing job of educating on the subject of sustainability, without being judgmental or doom and gloom. I truly feel inspired after each episode!
-
Addicted111Ads anxietyFirst time listener, I was trying to listen to episode 97. The ads at the beginning of this go on for almost 10 minutes. I couldn’t even make it to the actual content because each next ad gave me more anxiety. My anxiety peaked when I realized I was at minute 7 and still no end of ads in sight. I get you have sponsorship contracts but you shouldn’t do more than a minute or two at the beginning and share the rest at the end. And they list the actual content start time in episode notes. If you’re losing listeners because of overwhelming ads at the beginning, then consider that this poorly planned podcast.
-
LakeRubyCurrent favorite podcastRecently found this podcast through a friend’s IG post and I am hooked. I am loving to/hating to learn all about the horrors of fast fashion. The interviews are fascinating! I keep sending links to my friends. I’m also appreciating the episodes about “slow gifting.”
-
Meredith4RealA must listen if you are a human who buys thingsI first fell in love with Clotheshorse because it was the fashion industry podcast I had been searching for. As the pod evolved, I was blown away with how many things I would learn each episode- not just about clothes, but about consumerism, waste, the dark side of a lot of things 🤣and meet amazing guests who are out there making the world a better place. Amanda pours her heart and soul into each episode. Everything is thoroughly researched and reviewed and it shows. Her live and passion for what she does shines through. On top of it, her IG page is AMAZING with highly informative posts.
-
mirtrainWoOoOooOoooooWThe energy contributed by the host & guests into making this world a better place is unmatched. From amazing guests, to the extensive research, the genuine thoughtfulness and major awareness of all detrimental subjects. From the environmental impact we have on the planet, the clothing & products we purchase and why we buy them, to business practices & ideologies, to the corporate brain/green/delusional washing. I will appreciate this podcast forever, it has cracked open my pattern of thought on many subjects in my life. Thank-You Amanda for all that you do, I want to be your friend!
-
Andrew BrozynaInformed & FascinatingExcellent informed talk on the business of clothing: behind the scenes scoops on fast fashion corporations, interesting info on the what goes on with the buying and selling of second hand clothing, and what it’s like running a small business in fashion.
-
EmmmGrahamThe Podcast I’ve Been Searching For!Okay so I’m literally 22 minutes into the most recent episode, which is my first clotheshorse episode ever, and I’ve already become a patreon patron because THIS IS THE PODCAST IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR!!! Seriously, I’m learning so much and absolutely loving it. Super glad my friend told me about this show!
-
sarah8977777Always learn a lot!Amanda gives you a lot to ponder about the clothing industry in this podcast. Every episode is very well researched and focuses on one aspect of the industry from labor rights to shipping costs to what happens in thrift stores. I really appreciate her insight and my buying habits have definitely changed as a result of this podcast!
-
breathethelightThought-provoking and informativeIf you wear clothes, you need this podcast. It makes you think about every single element of textile and clothing production, from the tags and tiny embellishments, to global macroeconomic commerce and buying trends. It also delves into the broader effects of work and the toll it takes on the modern American worker. Must listen!
-
DenisetasticIncredibly in depth knowledge, and fun!I absolutely love this podcast. It gets deep into the fashion industry, and how we can all make more sustainable choices. I was already trying to make better choices in how I use my money but this show pushes me to do better all the time! Plus Amanda is so good at breaking it all down and also so very funny. The delia’s episode is the best!!!!!
-
brookemb98So Thoughtful & InformativeSuch an amazing podcast! I always learn so much from Clotheshorse (podcast & Instagram). Highly recommend if you want thoughtful commentary on the fashion industry.
-
Attic VintageThis podcast is the best!I absolutely love this podcast. As an owner of a small second hand business (@atticvintagepdx) I have learned SOOO MUCH from Amanda. She shares her industry knowledge in an up front, informative and critical way. Plus she is hilarious! Instead of having ads from big corporate sponsors, she uses her podcast to uplift small sustainable brands. This is the anti-capitalist, pro-worker, sustainability-focused podcast you need in your life!
-
cascaddisListen if you are anti-capitalist but love clothesI am so grateful for this podcast. I've been slowly listening to it to catch up (I'm still behind I hope I'm not a disappointment Amanda!!!) and each episode I learn so much!! I love how Amanda approaches this gnarly topics and the insight she and her guests give about fashion. I think she does a beautiful job walking the tightrope that is "there is no ethical consumption under capitalism but I still want to make better choices". She does a great job informing the listener without judging. Not to mention how Amanda brings in her own experiences of buying for fashion brands the ethical icks she was often faced with. As an environmental scientist - I personally love how listening to this podcast has helped inform me on the social aspects of fashion and the pollution it creates. We have to see issues from all sides in order to tackle them and Amanda is clearly helping to do that!
-
tdk1500Perfect for anyone wanting to learn more about the fashion industry and sustainabilityI love Amanda’s approach to tackling the issues within fast fashion realm. She explains everything in a way that’s understandable, relatable, and interesting. I love that this is a safe space free of judgement and how it fosters conversations with others on what else we can do to make the world a better place. I’ve learned so much from her and she truly inspires me.
-
MsMeghanCalahanSee how the fashion is madeAll the behind the scenes details you need to know about the clothes you wear…this podcast keeps teaching me so many things! Dive in to the often unscrupulous world of fast fashion, learn about trends and over-consumption, get the scoop on outlet and factory second scams and feel lucky to hear about a wide variety of knowledge only a clothing insider would be privy to. We arent worthy!
-
C RippaExtremely InformativeI started listening to this podcast from a vintage seller on Instagram. I’m so happy I chose to listen. It really gets down into the depths of how fast fashion works. I loved it so much I got a few of my friends hooked as well. I can’t wait to catch up!

Claire-ityIf you live on this planet you need this podcast.I came for the sustainability topics and stayed for the full spectrum coverage of ALL THINGS IMPORTANT TO LIVING BEINGS on planet earth. Expert hosting and guest interviews, this podcast helps us pinpoint how WE CAN GET TOGETHER and change OUR world.
-
Glitz && GlamourProgress over perfectionClotheshorse is necessary listening for anyone who wants to be an educated, ethical consumer (and shouldn't we all want to be that??) - not just for fashion and clothing lovers but literally anyone who has ever bought anything! The fast fashion model has taken over all facets of retail. Clotheshorse helps tackle that with fun, deep dive interviews with people in various retail roles, meticulous research about the harm and waste of capitalism, and even thoughtful advertising to support hosting the podcast and associated blog. Amanda is definitely the person who carried the group project in middle school on her back and made sure everyone got an A despite not pulling their weight. She somehow manages to sound cheery and hopeful while talking about the ills of capitalism.
