This was a great show while it lasted!
What happened to season two? This was a great podcast, and I especially like that the host called an expert on the topic, which helps this podcast be more informative. The bottom line: If you want to learn some home-improvement topics, this is a good podcast. If you want something that is updated regularly, look elsewhere.

    Left hanging…
Podcast was a great 1st season… what happened? Season 2 should be in mid season form by this point. Please put out more content. Thanks

    Helpful for new homeowners
This podcast helps with some of the little things and topics I need to know about fixing my home. I’m kinda handy but not very experienced. The host helps interpret the homeowners’ issue and follows up to make sure the expert comes across well in audio. I personally like the repetition because I’m visualizing my own sticking door or whatever the first time through. There’s room for improvement but please keep them coming!

    It’s not bad
I’m sorry, I just can not listen anymore. The host rots. Stupid banter, stupid questions, stupid comments. I like this podcast but not as much as I liked clearstory with Kevin. I think this podcasts merely touches the surface of things but does not get into the nitty gritty of the issue they are covering.

    Podcast needs a renovation
The TOH tv show is still pretty true to the original format (although way more rehearsed than it needs to be). Ask This Old House tv episodes are good but a little phony for the savvy viewer. The magazine is good and reliable. But this podcast? Wow. It is not up to the level that decades-long viewers and consumers of TOH expect (and yes I’ve been watching since I was a kid in the 1980s). This podcast needs a renovation of its own. Ditch the boring host who does way too much small talk with the homeowner and TOH cast. You spend half the thing talking about the problem, go to a lengthy commercial (which I always skip anyway) and then recap the homeowner’s issue to the cast member. It’s just boring guys. There should be no host. The Ask TOH tv segments don’t have hosts. It’s Rich seeing the homeowner at the door (in a massively rehearsed way) and saying, “Nice house. So you called about a leaky toilet,” and then the CAST MEMBER guides us through the segment, not a host trying to be charming but just getting in the way. So let me help you guys out. Here’s how the podcast should go. 1. Short Ask TOH music — the same the TV show (think consistency and branding, guys!) 2. Rich says, “Welcome to the Ask This Old House podcast. I’m plumber Rich Trethewey. Today’s episode is sponsored by Korky, which offers the best flappers, fill valves and more for all your plumbing problems. Today we’re talking with Anna from Columbus, Ohio, who wrote in to say she tried to replace a toilet herself and it’s rocking back and forth too much. Hi Anna! Welcome to the show.” 3. Rich and Anna talk about the problem. She has time to ask genuine follow up questions, not just rehearsed stuff like the TV shows. Let it be a real conversation which will then require real producers and editors to make it good. 4. Rich might even say, “Hey we did a similar job on the Ask This Old House tv show and check the notes for this podcast to find a YouTube link.” (Think cross-platform promotion, guys!) 5. Rich thanks Anna. Anna thanks Rich. Rich says, “Ok that’ll do it. Please subscribe so you can hear more and keep an ear out for future podcasts where we’ll discuss bats in the attic, cracked driveways, and a mysterious flickering light in the dining room on the Ask This Old House podcast.” 6. Closing music from the Ask TOH tv show. 7. You’re welcome. Trust me, fire the current host and follow steps 1 - 6.
