    Good, but one thing…
I am a long time listener and love this podcast so much. The story telling and added sound effects are top tier. My only complaint is that god awful theme song. It gives Casio keyboard mixed with Transylvania ghost story. It’s. So. Bad.

    Number 1
I listen to several true crime podcasts among others and I can’t believe I’m just now finding MIA. Top tier research! You guys do a great job and I’m glad you don’t use alternate wording like unalive and grape. SMH. Anyway. Yay!!!

    A New Fav of Mine
I’ve been listening to this show for about a month now. I think the writing is very good and the details add to the real life intensity of the cases they discuss. It can be very graphic so maybe not some people’s cup of tea. I love the deep dives, and multiple part episodes. I work at a surgical pathology lab and listen thru AirPods while I am at work. I do skip the episodes involving children, however I highly recommend the podcast overall!

    Top true crime pod
As a regular true crime podcast listener, Murder In America remains my favorite podcast. I appreciate that they just get into the story without all the extra fluff. Sometimes I’m just not in the mood for the banter. Not to mention their voices are very nice to listen to, Courtney especially has a soothing and even tone. And for the people who also get the ick from mouth sounds or little things in the way people’s voices are, this is a great choice. Please never stop, love ya so much.

    My favorite
The stories they cover are done so well and they do great work and research. I love the juxtaposition of their voices and how they use that during the pod. Every case makes me jaw drop at some point

    Well researched; poorly received
I’m not sure how I feel about this. I appreciate that the topics are well researched and clearly stated in a respectful manner. I appreciate the way that certain topics are approached so as to dissuade prejudice. I don’t appreciate the need to use adjectives that hit home how gruesome a murder is, as if we aren’t already aware that a murder is gruesome and harrowing, along with making it a theatrical production. The podcast is borderline disrespectful. Just because you are doing the bare minimum of acknowledging the victims, doesn’t give you the right to literally set the scene. Who wants to feel as if they were actually present for such a traumatic event?

    Best True Crime Show
The detail that you provide is amazing. The presentation of the information is not like any other show. The account of each events is very clear and easy to follow.

Hosts add their personal political agendas into stories
The stories are good but there are a lot of editing mistakes in the audio like weird long pauses, or repeated sentences. But the biggest thing is every story has a part where the hosts add their own political opinions / agendas into the story which makes it uncomfortable.

Five stars, they go into it with lots of depth and detail. You can tell the time and work they put into the episodes.

    Been listening awhile…
There are great some stories and interesting things added in throughout each podcasts. Stories I know well have facts added that are new to me. Colin has a great narrator voice which is easy to listen too. Courtney’s voice however starts to get distracting at times. She already has a baby voice which I can usually get past but if she’s been speaking a while you can literally hear that she hasn’t swallowed & has too much saliva in her mouth. It’s very distracting & the only reason I can’t give 5 stars.

    Factual and Sensitive Coverage
Really impressed with your Uvalde shooting coverage. It was respectful to the victims and facts. Thank you for doing it.

    Exceptional true crime podcast
I found MIA a couple of months ago and have been binging it religiously ever since. It’s obvious how much time, research, and passion Collin and Courtney put into creating this show. They cover fascinating cases (many famous ones, but also many obscure ones that deserve to be more widely known) and what I appreciate the most is how they put so much emphasis on humanizing the victims and survivors of violent crime. I think that some of the theatrical aspects were a bit over the top in the early episodes, but it’s clear that their editing and presentation have grown a lot over the years. Personally — though I know it might not appeal to everyone — I really love when they discuss the paranormal elements to certain cases, and that it’s handled with a lot of sensitivity. I’m not sure where the negative reviews about them only covering Texas cases are coming from, as they have hundreds of episodes spanning the entire country. (Texas also has a lot of high-profile cases that make for great fodder for a true crime podcast.) I also want to say something to the reviewers complaining incessantly about all of the ads in the show: I’m not sure if y’all know this, but ads are how podcasters and other content creators make money. And before you say that a podcast should be a passion project offered for free: do you have a any idea how much work it takes to make a quality podcast? All of the hours and days spent researching, writing, producing, and editing? Especially considering that most podcasters also have day jobs and other responsibilities? It is the height of entitlement to demand that content creators take no monetization for the labor of love that goes into making their product (and a podcast is a product) just so *you* don’t have to sit through ads, WHICH YOU CAN LITERALLY SKIP OVER. (The horror of taking 10 seconds to skip an ad! Oh, how terribly inconvenient!) If ads really bother you that much, you can join the Patreon and pay for the ad-free version. Otherwise, either don’t listen or find a way to deal with it like an adult, and stop devaluing the work of creators by demanding they work for free.

    Murder In America.
I absolutely love this podcast and would recommend it to anyone. It is true crime at its very best. I’m in my 60s and my girls in their 30s. We all look forward to Friday when new episodes are released. Even their husbands have become Murder In America fans. Keep up the fantastic work!

    Murder in Texas…I mean America
Do you ever venture outside of Texas for your stories? Narration is a bit blase. Maybe try some feeling versus just reading me a story you found in a Texas newspaper.

    Don’t miss out!
I’m very picky about my crime podcasts and MIA has passed the test with flying colors! There is no small talk at the beginning just straight to the point. Well thought out and so interesting!!

Good content, so left leaning it could “capsize”
Content is well researched and presented, however, it is very obvious of the political leanings. Yikes! It’s like if MSNBC did a true crime podcast.

    Awesome
Superb the stories the details, we the listeners get to hear the full stories. Every gory detail, even how officials continue to fail at protecting us, the people they took an oath to protect. I am very proud to be part of the MIA family

    All time favorite podcast!
This is the kind of crime podcasts most people look for. Full of details and information about the victims and their families. I enjoy how long they are as well!

    Binge Worthy!
I love this show! I listen to on my way to and from work. They really grab your attention.
  • chillzzzzz
    Informative, yet insensitive
While the contributors and creators definitely do their research and due diligence in delivering all the necessary information to paint a picture through a podcast, I find the atmosphere created is too theatrical, like almost conveying a movie script through a real world event in which people were affected mentally and physically.

As you know, Bob…As you can see, Bethany….
I stop mid-episode frequently due to the obsessive use of “As you know” or “As you can see”.

Music and sound effects kill the show
I have recently started listening and really enjoy the detail and thoroughness of these stories. I just think the Halloween type music and some of the sound effects are really just too much. The theme song is kind of ridiculous tbh and the cutting in and out of show with that music kills the importance that you’re trying to convey otherwise. Sounds very circus like and is a jolt from the quietness of the show. The sound effects haven’t bothered me too much because they’re not really loud and generally add to the theme of the show. However some are just ridiculous. Like the sound effect used when talking about how Andrea Yates was attempting suicide with a knife. We do not need a sound effect of what it would possibly sound like if you’re cutting your own throat. That was extremely unprofessional and bizarre. Yes you want to tell stories to us but we aren’t here for the over the top attempt at entertainment. It was beyond tacky. I’ll listen occasionally because I do like the story telling (when things are pronounced correctly, like cities, for example) but I don’t see this being in my weekly rotation due to the sounds and music.

    Great
Pretty new to the pod, found on Tik Tok, and it's really really well done. My pet peeve (weird as it is) is that Disneyland is the Happiest Place on Earth. Disney World is the most MAGICAL place on earth. I've heard you mis reference it a few times on a couple episodes now.

    Love the show
I got two stories for you guys look up Nathan brooks of bellaire oh he got Halloween canceled one year in Ohio and the murder of Brad McGarry

Should actually be called Murder in Texas.
I have been listening from the beginning and I love all the stories that have been told. My only thing is that they should really change the name of the podcast to Murder in Texas. Since this is always the state they focus on. No story's from a handful of states, which is what this podcast had in mind when it started. Love it still but would love to have them branch out again.
