Andre “aww, they made a pac man, cute” Carlisle provides the perfect combination of context, stats (especially in the form of passing network pictographs), and vibes in his analysis. Courtney “I am Le tired” provides insight from her strong dedication behind the scenes at work, and effortlessly provides memorable quotes that often are the title of the episode - while this means I have no clue what I’m in for, I know it will be good coming from this duo. Dad joke and sorry it’s so bad, why did the chicken cross the road? BAWKcause….

Love the hosts’ faith in, centering, and celebration of Black women in the game; their unequivocal support for queer and trans athletes; the simultaneous depth and accessibility to newbies of their game analyses; and Courtney’s infectious laughter. (I’ll never forget her description of the Gotham holey wall that somehow defied physics to save their NWSL championship.) Dad joke: Why wasn’t the nose on the soccer team? It didn’t get picked! I just want to thank y’all so much for your smart, thoughtful, and joyful commentary week after week. I burst into tears listening to your recent episode when you asserted your support for inclusion of trans people in sports. Even if it seems small or obvious to say out loud, right now it makes a difference to hear support being shared openly and proudly from anyone, and also specifically from sports media. This is my favorite podcast! I’ve been listening since the 2021 Olympics when I felt like the only person getting up in the middle of the night to watch the games. Courtney and Andre always have fresh takes and their eye on the big picture in the WoSo world. As someone who loves soccer, they have made me love the game even more and I’m always excited when a new episode drops. It doesn’t surprise me that with their podcast and other indie women’s sports media coverage taking off, we’re also seeing record attendance at games, although I suspect they may be counting Andre multiple times because he’s so tall. If you’re not already listening, just hit play/subscribe and I promise you’ll have a good time. Requisite Dad Joke — Why did the rooster go to KFC? A: To see a chicken strip SHE DRAGGED HER MOMMA IN THE NYTIMES!!!

Courtney and “Washington Heights” Andre have great chemistry and personality as they break down what’s going on in the women’s game. They bring much needed perspective and perceptiveness, and always make me laugh in the process. Also, did you hear the one about the three moles tunneling into the sugar factory? As they got closer the first mole in line said, “I smell sugar!” Then the second mole in the tunnel said, “I smell sugar too!” Then the one in the back said, “I just smell molasses.”

I could not sing higher praises to two of my faves!! Always so grateful for their insightful analysis, their thoughtful and open discussion on important issues others may shy away from, and the genuine love and excitement both Courtney and Andre have for the game. It really shows and is so contagious and so so appreciated. I always look forward to a new ep, and when we get a longer one it truly brings so much delight to my heart! Thank you for all of the work you both put into crafting such a necessary and ultra compelling podcast, and for highlighting players and stories that oftentimes get relegated to the sidelines (super undeservedly so!) I really found this podcast at a time when I needed it last summer and have been a devoted fan ever since. It made my love for and knowledge of the game grow, introduced me to so many incredible players and such insane global talent, and it also just makes keeping up with woso feel so much more relevant to my personal interests, so much more accesible and so much more fun! Far and away my fave soccer podcast.

I stumbled on this podcast in early 2023 when I was first starting to dip my toes into the WOSO universe, and I have been a loyal listener ever since. The in-depth tactical analysis, nuanced commentary, and meaningful discussions on how to make this global sport more inclusive, equitable, and representative for everyone keep me coming back for more with each new episode. Courtney and Andre have mastered a truly fantastic blend of insight, humor, education, and authenticity. I am grateful this podcast exists, and I will continue tuning in for as long as they plan to be on the mics. And now for a “Dad Joke” (I had to Google this because I my personal Dad Joke repertoire is sorely lacking 😜): “Have you read that book about anti-gravity? It’s impossible to put down!”

As someone who’s starting to watch the game more and more, Diaspora United is one of my go-to’s for women’s soccer. Courtney and Andre are so easy to listen to and also keep it real. It’s always a big “YESSS” when a new ep drops in the feed.

Diaspora United goes in depth about women’s soccer (with an emphasis on the USWNT and NWSL) in a way that the mainstream soccer media does not, telling the stories that you won’t hear about in said mainstream soccer media. In a media climate where there’s very little coverage of Black women in soccer in the mainstream, André and Courtney’s coverage is essential and will change the way you look at the game. Every soccer fan should add it to their rotation!

Courtney and Andre are the dynamic duo that the world of women's professional soccer needs! Their podcast is an absolute gem. Their fearless and candid approach to discussing both the strengths and weaknesses of the lgame is refreshing and insightful. It's evident that they possess a wealth of knowledge about players, teams, and strategies that truly enriches the listening experience. I always look forward to tuning in and learning from their expertise, as well as their humor! Keep up the fantastic work, Courtney and Andre! Stick to what you know. If you wander outside that, educate yourself before you make ignorant and slanderous comments. It makes one question the rest of your “expertise”. Disappointing.

…but nah. it’s nice that they’re typically up front about their own bias - which is more than you can about many covering this sport. doesn’t change that their own bias impacts their evaluation of the players, teams and managers they speak about.

As soon as each episode drops, I do a happy dance and press play as fast as possible. I enjoy Courtney and Andre so much...they are Serious football podcasters while bringing humor, realness, and fun to the sport. Beautiful voices too. What a duo! I’m so grateful I found the pod right before the World Cup and have loved listening to y’all since! I’m doing a presentation in a college course on if the NWSL draft should exist (it shouldn’t) and I was reading a Gaming Society article that talks about doing a signing day instead and I said out-loud “is this André” and scrolled up to find André had in fact written it! Amazing analysis. Wonderful coverage of the game around the globe. Seeing this in my notifications just makes me smile because Andre and Courtney share their love of the game in a fun, open way - I learn something every episode. I can’t wait to listen. As a newbie fan of women's football (working hard to call it football and not soccer 😂) I have learned so much. If you’re not listening to to Diaspora United you’re not getting a holistic picture of the women’s game. Compelling, detailed, and for those of us who have thoughts about players getting 500 minutes in NWSL it’s satisfying to hear others who love the game like me. I don’t have a dad joke because I’m too busy managing a cinnamon roll shop and I don’t have the time to come up with them. I will tell you one trick of the trade: I play ‘80s R&B music to get people to come in to work at 4 a.m. Do you know why? Because Anita Baker. I know you wanted something better but… I’m giving you the best that I got!

Last week I was catching up on World Cup podcasts after recovering from time zones cuase the HASHTAG GO TO GAMES campaign had me in New Zealand seeing Japan ball out. Great wrap up episodes! The thing that really stuck with me was that Coach Tazuni really would have given Ashley Sanchez minutes. She really would have. She would have let them all ball out.

Love this show! I laughed out loud at the joke about leaving Vladko on the tarmac like losing NBA coaches!! A cross-over show with the ‘After the Whistle’ would be amazing - any chance of that??
