    Great pod/recommendation.
Great pod been listing for years, listened to some seasons more than once. They should do a series on the divers at deer island Boston, I’m actually suprised they haven’t yet.

    Well made
I really enjoy this podcast. I recently found it and have been listening to a couple of episodes every day. I have now listened to almost all of them. The editing on these is really good! The sound effects, the volume differences…. There can be little things that bother me when they are done poorly. The editing on these are really really good! These are well made! Both narrators are good too, the stories are written well. However, the editing and sound is what gets it a full 5 stars from me.

    Extremely immersive
I started listening to this podcast a few weeks ago. I have listened to 22 seasons so far and I am hooked. It’s like TV for your mind. It’s extremely well written. I highly recommend it!

    I love the historical episodes.
My really drawn into the series’ they have for the more historical stories. The Donner Party, the USS Indianapolis. The narrator is awesome, really draws you in. I usually pick up a book about the subject after the listen to the podcast.

    Amazing
I absolutely love this podcast, it makes these stories seem real. I’m saddened by Indianapolis, infuriated by buried alive, and agrivated by Johnstown. It is amazing, and I’ll recommend it to anyone.

    Good Stories, Bad Telling
ATO does a great job of storytelling. However, the background music and absolutely over the top voices by both hosts is so cringe I can barely listen. It’s giving Acting 101 and it’s embarrassing.

I can’t stop listening to these wonderfully made, true stories. Highly recommend them!

    Addictive
I just can’t listen to anything else and I am not sure what I will do when I am caught up! Each series really stays with you and I find myself talking about it to anyone that will listen.

    Inspirational
Enjoy this podcast especially the series about the late John McCain. It’s hard to understand how someone would refer to him as a coward; he certainly wasn’t in my opinion. Thank-you.

Great job guys, keep em coming!

    Good but sounds are annoying
Please consider tweaking the sound effects. The length they run is REALLY annoying. It’s truly painful to listen while we’re also hearing the sounds of footsteps crunching along for what seems like 5 minutes! The effects run an atypically long time, that’s really annoying and it’s also just distracting. Depecol’s enunciation is off, too. Good stories but the sounds detract significantly.

    Engrossing!
The most dreaded task is made vibrantly exciting when listening to this podcast. The dramatic play is exciting, the realism and fact checking honest and thorough. This podcast is entirely wonderful-highly recommend.

    Top tier podcast
I don’t give 5 stars often (always room for improvement, right?), but this podcast is so well done. It’s the perfect combination of drama and information. My favorite seasons have been the Paradise Fire and the Mt Hood Disaster. I’ve enjoyed reading some of their sources afterward as well.

    Thank you!
I love your podcast! Thank you for all the amazing story telling. I really love how both of you tell the story. I always look forward to the next episode or season! Keep up the great work! And thanks again!

Thanks for recreating the most harrowing mountaineering tale of all time on your channel. I’d already seen the movies and read all three books multiple times, including listening to Krakauer’s own tortured reading of Into Thin Air. My one nitpick is about pronunciation: - Lohtse rhymes with BOAT-see - Lopsang rhymes with HOP-song - Khumbu rhymes with ZOOM-boo - Beidleman rhymes with IDLE-min - Watney rhymes with COT-knee Congrats on knowing that “cwm” is pronounced KOOM! Anyway, keep the good work.

    The best podcast ever
This is a great podcast. DO NOT change a thing. If I had to pick the best podcast out there it would be this one by a country mile. Just so well put together. I could say 1 million good things about this podcast, and not one bad thing. This is a easy 5 stars
  • cochablabla
Unbelievably true and engaging stories well told stories about survival.
Due to the type of Manual work I do, I listen to 10 hours of podcasts at 1.5 speed daily. Naturally I go through a lot and there is only so much news and commentary you can take before it gets repetitive. Then there is crime. Easy listens but what does listening to hours a day of stories about murder and sadness say about ones character? Is there not anything out there as engaging but less sadistic? In comes this show. Incredible stories of survival and endurance and many times historically significant and true to boot!!! Very well told in a style reminiscent of old radios novelas with character dialogue and great narrative. Scroll through seasons to see which peaks your interest. I think you will be entertained.

    !!Spectacular!!
I drive tractor on a farm every summer. I listen to a LOT of podcasts. I recently found this show and I could not stop listening. Even after work. In bed. The hosts’ voices are perfect. The storytelling is detailed and expressive and appropriately dramatic. There is zero side chit-chat. The sound effects! Done so perfectly you sink into the story completely. This is absolutely my favorite “channel” now. I have high standards of non fiction podcasts and I just can’t rave enough about this show!

    Faith in Humanity
I remember being glued to my television, watching these events unfold years ago. The media could never have explained the depths of this miracle. The podcast brought me to tears and led me to the feeling of triumph. Absolutely fantastic from beginning to end.

    Amazing podcast!!
You all do such an amazing job on setting up the story and making us feel like we are there. Keep at it. I tried to tell so many people about the stories, and what happened… then I hear a real life story, and I think “these guys should make a podcast about it” Just keep going it’s awesome!!!

    Do not change a thing
So well done. Amazing storytelling. All the effort and work to put the show together is obvious and worth it. The stories are incredible and I love talking about them to friends. I highly recommend.

    Incredible
Incredible high level production that makes you feel like you’re really in the stories they tell. I get so excited every time they come out with a new episode and can’t wait for more!

    Excellent!!!
I’ve listened to quite a few seasons and they are all excellent. Well researched, well written, well narrated, the sound effects really add to the story. The interviews after the stories are amazing. I’ve cried a few times listening to some of them. (USS Indianapolis was one, Thai cave rescue was another). Please keep up the wonderful work!

    Riveting Stories
Every episode is exciting, tense and presented very well. I especially like the last episode where we can be debriefed. It will include discussions from either the author, the actual person the story is about or perhaps a family member. I recommend this podcast and look forward to the next season!!

    Problem with this great show
Attention hosts: your show is great, but it’s the only one listing episodes with oldest at the top, making it difficult to retrieve the most recent episodes. Please see other Apple Podcasts for reference - it would be so helpful if you could reverse the list. I’d definitely give it a 5-star otherwise. Thanks!

    Class Assignment Review
Episode 3 | Thai Cave Rescue | Risk ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ This is episode 3 of the 6-part series, which entails the incredible survival story of 12 boys and their soccer coach who, in 2018, after exploring a cave, were trapped due to rainfall. After struggling to look for one I thought was interesting, I found this podcast through a TikTok review. I listened to a random episode, and I instantly knew this one would allure me greatly. The combination of the narration, sound effects, music choices, and detail helps this podcast feel like I’m watching a documentary. This story, in particular, is one I had heard before but never got to do enough research into, so I was excited when I saw that the podcast’s first series was this one in particular. In the episode “Risk,” the main divers, Rick Stanton and his diving buddy, John Volanthen, and the Thai Navy Seal attempt to dive into the cave to keep going through the chambers to find the boys and their coach. It has been a little over a week, and the students are finally found. But this is only the beginning; the team hadn’t necessarily come up with a rescue plan yet as they “weren’t even supposed to find them,” and they had been in the cave to lay the lines to make it easier to get through. The boys are starving but calm, brave, and grateful for the diver’s arrival. The divers then have to leave, and they and the rest of the rescuers have to come up with a plan on how they’ll be able to rescue the students. The cave is harrowing and very easy to get lost, so they’re unsure if diving them out would be a good plan, but it involves too much risk. They talk about different ideas, like waiting for the rainy season to end so that the water levels get lower, but that would take too long, and oxygen levels are getting low already. Another plan was to attempt to drill the cave from above, but the jagged rocks would make that idea impossible. So, they only have one option: to dive them out through the main entrance, which isn’t a zero-risk option as the Thai government had urged. They continue with this plan and consider how to make it easier for them and the boys. Finally, they decide to sedate them to keep them calm and prevent panic on the treacherous journey through the flooded cave. Before they begin, they give the boys a chance to send their loved ones letters, letting them know they’re okay.

    Overdone.
The podcast is fantastic but I cannot stand the obnoxious music they play behind her voice the entire time. So unnecessary.

I love this show so dang much.
This show has inspired me to only day hopefully become a hot shot firefighter, that season is the best and is gut-wrenching, sad, and beautiful all at once. I really really love this show and would like to do a co-op with you on my show, the Huntley Hosts Podcast! Take care. First rate podcast! 100/10 recommend. Incredible show.

    Book titles spoil story ending
There have been several mentions of the books certain stories are based upon and many of the titles completely spoil the outcome. This greatly reduces the immersion and suspense imo. For example, a series is about a couple adrift in the ocean, after the first episode the book is mentioned in the credits with the title “130 Days at Sea” written by both survivors etc etc. Well, that answered the two big questions so instead of going along with them on their unknown perilous journey, the time spent and their ending is now known. Kind of a bummer.

    Amazing Podcast!!!

    One of my FAVS
All of these podcasts are well written and exciting to hear. The hosts do a great job making you feel like you’re right there with the folks fighting the odds. Keep up the outstanding work!!

The podcast that got my $$
This was the one. I was hooked and wanted to hear the end, marketing this way be damned. Even having grown up in the age of non-on-demand cable and without DVR capability. I would love if the narration could feel a bit less scripted at times, but they’re still good stories. Ada Blackjack, The Donner Party, and Apollo 13 are some of my favorites but they’re honestly all good. It’s worth the subscription. I’ve come to learn that even if I think I’m not particularly interested in a topic, I am.

    Donner party
Dinner Party. I started with the Donner party episodes. I don’t normally leave a review however I enjoyed the episodes of Donner party so much I am now starting to enjoy all the seasons. Great narration and you can tell that they really did a excellent job on the telling the truth of what took place.

Great stories, but I’ve heard them
You have great story telling, keeping me hooked most of the time. I recommend stories like trapped on mount hood, rock climbers abducted, or lost in the rainforest. Although some of the stories like hurricane Katrina, and the doner party are just history. There are so many other stories based off of both those stories. So they are very boring.
  • MarioColumbus
    Excellent quality
This is an excellent production - educational, thrilling, and suspenseful. It must have taken a ton of research, talent, and effort to bring this together. Kudos!

I was referred to this program by my son…my what an intense and well-rounded podcast! I’m very much like others who at the end of the series was sad that it went by so quickly!! Thank you for all your efforts to make this successful and much gratitude to the hero’s who have gone way beyond the call of duty, what an inspiration!! There is hope for humanity as the first season clearly illustrates if we would lay aside our prejudices and work together!!!!!!! Blessings

    Amazing stories/Needless language
Awesome stories for sure but it’s dumb when they ad lib cuss words, sometimes explicit language, and names of deity. I understand when they are quoting but when it is needlessly added in?! Wish they would attempt to clean it up a little to make it more suitable for more audiences
  • Angelgirl79
    Love!
I recently found this show and absolutely binged The Thai cave rescue episodes. I was captivated from the start to finish, and I’m so sad it’s over. I felt like the story was very well told and easy to follow. I cannot wait to listen to the next season!

    STOP Virtue Signaling
Such a shame. Loved this podcast, but recently I’ve just heard too much political messaging. Humanity has forever been in a cycle of conquering each other. Native Americans included. It’s called history. Move on. The Donner Party was a story of survival, yet within the first 5 minutes you’ve decided to paint the picture that somehow the tragedy was somehow linked to the desire to displace Indians. The belief in Manifest Destiny became a founding principle in the growth of America. Quit the virtue signaling.
