Legend0fJojoNot fools goldThe podcast is gold it has help me stay motivated to climb. It is interesting helps me cut down my screen time and on long trips. Alex is such a good host he sounds like he is talking to friends
-
PrimeNumbersOnlyGold!Thoughtful and relatable convos mixed with fresh perspectives and deep knowledge of the content. Alex is climbing’s gold and the team clearly put in tons of work to curate and elevate each story. One of two pods that I don’t mind listening to the ads.

Shannon-mSeems like Jon Krakauer would make a really good guest3 year climber, longtime listener, and big fan. I started reading Into Thin Air the other day, and realized that Krakauer was a pretty impressive climber as well as a talented storyteller. I don’t even have an idea what you might talk about, just that it would probably be good. Even if you don’t, thanks for the show!
-
sissywood69Climbing LingoNot a climber but love the stories and heartfelt experiences- just wish that some of the climbing terminology could be explained as the stories are unfolding i.e. pitch numbers, sending it, projecting etc
-
Joey DoolinGreat podcastI look forward to listening to this show every time I commute. Haven’t listened to an episode yet that wasn’t entertaining and informative. Thank you for taking away the monotony of some of the duller moments in life and resparking my interest in climbing.
-
ttcbjAmazing, even if you are not a climberI am not a climber. I am aware Alex Honold was famous, but other than that not especially interested in climbing. But this podcast features great storytelling. It’s thoughtful, and often funny. It reminds me of This American Life or something. It’s just enjoyable to be wrapped up in these episodes for a bit. I’m often sad they are over.
-
ImraanIsmailFantastic Storytelling. Need more episodes!I was expecting great climbing knowledge and insight, but I’ve been very impressed by the storytelling, the editing and the insightful questions and conversations. Even journalistic or editorial would be a good way to describe it. I can’t get enough. Can we get another season soon, please? What sponsor do I need to talk to in order to make this happen.

Brandon SlaghtSolid contentFirst podcast that ever drew me in

SephorafanAnna Pfaff⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Love the episode with Anna Pfaff! Alex asks great questions & Anna’s story is super inspiring.“Our best is always changing”.

Riolady22Great PocastDope Lake what a great story. Good description of the times and people’s mind set in the late ‘70’s. I learned of the story many years ago when my husband told me about it as he was flying a helicopter for the NPS and was involved with the clean up and salvage operations Very well done, thanx
-
reluctantteenstepdadDope Lake! What an incredible story and great journalism on the Dope Lake series! Congrats!
-
LeslieSageFavorite climbing podcastI thoroughly enjoy Honnold’s infectious and inclusive enthusiasm for climbing. My favorite episodes are about the history of climbing, like the battle over sport climbing in the US or the unique ethos of British trad. It has great production/editing, too. I think any climber (or any curious person) would enjoy the show.
-
lemoneekCowardsI dare you to curl. You guys are just not that good at making jokes about another sport. 10\2022 can you please arrange your podcasts so the most recent show first?
-
amwyoAlex and Will Gadd out of the parkAs good a listen as there is. Alex and Will talking personally and intelligently about risks. Should be mandatory listening before a journalist can use word “thrill-seeker” about climbing or paragliding,

WWCJDReally enjoy this podcast! As a non-climber but fan of climbers in general and Alex in particular, I really enjoy this podcast. I thought season 3 was absolutely fascinating in the deep dive about risk. The range of guests is pretty fantastic. I give it 4 stars because the sound levels on various guests can be all over the pace (some impossible to hear, some too loud) and sometimes I have to strain to hear Fitz’s narration as he rushes or swallows the end of sentences. But I’m a huge fan regardless. Thanks for helping me pass some long car rides in complete absorption…and the hope that in my next life I come back as a climber. :)
-
sloans75Fix the MusicLove Alexs lighthearted tone and the different guests but dear god the musical transition quips are awful, the harsh piano bit after an ad stabs me in the heart and ears. Other than that love this stuff, as a new climber I’ve learned a lot
-
highcierraSuper InterestingAlex and Fitz bring a fresh and interesting perspective on climbing—tying in history, psychology, science and personal experiences. The latest season on risk has been especially enlightening. I’d love to hear a perspective about a near death survivor and their opinion on risk…. (I haven’t finished the season so maybe you have an episode on it already). Well done young lads!
-
matt1075MediocreUnfortunately the podcast is pretty mediocre. Too much dubbed over narration. I couldn’t even make it through 15 minutes. It definitely has potential as this sport has a lot of good topics and folks to talk about. The format just needs to be done alittle more professionally.
-
itmannLove itGreat content and well produced
-
GobblediguujAwesome show but just chill with the sound editingLove Alex and the overall content of the podcast but honestly just stop with the editing. The tape click noise and unnecessary cuts to the music is just so annoying and does not add anything.
-
kdjkdkdkdkSo wokeThe douchiest podcast I’ve ever listened to
-
giopilli1Great show ruined by too many commercialsNo by now I will not buy a whoop or athletic greens and honestly getting hammered on commercials every 5 minutes of the podcast does ruin the quality and the fun of it….I understand the need to monetize it but the number of commercials is extreme in relation to the duration
-
Treegroee2003GoldI enjoy hearing Alex share his experiences and he seems to be a fan of the people he is interviewing. Fitz is a good counter balance to Alex and adds color. Great show! I would like to hear about climbs that are awesome or GOLD. THANK YOU FOR COMING BACK! Another way to think of Gold is Awesome climbs! The awesome characters who have done it! Alex is a fantastic ambassador to share their stories with us, the fans!
-
CWO GroupieGreat bones but over producedThink the dramatic NPResque format does not fit with Alex’s interview style and distracts from the story telling and interviews. All of the narration and background info interruptions are more distracting than helpful and makes episodes feel very piecey and disjointed. Came here for an alex honold podcast not for interludes and dramatic nonsense - less polish more Alex! Plz

Cristian MedellinFor a Non-Climber but an enthusiast of Climbing, this feeds my curiosityI am a non-climber due to other pursuits being stronger than my curiosity of climbing but climbing has always catched my eue from looking a man in a magazine up in the air due to their own force of nature to climb the wall. This feeds me and my adrenaline, it gives me the knowledge or the imagery that I wish I had in person but one day will, Alex keep on doing what you're doing, climbing needs to be shown through out the world and hopefully inspire the next big climber or just the average joe who doesnt feel like they cut out in regular sports. This is our history books.
-
cvavrina1Big difference btw seasonsSeason 1 was so entertaining and educational! Season 2 has been the opposite. Bring back legendary tales and important historical events in the world of climbing! I thought that was supposed to be what the show was about: stories told around the campfire kind of thing.
-
1flipper1MehGuests are good but Alex seems pretty shallow.
-
JenTeamFinallyFinally, a podcast that is beyond talking about the rules of climbing or the host’s vast network of climbing buddies. “Ya know?” I love the broad range of topics and diverse guests on Climbing Gold. Keep it up 👏🏼

Annoyed111111190Sound Mixing Needs WorkImpossible to find a consistent sound level for the radio. Every person on the show is mixed at a vastly different level. One person is so quiet you can’t hear them, the next is essentially yelling.

in2troutMy first Podcast.I have never listened to a podcast in my life. I was stuck at work on a Saturday and just needed something different when this popped up on my Spotify. I have followed Alex for the last 4 years but this is epic. I have listened to all the episodes in two day. I climb but don’t consider myself a climber. My son on the other hand is a crusher. Just before if found this podcast he made the choice to stop playing hockey (he is a goalie) and go full into competitive climbing. It’s so cool to know more about the sport, the background and where the sport may be headed. I know Alex said this may end after the olympics but I really hope you guys keep it up.

vma2020Olympic Games on TV@alex & Co - you guys could have signed in for YouTube TV and watch the Olympic Games comfortable live and/or recorded. For the next Olympic’s ask you audience and/or friends bc u guys sound like my grandpa 👴 😂✌️but you are producing a podcast …
-
WesleySeaFantasticContent and production value are top notch, perfect level of detail on each topic. Great interviews and very polished final product

Brady K :)Love it!I’m stoked on the new season of Climbing Gold, I’m always excited to see the next episode drop :)
-
GluvsJavaDoing JusticeFitz and Alex, you guys are starting at the right place at the right time. I so very much appreciate your articulation and storytelling something I hold close to my heart for more than 27 years. I am excited to see how season to unfolds.

Josh JanesI’m not a huge fan, but I can see why it’s popular…It’s “produced” with music riffs, sound effects, tag-teaming hosts… And everybody loves Alex Honnold, right? But the show is watered-down. I know that is, in part, by design in order to target larger, less “core” climbing audiences, but every episode leaves me wishing they’d go just a little bit deeper. This is further complicated by the fact that I just have a hard time listening to Honnold who has what comes across as a very childlike, or black-and-white view of climbing, the issues that face climbers, and the world in general. Don’t get me wrong: I have utter respect for his climbing achievements, his lifestyle, and his dedication to his nonprofit, but in terms of his public personality I find him an entertaining novelty more than a podcast host. It just feels like this whole thing is an attempt to capitalize on fame rather than a passion project. This is reinforced by the number of repetitive Honnold-narrated ads you have to fast forward through… no thanks! …but the star power does draw some impressive guests which is fantastic, and at least Honnold knows what he’s talking about. Cahill serves more as the “bridge”, often explaining things in layperson’s terms, but his delivery is also a bit watered-down. Give your audience more credit (even the non-climbers). Go deeper, invite them to think more process what they’re listening to… No need to spoon feed us.

LancelotNYI love the spirited stories!I’m not a climber and I am hooked to every story in this podcast. The stories about exploration, struggles and triumphs are so powerful it can reach across race, gender and generation. Keep up the great work!
-
maverick de greatLove it! 😁🧗🏻I have listened to all of the episodes so far and i love it but the reason i am only giving it 4 stars id because some weeks they only put out a bonus episode that is like 10 minutes long but it is not that big of a deal and i really like to listen to this while i am climbing so please continue making episodes! P.s. it is really funny
-
RobvorkAmazing storiesLoving connecting with the history of climbing. All these interesting people!
-
Misha_rakosnicekGreat show, but!Just heard the first three episodes, loving it, and excited to hear the rest! Honestly, though, it’s (so far) desperately lacking in critical and diversity perspectives: the climbers appropriation of native American spiritual sites, which makes the history of climbing quite complicated; the predominant whiteness and maleness of the sport that is reproduced here by the choice of guests (though the interview with Joanne was super interesting!); not even speaking of adaptive climbing; the first three episodes also present “turning points” in climbing, all from the US, yet the show hosts claim that the Europeans had been far, far ahead of the US. I guess this is all to say that while I highly respect the hosts amd enjoy the show, considering this is 2021, I wish the producers were a bit more reflexive.
-
Alias LeesyPerfect podcastThere’s something about hearing people talk about things they love - the enthusiasm, history, humor, and realism that comes through each interview is amazing. I totally get lost in the conversations and look forward to every new episode! They have made long road trips go by faster and I reach my destination raving about the new things I’ve learned 😂
-
Laura_JennineIs it Friday yet?I look forward to this podcast each week. It drops just in time to have something interesting, informative, and fun to listen to as you’re heading out for the weekend. I appreciate the multiple perspectives and issues that are addressed. Honnold and Cahall keep the conversation moving along with humor and intelligent insight.
-
gphmilesClimber’s determinationVery informative and enjoyable.
-
gwaissentertaining, funny thrillingClimbing Gold is storytelling that balances thrilling adventure, humor, history and insight into the world of climbing. I truly appreciate hearing from the diverse background of guests that add their stories to the podcast. It’s great to hear about the people from the golden age of climbing to the contemporary figures who make up this community of climbers. Also, listening to Alex Honnold’s commentary is priceless. He is no nonsense and hysterically funny. Thumbs up.
-
J10205057Honest reportingAlex and Fitz do a great job of keeping it real. Their candor helps being the stories to life and makes them personal for the listeners. Both also do a good job of providing a variety of climbing history and adventures while also looking at pertinent social issues.
-
LastOneIn-FirstOneOutFun and interestingThe hosts do a good job at interviewing guest as well as talking to each other to move along the narrative. Interesting stories so far.

kathyhikerLove the podcast!I am enjoying listening to your podcast and the interview with Lynn Hill was great! I began climbing in college 1977, I attended a rock climbing class and at the end of the season of climbing, I and another woman were the only two women that completed class! Of course, at that time of climbing we had EB shoes and gold line rope! It was great fun going to Joshua tree to climb and just being outdoors! We graduated college and I went on the being a hiking /ski bum in Jackson Hole and sadly Gretchen and I lost contact. Listening to the podcast has brought back wonderful memories!
-
N@alie HTell all your friends to listen!I listen to a lot of podcasts while I work. As a climber of 20 years I was so so so excited to come upon Climbing Gold! Each episode has been like a mini history lesson combined with insight and personal perspective. I’ve told pretty much every climbing friend I have to listen to the podcast! As I listen to each episode I pause and verbal diarrhea to my climbing coworkers about what I just heard. Listening to John Gill and Lynn Hill and Sharma makes me remember just how much I love this lifestyle, even as we adjust to climbing’s growth and popularity. Keep up the good work!!!
-
Marks_crxObsess!Every episode is so well edited and thought out and laid out and I feel like I am sitting down and watching an episode not just listening to another stale podcast. I love every minute of this podcast and cannot wait for the next episode to come out each week!
-
IdahoSlammerI approve of this podcastAs a seasoned rope climber and abseil daredevil, I can relate to the stories on this podcast. I have always used, “No Bivy’s,” as my mantra, and that’s exactly what I do with this podcast. Each week when the new episode comes out, I go back to episode #1 and listen to each one all the way up until the new one. I guess you could say I “free-solo” each old episode and then on-site the new one. You might see me “chalking up” during the commercials but that’s it. As a hard-core extreme athlete, and due to all of the interviews, photo shoots, and meet-and-greets with fans, it’s hard to find time to listen to stuff like this, but when I do have a few extra moments in the green room while my girlfriend dresses my blisters from extreme high-ball abseiling, I listen to Fitz and Alex. All jokes aside, this podcast is amazing! Nice work dudes! Always stoked when I see there’s a new episode to on-site. Can’t wait for more!!
