    The emotional side of FI
When you’re looking to go deeper than just the spreadsheets, this podcast is for you. And it’s the only one I’ve found that’s been really helpful for me.

    Good FI listen
Nice combo of mechanics/financials of Financial independence along with the way of life considerations/choices that occur pre and post FI. Thanks!

    Very enjoyable and helpful!
Two Sides of FI is easy to listen to while still being educational and informative. The friendship between the two hosts is great! Thanks for letting us listen in!

    Great show
Really like the show. Good, specific content. Strong life context that allows a listener to easily apply to his own fact pattern. And I enjoy the banter between the two friends.

Real life education, financially and emotionally around FI!

    Great Podcast
I listen to a lot of podcasts and have listened to every podcast from this channel. Easily the most thought provoking one in this genre. Keep it up!

    Life changing show
Excellent podcast. Casual and conversational format is very accessible and easy to understand. Phenomenal graphics and thumbnails if you follow on YouTube. I love how most of the focus is on mentally and emotionally preparing for FI over mathematically sharpening our spreadsheet skills.

Intimate, useful podcast for Henry & Fire folks
I have been watching them on YT for over a year. They cover the gamut of all the key areas related to FI. Eric is a great communicator and Jason is honest about his takes. I love the amount of work Eric does for the show. Love his personas episode that I have saved for future. Overall two great buddies sharing their journey and wealth of knowledge. Huge benefit to those going through Fire, especially Henry’s.

Come for the Fire, Stay for the friendship
I’ve been following this channel from their early episodes, when I was also transitioning into early retirement. At that time my main concern was whether retirement was possible financially. What keeps me here is the real talk among good friends and family.

    Relatable and real
We’re preparing to retire early and this has been a relatable roadmap for us. It’s been fun seeing it all unfold in real-time. Honest, candid and good balance of personal experiences, and actionable information. It’s helped us to plan, imagine, and think about our post-FI life through a different lens. Thank you Eric and Jason for sharing your experiences!

    Never miss!!
I love listening to this podcast as I am on my way to FI. It helps me think of all the things I might miss if I don’t watch out.
  • XYZ9007
    So annoying
These conversations are so self serving. These smart people spend hours looking at their portfolio, doing calculations, and working through different financial modeling; knowing all too well they will never run out of money!! I would rather spend my time doing some part time work; adding my knowledge/experience to the world and training young generations.
  • Headed toward FI
    Great program
I love the program and catching it when I have a chance. It is a great discussion and puts a more humanistic side to the concerns it isn’t just about getting to your number but the concerns of what that means, what if there is a down turn, should I work one more year, etc…. If you are headed this direction it is a great pod to listen to.

    Not Just For FIRE
These guys discuss general aspects of retirement as well as FIRE. They do a nice job of covering the softer non $ issues as well. Give them a listen.

    High emotional IQ podcast
I listened to the end of the last podcast. I really appreciate the podcast for the rich content around how you adjust the concept of FI. I’m on the same journey myself. This really helps you think about all the non financial aspects of retiring and provides good perspective that others are also going through. Keep up the great work and stay positive. It’s your life and don’t let someone else dictate what you want.

    Best in the business
This is the best FIRE podcast out there. Great thoughts and conversations to reflect on each week. Thanks for the contribution to the community!

    Great info! A must have!
Jason & Eric are my favorite! I love the thoughtful integration of tactical and emotional planning for FIRE. If you are considering retiring early, or interested in tax strategy, draw down planning or just a great chat between friends, you’ll enjoy spending time with Jason & Eric! 🎉

Still enjoying this podcast after more than a year.
This has long felt like a conversation I wish my friends and I were having. I think the recent emphasis on ‘what to retire to’ is as important as all the content on planning that got me interested in the first place. If you are new to this podcast, it is worth checking the YouTube channel as well, for the design aesthetics if nothing else. Wishing Eric and Laura well as they enter retirement/next endeavor. As an academic, I am very curious to hear how Laura’s transition goes. (Although this is very personal and perhaps won’t be shared.) I’ve seen academics struggle or not with retiring. Earlier semi-retirement seems better. Later retirees (mid-70s and beyond) seem to completely lose purpose or to have waited until health pushed them out. The job can become what people define themselves as, perhaps more so than the typical career.

    Thank you!
Love the balance of technical and behavioral aspects of FI. Great show!

Amazing and Thoughtful Viewpoints on the Path to Retirement and Beyond
Eric and Jason have been fun to watch throughout their journey as recent retirees. Eric just crossed that threshold in 2025, so I’m looking forward to seeing how he adjusts. The conversations they have with each other are thoughtful and frank, and they mirror closely the types of conversations my husband and I have. It’s so comforting to know that others are experiencing the same giddy excitement, mild concern and doubt that we are. It’s always a great listen. They don’t have many guests, but when they do it’s always a valuable discussion. Thanks for letting us listen in on your thoughts!

    Insightful show
I really enjoy the candid conversation on not only FI, but also the various stages along the way

    Great FI Conversations
Have watched from the beginning and really enjoy every conversation. Perfect mix of the technical approach to FI balanced with the practical real-world challenges/opportunities that come with choosing this path. Thank you both.

Such a great show with so much good information!! Love it. Keep up the great work!

A window into the life of FIRE
I’m getting ready to FIRE soon. There are many podcasts that focus on describing what FIRE is and why it’s a lifestyle worth pursuing. This is the best one detailing the mechanics and day in day out methods of HOW to do it (eg, Jason on portfolio, SWR, SORR, budgeting, lifestyle, etc.) and how to prepare to do it (eg, Eric on portfolio, investing, work, etc.). They even sprinkle in perspectives from their spouses from time to time, as well as their own personal accounts of real concerns. I don’t re-listen to episodes from any other podcast.

    Good luck
It will be a challenge, but you will be fine.

So helpful on my FI journey
Excellent, down to earth content. Love the interviews with people at various stages along the path of FIRE.

First Podcast To Tackle Life After Early Retirement
This podcast delivers a uniquely introspective look into day-to-day life in early retirement. I admire how honest Jason is willing to be regarding the struggles encompassed within early retirement. A true gem for the FIRE community! Love the show!

    The BEST podcast on FI
I have read about FI and investing for decades. I still learn so much from Jason and Eric. Their honest and open discussions, intelligence, and knowledge base really help to clarify my own thoughts and ideas. They are down to earth and honestly you can tell they’re just great guys. Thanks for sharing this small part of your lives with the rest of us!
  • TS West Coast
    Feelings over mechanics
There are lots of FIRE and retirement podcasts/videos about the mechanics. This is the best one about the feelings. Other podcasts try to cover feelings, but often miss the mark. The other podcasts/videos are one person monologuing or an unskilled interviewer with a guest. Eric and Jason have the special sauce of being lifelong friends. This allows them to open up during the podcast in a way the others fail to match.
  • galezona
    Excellent
This is the first podcast that I’ve gone back and listened to every episode from start to finish. As someone who is a few steps behind Eric on the FI path (congratulations!), it’s been super helpful to hear your perspectives from a few steps ahead. I appreciate the discussion of the numbers, but just as much the discussion of the non-financial elements of FIRE. Thank you both for your contributions and the content you have shared with the rest of us!

    Great show
One of my favorite podcasts in the FIRE space.

Excellent and varied take on aspects of Financial Independence
The guys really do a great job of covering everything from withdrawal strategies to the emotional parts of early retirement. One of my favorite in depth FI podcasts.

    Best Fire Podcast
This is the best Fire podcast hands down. You guys have great conversations. Really enjoyed the Empty Nester episode.
  • RightYouAreKen1
    Thought provoking and informative
Really enjoy Eric and Jason’s different perspectives, thought processes, and experiences. A well produced and inspiring show either in video or podcast form. Keep it up guys!
  • ManOfTinFoil
    Love this Podcast
All of the episodes together have a narrative arc, as the hosts confront different aspects of FI in different ways over time. It’s awesome.
  • bophia21
    Love hearing both sides
Love hearing both sides of early retirement. It’s helping us think through thing as we prepare for our FIRE date.
  • MechHead67
    Excellent
One of the best podcasts for those pursuing or enjoying FI. Good content on numbers and choices, but the real differentiator are the psychological challenges of being different being addressed in an open, welcoming way. I happen to identify more closely with Jason’s experience and viewpoint, but I’m always interested to hear Eric’s perspective as a business owner (and prefer his taste in music). Criticism often comes from people who find FI a challenge to their own beliefs and the resulting cognitive dissonance. Best to pay no mind and continue doing what’s best for you!
  • jason is retired
    Well balanced
My favourite of all the financial podcasts because its not all about the formulas and numbers, they bring the emotional intelligence part too. The numbers are the easy part of retirement, its the physological aspects that are harder to work out and plan for.
  • MomWants2Retire
    So relevant and relatable
We listened to the first 13 episodes straight on a road trip up to Oregon. So many of the topics they cover are the same things we’ve questioned, worried around, thought about. So refreshing to hear the hosts share their perspective, experience on navigating these retirement topics. Love this podcast!
  • Matthhjjj
This might be the best FI podcast
I love this podcast. They are clear, open to changing their minds, and grappling with real issues beyond the basics. I wish this existed 20 years ago. This is bow my #1 recommendation for FI-curious folks.
  • Tjenna Skovde
    Close vested
Show would be much better if not so close vested with the details.
  • Jane1980727
    Love this podcast!
As an early retiree at 41 and a fellow podcaster (inside out money) I LOVE this podcast. It’s so great hearing from other people that are at a very similar point in life, and if you’re anywhere on a FI journey I think you’d find this very beneficial and also just enjoyable! Thanks Eric and Jason for putting out a high quality podcast and other products!
  • Financial Samurai
    Appreciate WIfe FIRE
I just listened to the episode about checking in one year after early retirement on July 22, 2024. It is refreshing to hear a man embrace his working wife, and how he will force her to work until she is 60, more than 10 years away to support his retirement lifestyle. Very few men I know have the courage to retire early and get their wives to support their families for years when the kids are at home. I think this situation should be explored more to enable more men to be stay at home dad’s without fear of judgment or ridicule. - Sam

    Great Podcast!
Love this podcast! Truly have learned so much and great to hear about someone in retirement and what they have learned about themselves after.
  • Kikolicious
    Love the post FI aspect
Guys i really appreciate the focus on the not so sexy topics of the whole FI journey especially the post. The dynamic you guys have is great because there are two sides of FI.
  • Neoteric5
Wonderful content on FI and retirement
I love how these guys share their experiences both approaching and following financial independence. I especially like when they discuss the emotional and developmental topics about retirement, beyond the pure numbers, which is covered ad nauseum elsewhere. Finally I appreciate how they include their spouses from time to time, since FIRE is typically not a solo endeavor. Keep up the great work!
  • Xcbhfsgjcdtubf
    Super helpful perspective and advice
As someone who is very close to my early retirement I’ve really appreciated the thoughtful conversations with both the hosts and their spouses about their experiences, fears and insights. There are a lot of Fire podcasts but this one is my new favorite. Thank you!
  • Pereraj
    Great FI instruction
I am 55 and forced to consider early retirement from the corporate world, and I have found this podcast to be an excellent source for late comers to the FIRE movement. I am planning to listen every single episode because I am finding great insights that respond to all of my questions.
  • HealthITGuy
    Excellent real life FI info
The guys are great covering real life examples and experiences on there 2 separate journeys to FI.
  • Jamie9400
    One of my favorites.
I know there are hundreds and hundreds of Financial podcasts, but I really enjoy this one. These two guys talk about real situations and answer real questions. Plus, I really appreciate their interests.
