Great content but sooo many ads
Each episode is probably only 15-20 minutes of real content with how many ads are crammed in. The content that is there is awesome. Very informative and well researched but I hate how short the episodes are relative to how many ads are in them.

They advertised a for profit treatment center?
Was enjoying the podcast until episode 5 ran an ad for a for-profit treatment center in Malibu? I thought it was part of the podcast. I like it but taking money from a place like that and pushing it on people trying to listen to a podcast is shockingly hypocritical.

    Need intro for commercials
I love the podcast; however, when going into a commercial, there is no sound, mention or notification that we’re going into the commercial. Consequently, commercials sound like they are part of the program at first, and sound a little bit odd, especially the commercial for Lenovo Pro. It seems that what you’re talking about in Trapped does not correlate with the latest Lenovo Pro commercial’s wording. 7/26/24

    Only one side
I agree with Lisa another reviewer who stated that you should discuss why the kids are sent to these facilities. At a certain point, after therapy at home and with continued dangerous behavior of teen’s parents feel helpless and have few alternatives. Easy to throw stones

    Gratitude
Thank you for shining your light on a dangerous and abusive industry. This happened to me in the 90s. When I got home, I started talking about it, but no one believed me. It became a joke at my expense with my family. They started calling it Camp Snoppy, and no idea why. I think it was easier to laugh about it instead of healing the wound and pain it left. I’ve pushed it so far down inside that I don’t remember a lot of the experience. So I’m doing the work now, it’s never too late to start. I feel so very seen and heard hearing about your experience, efforts and what you’re learning along the way. I hope law makers are paying attention and are willing to make permanent ethical and safety changes. I’m hopeful that other industries that treat children will review their processes and procedures. So grateful for you! 🩷

    Thank you from a survivor!
Thank you for exposing residential treatment schools and their practices! I attended the FL Chamberlain School from ‘03-05. Not nearly as bad as PCS or WASP programs but I definitely have trauma from those years and what I experienced. The aim may be to help children but even in the best of cases of these schools there’s still harmful things being done in the name of help. I don’t know how we fix the Troubled Teen Industry and these schools but something needs to be done now!

    Amazing!!
I love this podcast! My go-to for my treadmill walks.

    Interesting
I have a very hard time believing some of these stories. These kids leave out a ton of details that they have chosen to do so. I work at a facility like this. These kids are never strip searched, never made to stand for hours and we do not do injections unless they are completely out of control. 90% of these children are court ordered to complete these programs. You probably should discuss more about the why they’re there instead of glorifying the supposed abuse.

    TOO MANY ADS
I was really looking forward to listening to this podcast until I actually started it. There are too many ads, so much so that they make up the bulk of the episode!! The episodes don’t actually start until almost 3 MINUTES in. This is a very serious topic, do better.

Way too many iHeart podcast ads
It’s insane how many ads. I get you can fast forward, but such a waste of time and an annoyance that detracts from story. All of their podcasts are like this. Their advertisers should be upset everyone fast forwards and doesn’t even hear their ads because the amount is ridiculous. You’d think they’d want to stop getting such terrible reviews for this!

    Too many advertisements
    Please reduce ads

    Close to home
I was in a RTC in Utah for almost two years in the late 80s, including some time living off site in “foster” family homes. I still have occasional nightmares. I believe the place I was sent to was considered one of the more reputable ones, yet terrible things happened there, and it still blighted my life. When you spend those critical transitional years in a place that allows you to make no decisions, and allows no expressions of individuality, you come to feel helpless and worthless on a very deep level. Shut them down. Enough already.

Critical journalism exposing legal child abuse
This is some of the most important journalism needed today. The TTI, Troubled Teen Industry, is a multi billion industry that subjects children to horrific human rights abuses in the name of “therapy”. The profits are lucrative while the regulations and oversight are lacking. And yes there are ads but every podcast has ads and you can skip through them. Looking forward to future seasons and particularly the examination of other programs. The DeSisto School seriously needs to be included

Good content but WAY to many ads.
Interesting stories but the amount of ads made it hard to want to keep listening.
  • HopenHaven
    Very well done!
I worked in a Utah RTC for 4 years in the academic program. Many of these stories resignate with me and it's heartbreaking. I knew so little of the things that took place on the business side but this helps it all make sence of how things were done they way they were. It's sickening and wrong. Many of these things are STILL happening daily to kids.
  • fujifunk
    RIVETING!! WELL DONE, TEAM!!
I can't imagine what these kids went through, are STILL going through, and am so grateful for the brave ones who are committed to eradicating this cancer called "treatment". Bravo to all involved in this project!!

    Interesting
The stories of survivors are interesting and really eye opening. I would have liked to hear some stories from parents and how the family worked out the trauma after the child came home.
  • VTC95!
    It’s ok
I was hoping this would dive deeper into what was revealed in Paris Hiltons documentary. The information in the podcast is repeated over and over. Would have done better if each episode was just a new, deeper interview of victims. The ads are long and leave little room for deep dives into what happens in these “schools”. Each time an episode ends I’m thinking to myself “that’s it?” Nothing new is exposed and they don’t even do the victims justice in their interviews. Glad this subject is getting more traction though. Good attempt but not quite there.

Ads shouldn’t be our biggest complaint here
I thought it was pretty common knowledge that that Stanford prison experiment was bunk science. The fact that this podcast used it as a reference made me stop listening. Teen treatment seems to have enough verifiable facts of horror and mistreatment, why would you reference this outdated study? Which feels like a real injustice, because I found the survivors’ experiences eye opening and incredibly moving! But now I have to find all their scientific data sus. ☹️

Interesting content but too annoying to listen
Missed opportunity to spread the word re: the (grossly underreported) systematic, sanctioned abuse of children. Content is there but presentation falls short. Other than the first hand survivor accounts, not sure why they chose to include such lengthy interviews with annoying subjects who are long winded but never seem to get at the heart of the matter. Made it through almost three episodes, but the ad to content ratio made it intolerable.
  • Boo, bing!
Really enjoy, but jarring when it switches to adds.
I’d rate it higher, but the fact that there is no outro when going into an ad is really jarring and sometimes confusing. Please add at least outros to, and maybe welcome backs from, ads. It will make it easier to follow the story.

So far I love it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A new fresh topic that has been traumatizing youth for way to many years and still happens .. Just shows once again that society puts money and greed way above people and mental health .. such a shame ..

Only 10 minutes MAX of “actual” content
Repetitive content, MANY ads, one sided perspective, low quality journalism. It’s a one or two episode show at most. If you fast forward a lot you’ll find won’t miss much.
  • RoadTrip2012
    Ads for Extreme Religious Groups
Some of the ads in my area (CO) are for extreme religious organizations that support conversation therapy and child abuse.

5 ⭐️’s but the editing is poor
Great podcast. No complaints about the content. The editing, though! 👎🏼 Sentences are repeated, contradictions within an episode, poor flow, at times…. I am surprised this has not been reviewed by a professional editing company. I still say 5 stars because this is a well-done and interesting podcast.
  • hquantz
Not enough of the story plus Too many ads
The people who are interviewed don’t get to tell the full story. Way too many ads also.
  • Jenn434
    Good content, too many ads
Great content and exposing the TTI, a few too many long ads.
  • AK!1029
So many ads! Absolutely breaks immersion and story.
I’m very passionate about the issues with RTCs and was excited to listen to this podcast, but there are simply an unreasonable amount of ads. 3 at the start, some in the middle, some at the end, etc. for 45 minute long episodes? It’s honestly so annoying to be listening to very serious things and then suddenly have a loud voice shouting about little Caesars. At least you could do ads for companies and products related to the mission of the podcast instead of…pizza. But seriously, tone down on the ads. Feels like there’s more ads than content and I have better things to be doing with my time and energy than listening to ads.

    A good start
I’m very happy that Paris is bringing this to the public. Here’s hoping all those places will get shut down soon!
  • traveldan1234
    Frustrating to listen to
What an interesting topic. Would be wonderful to hear the full, nuanced and compelling stories of people who were trapped in treatment. Unfortunately, they never really get to that. The show is so busy trying to be academic that you don’t get to hear anyones full story. It’s admirable that Paris Hilton and her producers want to end these “schools”, but it’s hard to invest in the subject when we’re listening to the host spelling out facts more than just hearing peoples stories.
  • HeyNikki!
    Great show…only one problem
This stories from these former students are so interesting and important! I tell everyone about what I learned on each episode. And we are collectively shocked and horrified. Great podcast. My only issue is the constant and long ad breaks. I don’t mind ads but this is excessive. Would be 5 stars if there were less.
  • beckkamakesart
So many ads, but such important info
This podcast does a great job talking about all the problems with the troubled teen industry that desperately need to be talked about. My only complaint is there are SO many advertisements; it almost seems like more mins spent on ads than on actual content

    Truly interesting
Watched Paris in love & felt an amazing connection to you. This podcast is insightful and keep going strong ❤️
  • alexgraceburns
Excellent work on a truly tough subject
The show and the hosts do a fantastic job navigating these waters with such compassion and respect, while still giving us insight into what’s happening behind closed doors at these institutions. The first two episodes were really well done, I’m very intrigued about the rest of the season.

    Captivating
Such an amazing story and beautifully told. Really enjoy everything this podcast has to offer - definitely a much listen

    So informative!
I am loving the podcast so far. I really didn’t know a lot about the journey and I feel so informed by learning from both survivors, researchers and the host. So happy this podcast is raising awareness for such an important cause!

    Love this podcast
So well spoken and structured. The topic is so important to have knowledge on and the hosts do such a good job of sharing it. Super interesting. Great podcast.

    Love this podcast
I LOVE this podcast and am enraged this school is still open. So glad survivors have a chance to tell their stories in such a productive, interesting way. Bravo! Can’t wait for more episodes.
  • Meg Carreau
Love this podcast!! Keep it up!
But yes as others have mentioned the audio is a big issue. Concerning because I know how much work has gone into producing these episodes and bringing these stories forward. It’s probably pretty disheartening for the victims and their family’s trying to listen and then it just cuts out…eeek! Just a heads up. I’m sure you guys are all over it. Maybe it’s just an error on Apple podcasts.

    Not all are horrible
You just don’t send your child to 1 of these programs because they broke curfew 1 time. Let me also add that Not every program is horrible. It is up to the parents to investigate prior to putting their child in a program. Programs should be doing family therapy weekly on the phone and parents should be doing onsite therapy monthly. This would include being able to have a private conversation with your teen. This is not to say that Paris didn’t go to a crappy program

    Excellent storytelling with a purpose
I’ve listened to the first two episodes and am blown away by how detailed and cinematic the storytelling is… and Paris in her authentic voice is powerful. It’s obvious that she cares and is showcasing others experiences (along with her own) to hopefully end this dangerous industry. They are uncovering a dark part of treatment that most people would never know about… including most parents of kids who are forced to participate. The hosts are excellent and do a great job weaving stories together. I’m very impressed with the level of care given to the listener in how each episode is framed.

    Lots of ads and music…
Is it just me or is the majority of the podcast taken up with ads, dead space, and music? When talking, I really enjoy it, but feels like actual content is minimal.
  • gylkec12
    Well done and very insightful
After listening to the first two episodes alone, I was sobbing. My family went through something so similar. I only know my perspective and how traumatic is was to be told someone was coming to take my brother but if I told him, I would have to go too. I didn’t know I wouldn’t see him for months. After hearing the real truth through these 2 episodes, I immediately texted my brother. I told him I’m so sorry for what very likely happened to him and I’m here to listen if he wants to talk. I know this is the start of many conversations that will be had simply because of this podcast

    Trapped in Treatment
I enjoyed this podcast, it’s a subject I am truly interested in, but the sound cut out about half way in and didn’t come back until there was only about 20 minutes left so I feel like I missed out on half of the information given.
  • Pkpdeltabro
Great show but production is lacking
I love the show it’s a great topic and learning about this is amazing. But on both episodes the middle sections of the episodes just go blank. No sound or anything.
  • vipvic94
    Well structured, fascinating topic
This podcast is so well done, I love the investigative aspect to it as well as the sensitivity to material that could be triggering. Seems really respectful and informative, I had NO idea this is what those programs were like.

Please help kids still in Lifeline, Utah
I am so thankful for platforms like this, but please please please don’t shy away from focusing on programs still open and threatening survivors with litigation for speaking out.
