Another writer/thinker I really like and am largely simpatico with has a podcast, and they are NOT GOOD at the gig. Does Peter not know, has nobody told him, that when you invite a guest on a show as a host, you DON’T ENDLESSLY INTERRUPT. YOU LET THEM SPEAK. He does at times, but too often he comes off as a boorish rude a**hole. I still give 4 stars simply due to the intellectual value of the content, and I think it’s simply a matter of people working in a carft that requires a different skill set and understanding that simply having a conversation as one would not doing a show produced for public consumption. It’s a hard listen. I’m positive I could improve 90% of podcasters with similar flaws, it’s a matter of enlightenment and offering a few tweaks (I’m a film.TV director so I can’t help imagining how to fix performance….likely a flaw of my own. In any event, yeah. I doubt these are read by creators or someone they have read them for them, but maybe so. Meant 100% constructively.

Clearly he has some good points. DEI, gender ideology and critical race have created terrible policy and behaviors. Unfortunately he is so angry at what has happened to him and others that he is out for revenge. He would literally rather “burn it all down” than see a turn around in policies at universities. This is short sighted rage and is very unhelpful. It makes it hard to take his other ideas seriously. I am also furious about what has happened but his emotions are clouding his thinking. I hope he can find some peace without destroying institutions.

Peter used to be an interesting thinker who challenged me with his books on Atheism. At this point though he has prostrated himself to MAGA political movement to a level that is just pathetic to watch. Some people just get too drawn to power and become a “pick-me-girl” for the worst people, destroying any credibility they once had. I’ll make sure to delete any books I still own by him and move on to people with integrity.

The only thing separating the masses and philosophy is the entertainment factor. Peter tackles that perfectly. By making philosophy entertaining, he makes philosophy much more accessible to the general public.

I literally binge listened to every episode as soon as I learned about Peter’s podcast. I really appreciate how he asks his guests questions he genuinely wants to know in order to work through his own thoughts on each subject. All the conversations are interesting and compelling. I’ve enjoyed learning about street epistemology and hearing it done. My only constructive criticism would be for Peter to be mindful of asking guests multifarious questions, which makes it less likely they’ll fully answer each. Keep the episodes coming!

Too many episodes are unplayable and it’s annoying that the default is set to Oldest Episode first. Always having to adjust settings to find the new ones and when I do, they quite frequently won’t play and skip to the next one.

Sometimes insightful and entertaining - but then he has on a cartoon idiot like Dave Rubin who he hardly challenges on anything even though Rubin spouts 90% manipulate nonsense and you just can’t take the show very seriously after that.

Peter’s guests are always interesting and thoughtful. I think Peter does a great job interviewing them because he gets them to open up, he helps them explain their ideas, and he generally makes it fun. While I don’t always agree with him or his guests or like what they say, I always learn something… and sometimes they change my mind. Three cheers for diversity of ideas! Thank you Peter and Reid!

Big fan of Peter, brilliant guy. I enjoyed the episode with Jens. My one area of constructive criticism would be sometimes there’s some questions that are missed. It’s inevitable the more interviews you do the better you’ll get. The NPR series is the best because they’ve been gaslighting us about whats happened there..

…that episode with Carl Benjamin and Nina Power. You do a great disservice by having on Power as a Christian apologist. She is not equipped at all for the questions and discussion presented. Carl was spot on in his critiques (and I am a Christian). I would recommend Jay Dyer for the topics Nina and Carl covered and much more (academic cells, pop culture’s occult symbolism, wokeness and many other things you’re interested in). He would be a great guest for a one on one episode. Incredibly knowledgeable and would also make for an excellent discussion with Carl should you have Mr. Benjamin on again. I believe they know one another. Jay Dyer has for many years been on the leading edge of the same war as you, albeit on a different front. Love your show and you Mr. Boghossian.

Season 1 (“All things reconsidered”) was truly entertaining. Especially as a former NPR listener, it was nice to hear some incisive and detailed takedowns of NPR. The kazoo was so good! Bring that all back. Season 2 has just been lazy and formulaic. PB brings on a guest who he obviously agrees with, asks leading questions, constantly interrupts, and makes weird non-sequitur comments to guests (“do you think the trans activists dislike you because you’re just such a beautiful woman??”). I don’t even disagree with the contents of this show, but it gets boring after only a few minutes. PB is not a particularly strong interviewer, either. When PB plays third-party audio, it frequently cuts out and just plays silence on the podcast for 30 seconds at a time. It’s amazing that he hasn’t realized this yet, and makes me wonder whether he (or his producer) has ever listened to an episode of his own show. PB goes on and on about “epistemology” and constantly waxes philosophical as if this isn’t just a polemic, formulaic show where he interviews boring people that he fully agrees with. That’s not epistemology or philosophy, it is just lazy.

I could listen to this podcast all day. Sometimes I almost do. I love deep dives into complex subjects. I wanted to list some of my favorite episodes, but my list got too long. Thank you, thank you for bringing all the information presented to an adoring fan base!!

Peter has a wide range of guests on that discuss various aspects of our current cultural madness. Highly recommend!

Peter Boghossian is legitimately open minded, interesting and intelligent. Great guests, discussions and topics. His NPR series was perfection. Definitely worth a replay. Thanks!

As of May 2023, this critique is still valid and valuable. And I must say that even the NPR is the focus, the narratives presented and dissected are still very much in play.

I enjoyed season 1 more but still some interesting conversations in season 2.

This podcast IS the representation of the “other side” (what you call conservative). They don’t need to have a leftist commentator, because these people are giving the opposing views that NPR is neglecting to provide. NPR has already presented the leftist view. Duh.

We need way more of these episodes! There’s no shortage of content coming from NPR. I think this could be a very important podcast. There’s little to no critique of NPR because the air of intellect and moral superiority coming from them. I always feel like I’m being sold a bill of goods when I listen. I think NPR knows that people listen passively so they can throw in buzz words like extremist, far right, fascist, anti Semitic when talking about any subject and people driving in their car will just subconsciously associate those words with whatever story they’re propagating.

I really enjoy this podcast, and it mirrors what many sane people think about NPR. I hope they can right the ship.

I love this pod, one of my new favorites. NPR is off the rails and more folks need to be aware of the situation.

If you want to listen to your close minded uncle, this shows for you. They criticize NPR for “not having someone from the right to push back against the radical left that is NPR”. Great tell that you’re obviously conservative cheerleaders, considering you don’t have a “left” co-host to discuss with.

I don’t know who’s idea this was, but it is a stroke of genius. Fascinating to listen to these guys dismantle a formerly great news institution that went woke and needs to go broke.

I love Peter’s YouTube videos. Love the podcast as well, thank you for doing this and pushing difficult but important conversations forward. Keep going! Only took off one star because the kazoo transition music drives me nuts. Still love the podcast though.

Peter and Matt deserve an award for doing us a public service with this podcast. Critically thinking about controversial topics isn’t always easy but these guys seek out the truth—however uncomfortable—in an honest and well-meaning way. It’s so refreshing because they’re coming from a point of compassion when demonstrating that many widely-held beliefs, however well-intended, are simply untrue. Thanks guys!

I was a longtime NPR listener but it became noticeably stuck on maintaining Progressive narratives, to the point that I stopped listening over a year ago. I say this as a someone who voted Dem in every election, even midterms, for 20 years. The episode story NPR did on the dinosaur emoji was negligent. As a US woman on Twitter even I knew how women in the UK took on the dinosaur as their symbol after being dismissed as “dinosaurs” for advocating for female-only spaces. I hadn’t heard the NPR version until now, & it was so bad I couldn’t help but laugh.

Great show. I’ve watched it on YouTube but it’s nice to have it in podcast form, too.
