I’ve left the Mormon church but, damn it, I just can’t seem to leave the church alone. Whether you’re navigating leaving a high-demand religion too or simply find yourself fascinated by religion (and where it can go off the rails), pull up a camp chair. I share my post-Mormon perspective on the quirkiness of church culture and the compelling journey of faith deconstruction. I’ll be reading and reacting to crazy religion story submissions, doing long-form interviews and deep diving into church-related culture and current events. All with a lot of honesty, heart and humor- because that's what Girlscamp is all about.

    Hayley just gets it!!!
After feeling so alone in my journey of leaving the mormon church, this podcast brings so much understanding and validation that I haven’t felt before. Thank you Hayley, for bringing up the topics/ conversations that I was too afraid to discuss myself. Keep going! This podcast is amazing 🩷

    More Facilitating?!
I wish Hayley would let the guest do the majority of the talking. Otherwise, awesome content!

I’m enjoying the podcast. It’s great. I like hearing Hayley’s perspectives

    Truth matters
Listen to someone like Mike Winger instead. It matters how you deconstruct. Deconstructing from Mormonism is important, but where it leads you is just as important.

    Refreshing and eye opening
I started listening about a year ago and am really enjoying the new direction the show is going. I’m a cis-het guy from Utah, married with 2 kids and was raised Mormon but resigned the day one of my kids came out as trans. That alone has made me do a lot of self reflection and come to terms with the fact that everyone has their own unique perspective and identity. Just because I personally haven’t experienced something doesn’t mean that others experiences are invalid or wrong. Your show would be very beneficial to a lot of guys if they could get past their own “male fragility” and actually listen to women, instead of just waiting for their turn to talk.

    Unconditional Love
I was taking NOTESSSSS on that last ep (Mormon God—I Hardly Know Her!)!!! I was scribbling down quotes and ideas and thoughts like i was back in 2016 studying the BOM lol. as an exmo myself, I love deconstructing God and sitting with the mystery, and just picking the story or idea that resonates with me! I found a lot of new concepts during this episode that I am so interested in exploring, and I DEF believe in a God who gives unconditional love without mormon conditions. was blown away by that section of the pod. ANYWAY love it here, def gonna be sticking around.

    Such a good community!
I don’t usually write reviews but I felt the need to with this podcast! It is so good. I absolutely love listening to it and when I get a notice there’s a new episode I get super excited. I love feeling a sense of community as a post Mormon! It’s nice to feel like I’m not alone and to know other people go through similar experiences. Thank you so much for all the work you do Hayley!

    Love but don’t be republican
She has amazing and intellectual insights. Leaving Mormonism was already so ostracizing I thought I found a community here but even though I’m mostly moderate I do lean right and she talks very down on anyone who has right leaned values. For someone that is wanting to be open to all views and perspectives, she definitely outcasts on anyone who doesn’t vote the same as she.

    Relevant and Relatable
Girlscamp is an extremely engaging listen. Host Hayley’s discussions regarding bodily autonomy and body image are frank, affirming, relatable and thought-provoking. The topics discussed are universally relevant, so, despite the title, you needn’t identify as female to get something out of Girlscamp. These are discussions we all should be having, regardless of sex or gender.

    I tried, I really did… for a year.
Listening to Hayley was hard before when she first started the pod. But I loved hearing stories & I loved that she had some of my favorite creators on the pod. (Madi, Jaci, etc.) The pod always felt weird though because she was acting like she did something so different… but girl… have you heard of Mormon Stories… they’ve already done it. This new direction she’s trying to take pod would be refreshing… but it’s weird that the fact that non-verbal autistics not being telepathic (I’m autistic) is the reason she wanted to change the pod. & then someone debunking the telepathy thing being compared to Joseph Smith… it’s just weird vibes. She uses the pod as therapy. She needs to figure herself out before she tries to run a podcast because it’s just flat & weird. You can feel her grasping for relevance.

    New Pod
I’ve been listening as a neverMo for sometime now and I have loved it. Every episode! As a resolution I’ve been wanting to find more faith outside of religion (grew up catholic) and this rebrand seems so timely. I’m excited to see where Hayley goes on this next chapter!♥️

Never Mormon but a forever camper!
I’m a never Mormon but I just found this pod and I’m obsessed with listening and bingeing all the old episodes!

    New here
My husband and I love referring to our post mormon journey as “working on our 15 year chip” almost like AA sober from Mormonism. We were both raised LDS, actually met in our home ward. Started dating whenI was 15 (gasp!) and he was 18 and just graduated high school and prepping for his mission. Soooo many stories of our journey. Married in the temple in 2005 and officially left the church in 2011. A non (never) member friend knows our journey and has always been so Intrigued sent us this podcast and it is so exhilarating. I LOVE hearing about the nuisances of the church that for so long haunted me and ai still felt shame and guilt speaking about ANY of my thoughts and feelings. This podcast is so fun and easy to listen to and has given my husband-and I some great conversations. And I appreciate how open you are but also I feel you are SO sensitive and kind when speaking about the church, and experiences and leaving topics open for those affected, still In it, or wondering so many things. Would love to be on your show LoL Keep up the good feels and stories

    Just what I need
Thank you Hayley for all the thoughtful effort you put into this show - I can only imagine it’s helped so many people like me going through faith deconstruction. You are a treasure!

An amazing story of post Mormon transition.
This is an incredible story told by an astonishing narrator, Hayley Rawle. It’s well worth the investment in your time to start from the first episode. It will not disappoint. 10/10.

I’m a nevermo and I love this podcast
I found the pod after SLOMW came out and have slowly been listening to each episode. I love how the host gives a safe space for people to share their stories, no matter where they are on their journey of deconstruction. And for what it’s worth, I find the hosts voice to be very calming! (For whatever weirdo commented that they don’t like her voice)

    Favorite Podcast!!!
I don’t know Hayley personally but each episode, with a guest or solo, I feel like I’m digging into the deepest and funnest of conversations with a good friend. When I left the church I grew apart from my TBM friends. We used to sit around a fire many times and share scary mission stories we had heard from friends and neighbors and talk about the complexities of the gospel. This podcast has been a lifeline in my faith transition and kept me feeling supported and understood in the many lonely moments that come with leaving the church. Love love love!!!

    Not for me
This podcast just doesn’t really give off a positive energy. Although some episodes I think could be valuable for individuals struggling in their religious spaces- I think it lacks respect and any type of nuance. This person just seems angry and found a platform to express that anger. Just not for me!
  • Listener523
    I’m into it!
Hayley is so eloquent, genuine, brave, and sincere. I have never been Mormon, but I grew up in a predominantly Mormon community, so the topic is so fascinating to me. Will be a listener for as long as the podcast is around!!
  • jleuac
    Negative energy
I don’t care what religion she was or is, this podcast has so much negativity about religion and it’s sad. I’ve only listened to a few episodes and will not be listening to any others. It’s one thing to leave a religion, but it’s a whole different kind of bitter to start a podcast purely to spread hate and misinformation about it. Most of the “trauma” being shared is NOT trauma. They are graspingggg at straws here. I can’t imagine how miserable this person is to revolve a podcast around hating a religion you’re no longer a part of.

    Not a mean girl
42 year old straight white male here. I love love love me some girls camp podcast. It makes me smile to see the latest one has been downloaded and I get to listen to her. She recently sat in as co-host on Mormon Stories podcast and did very well there as well. Hayley is a great listen!

    Healing
This podcast has been such an amazing resource as someone who has recently left the LDS church. It approaches subjects with respect, and without the intense negativity that other podcasts and pages have (which is understandable but was hard for me personally when I was freshly out). The insights on this podcast have made me laugh, cry, and finally feel like I can start to heal.
  • BreeinAF
    Bitter and biased.
So much misinformation and personal vendetta. If you don’t believe in the gospel anymore no one is forcing you to stay or believe- but how is your life enriched by dwelling on your own negative engagement with the church? It makes no sense. Also watch sources- the CES letter has been debunked and all the anti matter is such misinformation.

    The Language Isn’t Necessary
I’m a “never Mormon”, but have always been intrigued by what seemed to be a very secretive religion. I have enjoyed all of the actual content; however, the gratuitous use of God’s name in vain is not only a turnoff, but completely unnecessary. The content stands on its own and doesn’t benefit from this language. And I am an example of how it alienates the believers in the audience. I give the content 5 stars, but my overall review is less than half that because of how deeply offensive I find the language.

    New listener
I’m a new follower of your pod and really enjoyed the Mormonism 101 episode. I’m not Mormon, but have been intrigued by the culture for years. My interest was spurred after reading Under the Banner of Heaven (tho I understand that the LDS church doesn’t condone polygamy in modern time). I’d love to hear more about the wealth and holdings of the church. Boggled my mind to learn that the church is the biggest owner of farmland in my home state of Illinois!

    Found My People
Found this podcast through Haley's TikTok and it's been amazing to have content that I can relate so much to. Born and raised UT Mormon but I haven't been active for about 8 years. I've just recently started to come out of what I call my "denial" stage or "Switzerland" mindset. So I have a lot of things to work through regarding the church and this podcast has provided a sense of community and understanding I didn't know I needed. It's nice to know I'm not alone in the things I experienced. Love Haley and her bravery!

The only girls camp I can get behind
I’ve spent the last week-ish listening to every episode of Girlscamp, and after finally catching up today, I can truly say it’s one of my favorite (if not THE favorite) podcasts! Hayley does such an amazing job hosting, interviewing, explaining, telling stories, listening - all the things! I was born into the Mormon church, and I’ve spent at least the last decade (I’m 27) feeling very at odds with the church - especially the last few years, where I haven’t even wanted to call myself a member of it. This podcast has helped me to feel less alone in that, and there have seriously been a few mind blowing moments of hearing Hayley and her guests vocalize exactly what I had felt or experienced. It’s also helped me process and understand a lot about why I feel the way I do about certain aspects/teachings of the Mormon church. Hayley, keep doing what you’re doing! It’s helping so many people and I hope you know how appreciated it is! <3

    OBSESSED WITH THIS POD!
I love this pod and I have listened since day one! Hayley knows her stuff and also has done such an amazing job at creating an ex- mormon community. Which soooo many of us need!! I love all the variety of topics and I am just laughing, crying and enjoying every minute! Never stop making these episodes! I look forward to them every week!💖

Haley does such an amazing job on the pod! She’s thoughtful, intelligent and witty! Such an interesting platform and I love each episode!

Interesting and informative without being boring
I’m a never been Mormon and I was always curious about all the rules and secrets of the LDS religion. I’m not completely clueless because I grew up in Utah. I was 1 of 3 in my elementary class that wasn’t Mormon. I even asked my mom if we could “just be Mormon” it fit in. Looking back I’m glad we didn’t convert. Such a fascinating religion and Hayley has a beautiful way of explaining and helping me understand the inside of the Mormon bubble. 🫧🤍

    Well-spoken queen 👑
Been here since episode one and WOW. I’m continually impressed with Hayley’s ability to talk about everything with such grace. She truly is the smartest, most well-spoken woman. I would listen to her talk about anything. 💗 I can feel her sincerity and purpose through my phone.

Nevermormon here! This podcast has been apart of my daily routine for months! Love learning about different theologies. I’ve always been a Christian but find Hayley’s and similar stories so interesting.

Fantastic podcast to ease the pain involved in religious trauma
While Mormon Stories my first post-Mormon podcast, I found that the overall vibe of MS was a bit too much after a while. I’ll still listen to an episode here and there, but the long form, heavy podcast episodes were a lot to maintain after being out for a while. It didn’t feel like a sustainable way to digest moving into the post-Mormon space. Girls camp podcast is different. Very light hearted, very digestible - when it covers heavy topics it tends to not linger. Instead, it brings out the heavy, lightens the load a bit, then moves on. After listening to this podcast for months, I’m really starting to feel the cumulative effects of so many heavy topics being blunted. Hayley has a gift for being positive, and really treating topics the way they should be treated - lightly. She treats a lot of “once taboo” subjects like they are a regular part of life - which they are! Would highly recommend this podcast to anyone on a deconstruction journey.

    I’m older, but here!
I was an adult convert at age 38. I’m now 62 and leaving church activity and all the things! I think I’m too old for this space? Maybe….. but I love it anyway …😂 Hayley, you are so wise, respectful, and well spoken 💟

    So Needed!
Love this podcast! It fulfills such an important purpose providing support, community, validation, and encouragement to those who have left the Mormon church.

    Grateful
Ten years after leaving the church, this podcast has been so helpful and insightful as I find myself continuing to deconstruct my experience growing up in the church. I wish this podcast had been around when I first left, but I am so grateful to have found it now; Haley truly has a gift for putting my confusing thoughts and emotions surrounding the church into words. I love that every episode is so relatable makes me feel seen, understood and validated. I’ve found a sense of community with this podcast and my fellow campers, and I no longer feel alone in my experiences.

As an ex-mormon, I wish this podcast had been available as I was leaving the church. I’m happy it exists now as a resource for others and when I’m looking for some post-mormon therapy. Thanks for putting yourself out there <3
  • McRivisback
    Five stars. One caveat
I love love love this podcast! I was recommended it while I was out of the church, but still at BYUI. I needed this while I was there. I felt like there was no one who understood. So far I’ve loved every episode. My ONLY qualm is….i need more!! I drive around a lot for work, and usually listen to podcasts. I love this one so much I wish it was daily! But obviously that’s hard to do hahah Thank you Hayley for working so hard on this…it has saved my life and I wouldn’t be surprised if it saved some others💛

    Obsessed
I have loved having a non angry post-mo perspective where I can come laugh and learn about all things post religion. This podcast has helped me have courage to live more authentically. Sometimes this process feels lonely but having spaces like this makes a big difference. Thank you!!
  • Would-be ex-mo
    LOVE THIS POD!
I’m not Mormon but grew up in Utah with very Mormon family. I went to church frequently, participated in YW activities, temple trips, etc. so I resonate deeply with this podcast’s message as I deconstruct my personal beliefs, my family relationships, and the seeming overpowering role Mormonism plays in Utah culture. The host is very well-spoken, respectful, truthful, and thoughtful as she dissects the faith and its lingerings throughout an ex-Mormon (or would-be ex-Mormon’s) life. I recommend this series to any of my friends or family leaving the church or to anybody curious about the other side of religion in general. 5 stars every day!

    camp is love
hayley’s warm presence and personal experience informs insightful musings on the nature of religion & the LDS faith. she holds the topic with care, infuses it with humor, and creates a space for those of us who have left religion & often lack the ability to talk and relate about it with others (also, i find her campfire chats entertaining, and they make sense for the tone of the show). really enjoy this podcast, especially the youtube format since the audio/visual quality is so good!
  • TheHopefulGoose
    So cozy and heartwarming
Overall, this podcast is comforting and offers support to those going through faith transitions and delves into the complications and fallout that follows. I appreciate Hayley’s integrity and honesty in uncertainty while remaining hopeful for betterment all around.
