    Bored with actors
It used to be a feat for an actor to “make it” onto Fresh Air. Less unique now. Social media has made celebrity culture so ubiquitous I don’t feel as curious about comedians and performers like I once did. Maybe Im just older…but I like the historical and political takes from really smart thinkers - esp authors who wouldn’t get a platform elsewhere.

    Outstanding
Terrie and Tonya are outstanding interviewers and hosts and the show takes on fascinating topics, big and small.

    Racist Propaganda from our government
10/28/24 Eliza Griswold book review - A Princeton professor concludes with the message that Trump supporters are wedded to American exceptionalism, white Christian nationalism and “celebrating whiteness.” It is NPR’s favorite narrative : Trump supporters are dangerous, racist White Christians. NPR is funded by our tax dollars and wealthy donors (who are tied to the government in a plausibly deniable way). The revision of Smith–Mundt Act in 2013 allows the federal government to propagandize Americans. So Why is state sponsored media creating fear against certain racial / religious groups? Governments in the past have used propaganda to demonize races and religions to gain political power to disastrous ends. Ms. Gross, as the executive producer of Fresh Air, why do you constantly allow this racist and divisive rhetoric on your program? 2/29/24 Hour long Bradley Onishi interview claims Trump voters are literally “Preparing for War.” - A common theme on NPR nowadays is to claim “white Christian nationalists” will violently overthrow the government during the next election for Trump. This is the definition of RACISM. It is racism in its highest form to lump your political enemies along racial and religious lines and declare war on them. By claiming that THEY will commit violence, NPR is implying that one better “get them before they get us.” NPR is funded by the government, but mostly by the world’s richest elites via their “foundations” and NPR’s CEO’s appear to be from the western world’s intel community. Why do the world’s elites and our western governments continually propagate this message? Why do they wish to disunite with this dangerous language? Historically, when has dividing a country by race and religion ever worked out for the better? 4/22/24 Another book interview and the message is: white, male, Christian Trump voters are dangerous to America’s future. There are no journalists at NPR. This is racism in its rawest form. And they are no longer hiding it.

Terrie should let someone else interview the Palestinian
Terrie your attitude toward todays quest was so flat and different from last weeks interview with the Israeli writer. This is bigger than you. 70+ years of Israel killing is enough. They were once the targeted population. How could they not see what they are doing!

    Terri Gross
When I was a kid I imagined Terri was hot. Then I saw her picture! Omg. Truly a face for radio. Thanks, God. 🙄

    Tanya, stop interrupting!!
I don’t mind Tanya, she’s not and never will be Terry. And I could listen to her interviews even though she’s not as engaging but I CANT STAND WHEN SHE INTERRUPTS GUESTS WHILE THEY ATE TALKING!!!! Sometimes she does it to complete their thought and sometimes she does it, and it is so infuriating when I want to hear what the guest has to say, only to get cut off by Tanya interrupting!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!! Stop interrupting Tanya!!!

    Amazing interviews
Feels like the New Yorker in audio form. Honestly, I feel like it works better as a radio show where you can’t pick and choose what to listen to though.

    No title
There’s no way I’m going to pay for a subscription. I even often just mark episodes as played. This used to be a podcast I listened to every day.

The Inside Story of Trump …
What a sad, pathetic rationalization of profound inaction. More proof that Democrats far too often take a knife (at best) to a gunfight. Look at the horrible state of affairs we find ourselves in now because Mueller wouldn’t take the far more “ principled” stand of actively, loudly, consistently defending the truth.

    Sad
Bums me out how Fresh Air and NPR has evolved. Listen to Terry interview Robert Plant way back when and the spontaneity that occurs between them. Listen to Tonya read her questions to… anyone. Alesha Roscoe is NPR’s biggest sounding the elephant in the room.

    Terry Gross IS Fresh Air
Terry Gross IS Fresh Air. There is no substitute. Give Tanya Mosley her own show with its own theme and brand, but this feels like a bait and switch. As Neil Young wrote, it’s better to burn out than to fade away.

    Subscription Only
I have been enjoying Fresh Air for decades. I’m disappointed that so many of the episodes are in the “Best Of” category now. Unfortunately this paid “subscription only” model seems to be the new thing from YouTube to Instagram to other news and information outlets.

Giving Maggie Haberman voice is repugnant
I love this show and have been a listener for years. Haberman is a hack and I’m very disappointed in NPR.
  • Long-time support
    Can no longer support NPR
I’ve been delighted and informed from the early days by Fresh Air and the hosts’ wonderful interviews. Unfortunately, no longer. The reason is the increasing amount of ads and promotional breaks, particularly in Fresh Air, which are annoying and a time waster. If I support NPR, why do I have to be subjected to this? I no longer donate to NPR.

    Please no more Tony Mosley
Love fresh air but I can’t stand Tonya nose let’s voice. Please make someone the permanent cohost Dave Davies or Annmarie bolbanado

This show used to be my favorite. Now the topics and interviews to me are boring. No interest.

    Too many "Best Ofs"
Been listening to Fresh Air for years, but I'm sorry to see so many "Best Of" programs. There are so many interesting people doing all sorts of things and I'd love to hear from them.

Great addition and great perspective! Love her interviews!

    Extortion
Been listening to and enjoying Fresh Air for four decades, but folks, I’ve about had it. This last episode must have had a dozen ads. Seems to me like NPR is purposely trashing the free listening experience to strong arm us into paying for Plus. It’s not enough that I generously support Public Broadcasting through member contributions? I am done with this podcast.

    Tanya
I’ve listened to Terry for over 30 years and no one interviews better. That said I understand that Terry may want to slow down a little and retire at some point and thus, there is not wrong with adding a co host. I just find Tonya difficult to listen to. I know she’s qualified and has the experience to do the job but she speaks in this tone that I find very irritating and distracting. At first, I couldn’t even verbalize what the problem was. However, after many weeks, I can say that she speaks in this soft voice that sounds like a Kindergarten teacher. If she could modulate and emote a little more, speak in a more natural conversational tone, I think it would make all the difference.

    Tired
Tanya is better than Terry and Dave who are old and have tired ideas. Sorry Terry, you are past your useful life. Need fresh blood!
  • lurel23
    Tonya
I wish Tonya Mosley could have a conversation with her guests instead of reading off a list of questions. That’s why Terri is so great.

Israel is fierce and Hamas is brutal?
Could you explain why you introduce Hamas’ attack as ‘brutal’ and Israeli retaliation as ‘fierce’? From a numerical perspective 40,000+ deaths, tens of thousands of injuries including the highest rate of child amputees in the world, and over a million households being uprooted seems brutal. Any civilian death is tragic. I don’t understand your framing and would love to understand. Thanks

    Dave and Terry
Honestly I only really listen if terry and Dave broadcasting. Tonya kinda boring. Sorry if that’s a bummer, but it’s truth.
  • soupy4444
    Quality lower now
I find the episodes far less interesting these days. Programs are mostly about celebrities and entertainment and less about journalism and politics. I haven’t listened in almost a year.
  • Luckydogjen3
    Ho hum
I used to be excited to scroll through the topics each week, prioritizing the ones I couldn’t wait to listen to right away and saving most others for later. Tonya Mosley is easy to listen to but many weeks I just scroll and scroll trying to find something of interest. I’m not tuning in very much these days. I miss what used to be my favorite podcast!

    Terri is the GOAT
Terri is the original VOICE OF AMERICA. Chisel her up there on Mt NPRushmore next to Ira Glass and Neal Conan. Oh well Fresh Air is fine but we will always love you Terri! WHYY do you have to go?!!

    Ads so annoying
I loved Fresh Air until they added so many ads. I understand that a bit of ads may be necessary but that’s over the top. Feels like more ads than content. I rarely listen anymore.

    Been listening for 20+ Years!!
I discovered Fresh Air back in 2001 or so when I discovered NPR in my early 30s (and have been a supporting member ever since). Over the decades I’ve always enjoyed the interviews with a wide variety of great guests, which continue to this day.

    Too much focus on entertainment
I’ve been a regular listener for many years. Love listening to Terry Gross, Dave Davies and now the very articulate and interesting Tonya Mosley — what a great pick for co-host! However, the interviews are more and more about actors, musicians, directors, comedians and others involved in entertainment culture. We used to get more about politics and hear from others who had experienced or done something unusual or extraordinary. I miss those interviews!

Please bring back more Terry Gross!
I’ve been listening to this show since I can remember and have loved Terry’s interviews filled with psychological understanding of her subjects and infused with her unique perspective and personality. Her questions go further and uncover more from her subjects than the standard interview. I know she is wanting to pull back from work and totally understand that but I miss her—badly. While Tonya seems like a lovely person and has the voice to match, but the ability to think of and ask unique questions from a unique perspective is sadly missing. The flavor is missing.

    Losing Ground
Fresh Air was the first podcast I ever listened & subscribed to. I always looked forward to listening to latest episode during my 90 min daily commute. I learned so much, was introduced to so many interesting people/topics and always felt it was time well spent. Teri Gross is a master storyteller & interviewer. Dave Davies was always delightful to listen to when Teri was vacationing, ill or on another assignment. Not too long ago Teri was away from her interview chair for quite some time tending to a personal matter. Not long after she returned it was announced that Teri would share hosting duties with Tanya Mosley. That’s when the show seemed to have taken on a different identity. There are now a lot more “celebrity” and other “entertainment-focused” interviews. The show has changed a lot and in my opinion not for the best. No offense meant to Tanya Mosley but I don’t find her interviews or the shows she hosts to be of the same quality as when Teri or Dave host. Fresh Air podcasts are an institution but the producers seem to have lost their way lately. Please bring back the old Fresh Air. The new version is not as interesting, stimulating or substantive. I find myself listening very rarely these days and am sad to see the deterioration that’s taken place.

    Lost it’s focus
Or, maybe the show’s focus has changed. I just don’t find shows that are interesting to me anymore. Fresh Air used to be one of my go-to podcasts for intellectually interesting discussions. Now, not so much. Considering off-loading the app.

The show continues to improve and Tanya has the voice of an angel

I love the show, but ….
I was very disappointed in the interview of Jill Ciment. She rewrote history in her second book. Why not press her on which aspects of each version of history gg gg we events took place when she and her professor/future husband had their first encounter? There must be some hard facts that did not change. The scant explanation in the interview made me think neither book was worth reading.

    Kevin Love Knuckle Push-Ups
In October of 2012 Kevin Love got drunk, punched a wall and broke his hand. Schwartz spins it as knuckle pushups, and then has Woj do a hit piece with Love trashing Wolves to change the narrative. To this day that is how most fans remember it. What is the name of the bar? In a 30 team competitive league, wouldn't it be illegal for gm's or player agents to use media to shape the market on their behalf? Are their anti-trust laws they have violated, in the way you might with a competitive stock?
