CoachTosayaUnsubscribed After Being an ETR Fan since 2010One of the best parts of ETR was the banter and the personalities. From show-to-show now there's no consistent cast or personality to the episodes. After being a fan since Day 1 during the 2010 WC with Nick, Greg and Simon to just this week I've decided to unsubscribe. You guys have lost me. Maybe it's a sign of the progress the league is making, there are a lot more options now to jump to if this isn't my cup of tea. I'm disappointed though; really loved the format of the show up to this year.
-
Sahil DeschenesTalk more about other teamsPodcast is very focused on a small number of teams. Cover the rest of the league instead of the same ones each week
-
Billy SatterwhitePodcast went downhillA lot of a great quality in the convo went down when David Gass was fired. Wiebe and Doyle really like the sound of their own voice…

BdizzogHow the mighty have fallenBeen listening to the show for well over a decade, back when it was the only option. It used to be the best podcast covering the MLS, hands down. You had a perfect trio, Wiebe the literal perfect host. Professional and knowledgeable. Gass, the fun uncle who makes everyone laugh and who’s enthusiasm is contagious. And Doyle, who’s hyper focused and straight to the point with incredibly useful knowledge that he can communicate effectively. Then a couple years ago, something changed. A new host was added, to bring in a certain demographic I’m sure. However, they openly admitted they didn’t follow the league prior to being hired by Apple and they were clearly WAY out of their depth on the podcast. Fortunately, an act of self sabotage ended that disaster. Next, someone thought, “Hey we have a perfect trio. Let’s nix it, no one needs the fun loving contagious energy uncle. You know, the guy who perfectly balances out the hyper focus of the other host. Instead, let’s hear from the players and coaches themselves. Because people want more dribble where players talk for half and hour, but don’t actually say anything at all!” I used to look forward to this podcast. I literally would refresh constantly waiting for the episode to drop. But despite Wiebe’s Herculean efforts, he’s flying a plane that’s missing half a wing. Whoever is making the decisions for the past year and change is actively trying to sabotage the show. I refuse to believe ineptitude at this kind of a level truly exists, but maybe I’m wrong. Regardless, this should be studied. How you take a podcast that’s an institution, drag it out into the middle of the street, and beat it mercilessly. And if that’s not enough, you decide to urinate on what’s left of the crumpled body. Leaving everyone who’s watching on in horror to wonder, will they stop at that or will they have the urge to defecate on it as well. So, Wiebe and Doyle. Keep it up, you’re doing amazing work considering what you’re being given. The listeners know it and we stand behind you. Your early week show together is the only thing keeping me listening. And to the person(s) who have taken what was literally, for a decade my favorite thing, and literally ruined it. I hope that you get diarrhea on all of your vacations, that airlines always lose your luggage, and that both sides of your pillow are always warm. That you hit every single red light, that you constantly have the feeling of needing to sneeze but can’t, and that the audio is always out of sync with what you’re watching.

Williams271368Extra Time for Certain Teams OnlyThis show has chronically only focused on the golden boys of MLS. Want to hear any sort of analysis as to why a specific team is playing a certain way? This show isn’t for you unless you follow a team on the coast.
-
mwat893Used to be betterLike it more last year. Don’t like the addition of all of the coach/player interviews. Would much rather hear you guys talking through everything.
-
Be MassiveThis is MLSGreat pod. Also, is This is MLS actually on Season Pass? I keep hearing it referenced, found a clip or two, but cannot find the full show anywhere.
-
vilsickLosing me.This podcast has definitely taken a step back after firing David Gass. Doyle and Wiebe still bring what they’ve always brought but that’s proving insufficient. And please stop with the player interviews every week. It has ended up being a very tedious segment that I don’t listen to anymore.
-
PALA2021!So dissappointedI’m not sure why the show decided to go in a different direction, but after listening for a few years I don’t think I can stomach it anymore. Although it’s always been a lot of banter there used to be some real analysis and opinions on the leagues and teams. It has now completely turned into a fluff talkshow; interviews, patting each other on the back, and no real consistency. What used to tolerable, sometimes good and informative is now garbage.

I.Am.Spartacus.Less EnjoyableBring back Gass, you dirtbags.
-
espervesperCanning Gass was a mistakeI haven’t listened to any episodes since David’s last, and I’m not sure if I will going forward. As a longtime MLS fan, 2024 has been by far the league’s least compelling for me. While I understand bringing Messi in at whatever cost, the flagrant disregard for their own self-imposed arcane rules—when it suits Don Garber’s whims—combined with a general move towards shinier, shallower coverage, just really doesn’t do it for me. I don’t like the term ‘bush league,’ but there’s a strong ‘kid wearing his dad’s pants and trying to pass as an adult’ vibe to everything MLS right now. David Gass was the realest dude left in the league office, and it’s pretty clear from his firing that MLS doesn’t want fans like me anymore. Two stars—one apiece for Doyle and Weibe. Enjoy em, boys.

Former ETR listenerWhat happened to Gass?Good show but won't be the same without Gassman. Is he getting his own show? Didn't sound like it.

Snicklefritz0074BestHands down the best MLS podcast available !

TeeeeeteeWTH Gass?I love this show and have listened loyally for years (subscribed probably 8-7 years ago). Gass was one of the most entertaining and insightful contributors. It sounds like MLS thought he needed to be fired. I’ve fired a ton of people in my career and have experienced difficult management decisions. From an audience member’s perspective, a person who provides a high level of entertainment and keeps me listening seems invaluable. I would never fire someone who my clients love. I would never deal with a company who lets go of some of their most valuable contributors - it’s a sign of incredible mismanagement and disconnect with audience. Im not making money from MLS, I’m just looking for interesting insights and some witty jokes. Unless I hear that Gass is about to be indicted for a felony in the next few years, I will conclude that MLS has prioritized politics over entertaining product. I cannot forgive an organization petty enough to prioritize politics over producing the best work product. Unsubscribed with sadness.

Tuny23Great for MLS fansAll of the hosts are super knowledgeable. Great banter as well. Well rounded coverage of the league.

Minnesota Kicks FanMLS controlled propagandaIt’s a good show. I’m glad to have an MLS focused show with people that know the league. I don’t like that Garber and the league are trying to control the narrative and not allowing any sort of criticism or debate on some of the controversial issues facing the league such as the open cup debacle and the replacement referees. We want authentic conversations and sometimes that involves calling the league out on it’s bulls**t
-
thisIsEatsJust Stop ItUsed to listen to this show religiously, and it played a meaningful role in growing my passion for the league. Now, it's 40 minutes of Messi banter. I get to the end of every episode feeling like I wasted my time. This was my source for learning about what is happening around the league and now I need to go elsewhere for that. The hosts will probably think this review is just banter or sour grapes, but I'm genuinely disheartened by the drop in quality.
-
8262827293674048166395MLS PR HourPlease discuss MLS issues affecting the league like the replacement refs and pulling out of leagues cup

Micah.E.DavisWhat’s up with match day 1!I’m only able to listen to the first 13 minutes.
-
groviteguyCan’t Live Without ItExtraTime is a staple of my weekly podcast diet. Love the hosts, audio quality, and the sheer range and depth of the MLS topics covered by the team. Helps me stay up to date with entire league and learn the niche players, as well as some MLS history. Definitely my favorite sports podcast, full stop.
-
whatyagonnadoPro-MLS centric perspective. Very biased.Wiebe, Gass, Doyle and company are paid for by Apple and MLS and will not bite the hand that feeds them, which isn’t surprising and I don’t blame them. However, if you want actual, hard-hitting analysis of anything MLS does outside the pitch, you will not find it here. Look no further than the blank stares and league written statement written by Wiebe on the latest podcast. What’s the point of an MLS podcast if the hosts cannot openly express themselves?
-
Jim1999US Open CupDisgraceful “coverage” of MLS’ decision to not participate in 2024 US Open Cup. MLS’ actions make it very easier not to follow the league. I will not be spendy any money on MLS again.

BurtMacklin31Favorite soccer podcastGreetings, greetings! I’ve been listening to ETR since the Nick Firchau/Simon Borg days, and while I enjoyed it then, I gotta say this is my favorite iteration of hosts right now. From New York New York, Andrew Wiebe, Matt Doyle, and David Gass are the holy trinity of ETR, and their rotating panelists Tom Bogert, Calen Carr, and others are the perfect addition when they pop in. Doyle’s endless soccer knowledge with his perfect amount of sarcasm is a joy to listen to, while Wiebe can lean into and even join in on everyone razzing him relentlessly. Wiebe’s a fantastic host and he just gets better as time goes on. Gass knows his stuff and isn’t afraid to challenge anyone else on the show if he thinks they’re wrong about something, but is also quick to admit when he’s wrong as well (if he’s ever wrong about anything, right?!) Anyway, I love this show, and these guys accompany me on some long drives twice a week and I look forward to every new episode that comes out. Keep it up, my favorite partners in soccer!
-
Hair95My favorite podcastThis right here is the beating heart, the hallowed epicenter of true MLS nerddom. You won’t find better knowledge of the league’s history or in-depth coverage of its day-to-day than this. Despite being MLS employees, the hosts don’t hold back their opinions (I should know, they’ve roasted my team plenty of times). Makes it all the more satisfying when my team does do something noteworthy and I get to listen to these experts break down our performance in detail.
-
edoiron31Awesome!The best! A bunch of radio-face dorks (other than Kaylyn and Wiebe) trying to see who can name the most MLS players in a little over an hour. If you like this podcast, tune into mine! It’s called “Reading names out of random phone books from around the world in sarcastic voices”
-
janenobbsOne stop shop for MLS fansPodcast is great. Hosts are all amazing and fun. Rotation hosts keeps the podcast fresh. I’d prefer a slightly more quantitative approach letting Doyle share his insights unfiltered but love the pod. Maybe even some more educational episodes between match days about how to watch the game, metrics to look for, topics like space, etc.

J I Bar NoneLet’s Take this show to a new levelI really like this show. I’ve been listening for years and I was looking forward to the move to a studio. I could have been happier with the show. I have to say that I expected them to take it to the next level by actually watch the plays they’re talking about. I mean it doesn’t have to be a full highlight show but let the guys have those videos. It’s pointless to have it on TV if we are just watching them talk and not use the highlights. I have to say, give Dave a show of his own. He is a big fish now. All in all I like the show and I will support but I would that to be added to the deck. Trust us when we say we don’t want to replay it in our heads, we want to see them. I’ll switch to 4-5 star when that happens.
-
-2185-Face for Radio? Some people are told they have a face for radio implying their voice is a great listen but this doesn’t apply to Wiebe. My ears bleed whenever he’s discussing anything in studio or online. He’s an embarrassing mouthpiece for the league that just serves to carry water for whatever story they want to advance each season.
-
TefftlonETR RulesThe best way to keep up with a league that has 29 teams that continues to grow. The way they interact with fans has always been great! Between twitter conversations & mailbag episodes, I often feel included. If I have any complaint, it’s that Anders has cracked down on time keeping. Maybe he’s being “professional” and “doing his job” but the occasional 2-3 hour episode would be fine. Especially during preseason.

lfulk1Obligatory Roast ReviewThe five stars speak for themselves
-
Adtysoc04Roast?I’m not much in to Roast, not that their bad. Just prefer a meatloaf or something more of that ilk. This show however has been fun to listen to regularly this year… St Louis CITY supporter. I listened here and there in the past but not as regularly as I do now. All the host are very knowledgeable about the game. Would recommend.
-
TDAHuskerLook forward to each episode!I really enjoy listening to Weibe and Gass and Bogert when he’s on. (Doyle is mid, to use the kids’ terminology.) This is the best national MLS podcast, in my opinion. Their analysis is usually very good and they’re entertaining.
-
Whatsupd0gIt’s Good.Listen to it. Watch it. It’s a solid show. But, weirdly, they asked reviewers on their most recent episode to leave a roast. So here’s my favorite roast recipe: 4 to 5 lb. whole chuck roast Kosher salt and pepper, to taste 2 tbsp. olive oil, plus more as needed 2 whole onions 6 to 8 whole carrots 1 c. red wine (optional, you can use beef broth instead) 2 to 3 c. beef stock 3 sprigs fresh thyme, or more to taste 3 sprigs fresh rosemary, or more to taste If needed for taste, feel free to add gutted fish. They can be found in Seattle.

Balanc3When I’m in a bad mood etr makes me happyNot even kidding, these guys are the best I love this show and twice a week I’m happy to hang out with the fellas
-
DrSteve616ArroganceOften extremely biased. Disrespectful of all fan bases not their own. Borders on mean.
-
Pao7000Like the podcast crew but could do without the “banter”Been listening to Extra Time for years and it hasn’t been the same lately with all the forced banter. Love all the hosts, they are fun to listen to when it comes to soccer and even the personal anecdotes and such, but seems more and more the podcast has been shifting into the realm of more mainstream sports programming in the USA which is loaded with stupid competitive banter between hosts. This is why is always listen to spanish language soccer broadcasts if given the choice, so I can enjoy the actual game instead of having to listen to hosts fake insult each other all the time. Same thing with podcasts. I want to hear people talk with passion but with respect for the game and each other.
-
g3423What, when? What is the purpose of this pod? When do they talk soccer?
-
jtczarArrogant SnobsAmazing can’t imagine NFL network would talk crap about a game they should be building up. It is very apparent who you like and don’t like, seems network host should work to strengthen all MLS teams not just there favorites.
-
Andrew Wiebe’s anklesLIVE FROM NEW YORK NEW YORKLove this show, been listening for a couple years now. Keep killing it!
-
alfmaulGood content interrupted by exhausting and repetitive dribble. We get it, one of y’all is from Canada, one of y’all lives in NJ, one of y’all lives there, one of y’all lives here, one of y’all played for X team. And please have opinions without the endless disclaimers.
-
Codfjuyugechhg“MLS” podcastI used to love this podcast. But then it turned into fanboy of non playoff teams and the coast teams. They have said in a pod months ago that they can’t cover every team. They why call yourself an MLS podcast. Even giving yourself 3 mins a team would only be 87 mins. If you can’t commit to doing every MLS team. Then delete that part from your podcast.
-
Magnum Steve.I.Podcast is tired and obnoxiousThis used to be a ”go to” podcast, but the quality of content has fallen drastically and is nothing more than “inside jokes” between Wiebe & Co. Not a ton of useful info anymore.
-
horgarLess leftist politics, more soccerSo tired of these defuses going all in on leftist politics as their feature story. Just stick to soccer or take a different job. You are free to keep it up, but I just move on to the next podcast the second you start to preach.
-
Z@h@h@ET ShowTrying to watch the the new ET show on Apple. Instead of having the suggestion to Subscribe to the show and the reminder that new shows are every Monday & Thursday, please update the screen throughout the show to show the viewer the person/people and teams/conferences you’re discussing as the show progresses. It would add a lot.
-
Skyjedi8NewbieNew fan to MLS (i played soccer ⚽️ in 9th grade) and I would recommend you guys to anyone who is interested/looking for a soccer 🥅 podcast to listen to
-
JUtah31Woke InterjectionsLeave the woke stuff to other podcasts
-
lynchth2Too Long/Some AnalysisIf you’re looking for a long podcast where the hosts enjoy being together, banter, and provide some soccer analysis then this is probably a good pod for you. The coverage of clubs is uneven however. If you’re looking for a shorter show that covers teams with more detailed analysis I’d suggest looking elsewhere.
-
oz whipsWow, y’all putting this on Gio!!You guys are really thinking this was all on the kid… seems like it’s all about learn your lesson… kid said he learned but the ADULT in the situation screwed this up..
-
