    For all film lovers.
Adam Schartoff is a rare host in that he’s both exceedingly knowledgeable and also a real mensch. I don’t consider myself a “film person” per se (though I enjoy a good movie as much as the next person), but Schartoff somehow makes all this accessible and entertaining. I highly recommend Filmwax Radio!

A different type of podcast for a different world
Both stimulating and relaxing to listen to Adam and his various guests talk about all things artistic and timely. And you feel like you are in the room laughing and learning. Times have changed but film, music and life still move forward. A nice way to end the day or to listen when you have some drops of time and want to think about something different from the daily grind. Thanks for the great work.

    Great Podcast for Indie Film!
I’ve been listening to Filmwax Radio for many years now. The guests are always fascinating, and Adam brings a lot to the table with his questions. I always learn a lot and I’m very thankful to have this resource, especially now as we are all hunkered down.

    Friendly and insightful film discussions
LOVE this podcast. Adam (and his collaborators) conduct terrific interviews with fascinating subjects, and his love for film is evident. He knows his history, but doesn't let it overwhelm the immediacy of the conversations he has with filmmakers, actors, etc. So glad I discovered this, and proud that I've had a hand in a couple of the films he's highlighted.

Filmwax Radio puts the subject front and center
Filmwax Radio is straightforward and unpretentious. Adam Schartoff’s interviews with filmmakers and others often feel like late night after-dinner conversations among friends (new or old). This is my favorite kind of interviewing because it puts the subject of the interview, and their work, first and foremost. In too many of the interview programs I hear, including several that have long been established as national broadcasts, the interviewer too often interrupts the guest so that the interviewer's questions, analysis, clever comments, etc. overshadow and disrupt what the guest has to say. Listening to such programs, I often want to tell the host: “be quiet and let this guest finish their thought, point, etc.” Filmwax, on the other hand, gives filmmakers and others the space to follow through on their own comments, stories and very interesting tangents. Schartoff steps in when needed to move the conversation forward, sometimes humorously, but mostly he listens along with us and — in doing that — allows us to really learn something about, and from, the guests he features. I wish more radio (via airwaves, satellite or Internet) was like this.

    Fascinating interviews for all!
I am not immersed in the film world, but I still really enjoy listening to these conversations between a host, Adam Schartoff, who is deeply knowledgeable about film, and people from across the industry. Whether the interviewee is someone he knows or is meeting for the first time, the exchanges are easygoing and revealing about why and how people practice their craft. It’s definitely worth tuning in to hear both the big names and those who are less well-known.

If you love film, this is a must.
Filmwax Radio is one of the best film-related podcasts out there. If you enjoy interviews with all the important filmmakers, writers, actors and crew who make independent (and non-independent) cinema happen, you gotta put this on your podcast list. Think Terry Gross. The interviews are enlightening but very breezy and enjoyable to listen to. Like having coffee with a bunch of friends. Filmwax Radio has been around for a long time and the host, Adam, certainly knows what he’s doing. Very polished podcast but relaxed too.

It's like listening to a good friend who knows everything about film
Adam is a deceptively skilled interviewer. He jokes and laughs with his guests in a casual way that makes each interview feel like listening in to a couple of familiar people talking to each other. In the process, Adam illuminates interesting aspects of the industry or the project that only a highly knowledgable film critic would bring up. He makes it sound easy. At first, I thought this would be all about films I've never heard of, but Adam interviews the indie maker and the big stars in the exact same way. His style is genuine and compellling. It's a real pleasure to listen to and discover.

One of the best film-related podcasts there is!
Any show that has Hal Hartley on six times is one worth listening to.

    I'm not a typical listener
You don't have to be a cinephile to enjoy this podcast. The cnversations are about storytelling and art making at the end of the day, something that's quite universal. And Schartoff is both entertaining and thoughtful, fun to listen to. I recommend this podcast to anyone how simply enjoys good talk.

FILM GEEKS TAKE NOTE: ONE OF THE BEST FILM PODCASTS OUT THERE!
Adam Schartoff's Filmwax Radio is one of the best movie podcasts out there. His guests range from young indies on the rise to legendary auteurs. As a host, Schartoff's questions are never generic or mundane and his calming presence seems to leave his guests at ease, culminating in typically great interviews. Most recently, his interview with Paul Schrader regarding his new film "First Reformed" was like eavesdropping on a conversation you wish you were having with one of your heroes. I highly recommend scrolling through the archive. Chances are, you'll find a filmmaker you love and discover that you're an enormous fan of what Filmwax Radio has to offer. - R. Cotto

    Off-the-Cuff Art
Very few realize that hosting, editing, and interviewing for podcasts is an art unto itself. Not only is Adam Schartoff's style natural and off-the-cuff, his art is in keeping things moving and keeping you locked in and wholly engaged, while simultaneously convincing you that you've just been privy to a chill hangout with folks uninhibitedly talking turkey about cinema. He doesn't pachke around like I often hear other podcasters do. And his record of interviewing top-flight talent proves unequivocally that he is trusted and skilled in this regard.

    An institution
Filmwax exceeds other similar film podcasts primarily because of the lack of pretension in the host, Adam Shartoff. When he sits down with these amazing artists of cinema, the conversation is always natural and flowing. This matters a lot to me. I can't stand listening to forced communication and hosts who push for laughs through inane attempts at humor. With Shartoff if feels like you're listening to a real conversation. And he is constantly having great guests on. Here's to another 400 episodes!
