Help Me Be Me

1,694

Help Me Be Me is an emotional toolkit for creating positive change in yourself. I like to think of it as self-help for people who hate self-help. I'm Sarah May, coach/author/all-around happy person, and these are the tools that work for me in my life. For all of my offerings you can check out YayWithMe.com What I share on this show is my personal opinion. It's not a diagnosis for treatment or a substitute for professional help. Love this podcast
I do hate MANY self help books and genres. It takes 10 hours for the very bland author to really get to the point and then your left with what there is to do about it anyway. Sarah says it all so clearly and relatable and the self reflection and “to dos” are so effective and awesome. So thankful for her putting on this incredible podcast.

    Wisdom Nuggets Galore
So many wisdom "nuggets" to take in. Incredibly helpful. If only I could now figure out a way to keep a mini Sarah on my shoulder to give me a little tap when it's time to apply them.

    Transformational!
I cannot say enough good things about this podcast. It has become my BIBLE and helped me work through concepts I’ve been stuck on with no progress for years. Love it!! So many gems in each episode.

    Excellent!
I just started this podcast tonight and wow, I am so glad I did. It touched on so many aspects of the things I’m dealing with. And I like that instead of just talking and describing a bunch of problems, you actually provide tangible tools that I can put into practice. Thank you! Love it!

    An episode for every situation
My bsf and I trade these episodes back and forth, when we have a situation we’ve been chewing between us, one of us will go find the corresponding episode and it never fails us. The conclusions we came to that felt natural but scary, Sarah is there to validate them and help us get onto the right track. We both hate a lot of self help type podcasts and me, I can’t stand many formats of podcast period, but we adore this one. Never stop doing what you’re doing, you’re such a crucial resource.

    Episode 184
I landed on this podcast for the first time today when I was looking for some practical insight on dealing with people who don’t respect boundaries. Episode 184 really hit the nail on the head and provided some great ideas for dealing with boundary-abusers and gaslighters. I plan to listen to more episodes in the future!

    Wow wow
Help Me Be Me is amazing. I cannot remember how I came about this podcast but I am so glad I did. It feels as if though each episode coincidentally resonates with situations I have or am currently enduring. Sarah May thank you for your insight!! Your words have pulled me out of situations I didn’t know I had the strength to get out of. The amount of friends and family I have recommended this podcast to are countless! Again, thank you thank you.

    Best Therapist I’ve Never Met
This podcast has held some of the most poignant wisdom I have ever heard from a therapist, and I’ve been in and out of therapy for 20 years. Sarah May speaks to her listeners as if they were friends, and offers real world tools that are easy to utilize and understand. Thank you so much for the work that you do, Sarah! You’ve helped me get my light back after some very dark times, and I would 10/10 recommend this podcast to anyone who wants a few tips on how to improve upon themselves.

    I’m blossoming! 🌱🌷
Sarah May has been the angel on my shoulder for the last couple of months. I appreciate her candidness about her story, it mirrored my own adolescent experience so much. I was able to give myself grace for the ways that I coped before I had the help and the tools. As I healed from the past, and grew more confident in myself. It was truly synchronous to have found this pod. So grateful for this amazing body of work 🫶🏼💗

    Thank you
So clear and helpful I am going thru a beak up after 7 years in a codependent relationship where I am the highly functioning giver - I am sad bc I felt again in a known hole - it’s time to refocus my energies - all the tools are so powerful

    Try listening to random episodes!
A friend recommended this podcast to me. Someone who had gone through a traumatic event. I felt so lost because I was going through a crisis and my therapist was terrible at giving me tools aside from once a week talk therapy. I needed TOOLS. Tools to think about through the week and work through. I love how she has so many tools since there are multiple ways to tackle an issue. If you’re a newfound journaler and don’t know what to write, she suggest new journal prompts for tools also. I’ve even found episodes that I don’t relate to interesting. It’s really about reframing your mind and we don’t know how to do it usually without the help of another. She teaches you to get out of a thought loop and I am forever grateful for the podcast.

    Women in Business
As a female entrepreneur I always love to hear others takes on the entire aspect that we go through and what we need in order to succeed. You spoke of taking the time to really think about what’s in the best interest of ourselves and or business and I think it’s so important that we don’t jump the gun but to think of how it can bring us abundance!

    Narrow point of view
There was some stuff that was good but this is clearly only one persons limited view and not helpful (or empathetic) to people from a different background, race, age, social status…. Etc.. (just one opinion)

    Practical exercises for tough times
Super love this podcast. There’s been an episode for every time I’ve needed help but didn’t know who to talk to. I use it in addition to therapy but sometimes the exercises from the podcast are just so helpful. Thank you!

    Good content, but….
Good content but the audio is just impossible for anyone with sensory issues. The audio is just so harsh and the popping is way too much. I really wanted to listen to this, too…

    Excellent Insight Tools, and Delivery!
I strongly encourage any self-help gurus or those diving into listening to podcasts. The delivery on her podcasts are awesome, they relate to normal day to day feelings, interactions and topics. I never listened to a podcast like this one and cannot wait to listen to all of her episodes, and then again! I have saved many to my favorites. Give it a whirl, you won’t be disappointed.

    Transformational
This show has changed my perspective on so many things, in SUCH an impactful way. Episode 193 has been one of the most transformational episodes, as it collided with me in exactly the right moment. Thank you for this podcast!!!

    Game changer
After many years of therapy and trying 12 step programs, I am finally able to frame things in a wholly accessible way thanks to Sarah. Her straight forward, positive language and applicable (to me) topics have really helped me turn many things around. THANK YOU!

    Smack…Like…Like…smack Like……
If you have misophonia, do not even try this podcast because the smacking at each pause will electrocute you. Or like if you dislike hearing “like” way, way, way, way too much!

    My fav podcast
Just found this podcast and I’m obsessed! literally the most relevant episodes I find myself saving almost every single one. As someone who suffers from anxiety and feeling discontent with negative thoughts , a lot of these episodes are helpful in putting things into perspective

Thank you Sarah, from the bottom of my heart.
I’m not a reviewer - so take this on its face as an accolade. I recently discovered your podcast and lately I listen to every episode at least 3 times. I feel like you are speaking directly to me. Thank you, I have yet to find a therapist who has resonated the way your podcast has, so thank you again.

    Helpful, Soothing, Awesome
This podcast is so very helpful to me. Sarah’s voice is so soothing and the way she addresses topics really works for me. Even if I am scared to deal with the issue the way she presents it is so non-threatening that I actually believe in my own ability to some day handle said issue! Listening to her episodes are the opposite of triggering. I hope what I am writing makes sense. Sarah thank you, thank you.

Helpful Sometimes But Probably Not for Someone Like Me
Some things are helpful, but sometimes I feel like I’m being talked down to, like I’m not capable of some very, very basic emotional strategies. Pretty annoying, but maybe it’s just because this podcast isn’t for someone like me.

    Life-Changing
I was feeling quite down one day and was searching for a podcast to help me. I stumbled upon Sarah and now I cannot find another one like hers. Her voice is so soothing, makes me feel like I am talking to her face to face. She simplifies things and makes me feel like it’s not just me having these thoughts. And an added plus, she gives you tips and tricks to help. I get so excited when there is a new podcast uploaded. I am mentally in a better place now but I still listen to all the new podcasts on a regular basis. Thank you Sarah!!!!!🙏🏼

Sarah is a Mind Reader — she gets it!
Every single episode it’s like she’s reading my mind or that we’ve talked and she’s heard my story. She asked the real questions. You will be challenged to explore yourself emotionally, mentally, and spiritually (if you want to). This podcast is truly a life saver. I’ve gone to previous episodes and listened to them when I need a reminder about a current situation in my life.

Sara is a best friend and aspiritual teacher 🙏🏽
I love this podcast! I came upon it because it was an ad on a TerriCole show…I loved the title and it’s a treasure! your voice is so soothing… But one thing that stood out for me is when you said to take a moment and look at a tree 🌲 or something in nature 🍁 and it helps me feel that glow and sparkle of life just for that moment but it’s so powerful…and I keep going back to it throughout my days.. I’m so grateful for the tools you have given us 💕🕊🙏🏽 May you be blessed to continue shining your light 💕💕🕊🕊💕🕊🕊 Shosh from Israel

    Life Changing!🤩💛
I’m a junior in college & at the end of my sophomore year I hit rock bottom in my life. Like rock bottom, like in the hospital because of a lot of alcohol intake one night. It was very scary and traumatizing night. & I only mention this to give context of where I was at before I started really listening to this podcast. So anyway over this past summer I decided to never be that person. I started making goals & listening to a bunch of self help podcasts. But this one stuck out the most. Not only because of the hosts soothing voice but also because she implements helpful tools and explanations of why topics happen to begin with. Once I started listening I could not stop and haven’t. The knowledge and insight of the host is unmatched. & I just want to say thank you so much Sarah May for truly changing my life & helping me become more of the person I aspire to be every day!☺️💛

Self help for people who hate self help :)
Haha! I saw this podcast in my recommended list and was instantly drawn to the title. Who doesn’t want to be more themselves, especially if they’re like me with full blown imposter syndrome. There is a lot of cringe self help on the internet but Sarah May’s comes at it with a very grounded approach. Super appreciative of this!
