Samlind88Best film podcastThese guys really deliver the goods with the best film podcast out there, been listening to them for years! Supremely entertaining and informative deep dives into great films, film history, filmmakers, and genres. I always learn so much more about some of my favorite films and also on new discoveries of hidden treasures discussed. I can always tell Brandon, Thomas, and David’s passion for film as fellow movie buffs with an insider’s knowledge of the film industry that consistently adds to one terrific episode after another! Treat yourself to even further deep dives with their excellent patreon episodes!

C_PalExcellent podcast but…I have never written a podcast review before, but felt compelled to do so here because this podcast is incredibly well-informed, intelligent, well-researched, entertaining, and discusses a wide array of films from different time periods and genres. However, Thomas (I think it’s Thomas) - and I say this respectfully - has a very annoying verbal tic of saying “is the thing” after almost every sentence, it feels like. This really gets in the way of my enjoyment of the show (and maybe that says more about me than about anyone else). For whatever my opinion is worth, I think this would be a 5-star podcast without “is the thing” plaguing every episode. I will continue to listen, I just have to split the episodes up across several days because whenever I reach my limit of “is the thing” I turn it off. My review is well-intentioned and left in the hopes of being received as equal parts praise and constructive feedback.

NONEEEGreat PodVery engaging and very knowledgeable hosts. I especially like when they dig deeper into the technical aspects (production design, shot framing, etc). One observation is when they “recast” movies they don’t usually consider actors of color for parts that had been played by white actors before and vice versa. Just think more broadly. Great pod. Keep them coming

eheck166Such informative and entertaining podcasts!I absolutely loved listening to all of the Cinenation’s vast collection of podcasts. Brandon and his other collaborators are full of movie knowledge, and truly make the movies come to life, for those who have seen the featured movies more than once to those who have never seen them before. Highly recommend Cinenation to others! You will laugh and even cry at the amazing, colorful, educated commentary!

GCS1978Love this podcast!I’ve been listening to the show for a long time now, and every week I’m excited for a new episode. I love how Brandon and Thomas discuss the history of film, while providing their own views on why it is worth seeing and why the genre is important. I also love the addition of David as a co-host whenever he is on. All three provide a lot of great information. I am also enjoying the monthly Patreon episodes. I’ve learned so much about some of my favorite movies over the years from them. They put some much time and effort into every episode. Great job guys! Keep up the good work.

AgtDCooperMore podcasts like this pleaseI’ve been following this podcast for a few years and it’s great hearing people talk about movies this way. They take the time to do some really great research and have interesting opinions on genres and tropes. Less about sensational hot takes and more authentic interpretations of the good and the bad about movie making, from two people who clearly love film as an art form.

BravadopaintThe Mind-Boggling story of “Boggy Creek”Great episode. Very informative regarding the film’s colorful background history. 🎬 I suggest that someone make a film called “The Legend of How They Made, ‘The Legend of Boggy Creek’ “

Pazu7Fun and informativeHey guys. Nice podcast. Just found you while doing a search on West side story which I am looking forward to in December. Five stars even on a first listen. Fun and informative. One thing I didn’t hear you mention in trivia is that the reason Tucker Smith sang Cool, is because the placement of the song was changed for the film. In the original play Cool was set before the rumble, where Officer Krupke is now. In the film it’s after the rumble, therefore Riff could not have sang it because he was already deceased. This placement was so effective that it affected mini stage productions afterwards, in which the song cool was performed after the rumble. Anyway, I will be checking out your earlier episodes and there’s quite a few to listen to. Thanks

dgfunnymonkeyGreat podcast for film buffsThis podcast is awesome! They do monthly deep dives into different genres throughout film history. Both hosts are highly knowledgeable and excellent speakers. The show is well produced and easy listening. My favorite episodes are the director ones that round out the month, where they go through the life and filmography of a director who’s made great waves in that month’s genre. Always end up adding some films to my watchlist. Highly recommend!

Nona_PantiesEducationalThis podcast feels a bit more like sitting in a film class that you opted in for because you wanted to learn more about films, film style, genres, directors, actors, etc. Informative, cool, and easy to digest. I love the little random tidbits in them and you definitely do learn, so yeah, educational. I personally don’t plan on sitting there and doing all the research on older films and what have you, so listening to this podcast is a great way to really get your film fix. It’s not just focused on older films but a great variety. Well done!

tms245GrowthReally great to see how much this podcast has grown and changed from episode 1 to the current episodes! Keep up the great work!

YouthanaSuxEarnest Film ConversationsA rare opportunity to get some real, earnest and unpretentious thoughts on films and topics that the CineNation guys genuinely have love for. Each episode, they talk about films with similar themes and pitch each other on the ones they think the others should see. Personally, I'd like for there to be more fighting and bloodshed, but to each his own :) Keep it up guys!

ELdizzle4shizzleFilm culture inside and outI drive for a living so I depend on my pods to keep me entertained and (also crucially) awake. Cinenation delivers both for me in spades. This is a great listen that alternates between the current pop culture media goings on and behind the scenes production know how. It's a wonderfully informal round table discussion from Brandon and the boys(+girl) thats the kind I really dig. Like hanging out with friends and gabbing while out for a drink. Highly Recommended!!!!

danthenapkinmanThe Perfect PodcastAlways a great listen. The CineNation guys cover a huge variety of topics and often have really cool guests. Really cool that the listeners get to join them on their journey into the entertainment industry.

Your Actor FriendTwo Thumbs Up, Fun and InformativeI came to this podcast from an acting perspective, and it's been really helpful in terms of broadening my knowledge of filmmaking and the industry, as well as making me aware of aspects of the process that I hadn't thought about before. These guys bring such a fresh energy to the topics they discuss, in part because they're younger filmmakers; it's easy to find great interviews with established veterans of the industry, but there's something nice in hearing about what's going on in movies from a new generation of filmmakers. They don't set out to teach, but I've learned a lot about the process of filmmaking since I started listening. Particularly enjoyable are guest interviews, all references to Alabama football, and #Hunter. Everyone on the show is active in some part of the industry and really well-informed, and their passion about filmmaking is contagious. Highly recommend.

Generic College StudentGreat Podcast for Cinefiles and FilmmakersI've been following Ben and Brandon since I found them. It's been a great journey to watch as these guys really step out and tackle some interesting topics(WWE, shared universes, Netflix-they really love talking about Netflix). They've recently been getting into hosting guests on the show and I think I've enjoyed those the most. It's nice to hear some of the lessons I've learned in school/life be reiterated by people experiencing career success, let's me know I'm on the right track. The only criticism I have for this group is to stay focused on the topic at hand when doing group talks and providing more research to back up your views. Some episodes I've listened to don't leave me with any new knowledge or perspective on the topic and I think it stems from either not diving deep enough or just going in circles sharing the same views. Otherwise, great show guys. Look forward to listening to new episodes!
