idk679It’s literally just someone reading news headlinesThe normal episodes are just headline reads. No analysis.

Mikeb928Best source for global politicswhat the title says

J in the USAThe best source for world newsMy favorite show for world news and US foreign policy. Derik’s research and analysis keeps me up with the world in ways no other leftist news outlet does; the breadth of coverage is staggering and impressive. Danny’s contextualization of events through a historical material lens is refreshing and the humor is necessary and appropriately cynical.

RSE*T1/9/2025 EpisodeWhy not make Biden/Trump invest the $3.8 billion + $500 million earmarked for death & endless wars be reinvested in safer LA housing
-
mundane ”the rock” johnsonGreat news, please the ads will pull me out of thisIncredible insight. I know this is the pain of all podcast now is that ads have become standard but it will just lead the medium to crash eventually. Maybe podcasting is not meant to be a full time gig? Or even like a real “revenue stream”?
-
harshnoisedogGreat stuffNews roundup is a must listen every week, and the deep dives are informative and entertaining.
-
mariathecloud10/10Their news segments allow me to keep up with the news sans propaganda and violence porn found in mainstream news outlets and social media coverage. Keeps me offline and still in touch.
-
narysalguodNeeded now more than everLove the show and the perspective

RImailmanI can’t believe what I’m hearingYou’re telling me America is not a superhero out there doing nothing but good? I have to hear more
-
definitelytheonlyWould be betterIf Danny knew how to conduct himself in a less obnoxious manner. Truly embarrassing and makes it seem like he has a very fragile ego
-
kate888888888Prestigehead #1Like Pod Save America but smart and not wrong about literally everything
-
MatushkawayYESI hereby promise to give this podcast $100 if Derek can get through a full news session without saying “yes” or “yeah” before delivering the relevant news. Good luck !
-
Original_OwlCringeSecond hand embarrassed of how far left their take is. And I’m a progressive.
-
Benjamin Swan DoctorExcellentOf the higher quality and most elevated of leftist pods. They like to have fun sometimes, but the meat and potatoes is news wrap ups and scholarly interviews.
-
Jdaddy998Antisemitic, but that’s all the rage these daysI was wondering and worrying how my beloved fellows liberals could become so antisemitic. This is one of the answers. If anyone is interested in high quality reporting on geopolitics. Listen to battle lines by the telegraph. It’s much better and much more nuanced.
-
artsdistrictchicDeeply edifying yet fresh!I discovered this pod from Chapo Trap-house. This pod NEVER dumbs it down. Bleeding edge topics posted at a superhuman pace. Thank you!!
-
Max HumeInteresting idea, unlikable hostBessner is wildly, unnecessarily confrontational with his guests, and the level of smug self-satisfaction he displays is intolerable even for someone who has spent most of his life in academia. I can’t believe anyone would willingly sit down with him for a coffee, much less an entire podcast episode. I rated this two stars because the guest was interesting.
-
Parson GooberAmerican Prestige with David Austin WalshThis bonus episode was incomprehensible to non-scholars! What ever happened to a clear train of thought! Throwing out book titles was of no use to me. Save intense academic arguments for school. Remember the non-specialist!
-
Rj112376One of the best out thereSeriously the best place to get your world news each week.
-
mrakswellLet your guests speak… your grinding axes are tiresome
-
GlaciergruevenThe BestYou guys are The Best 👍🏽
-
CrystalashUneven qualityDepending on the guests and host’s understanding of given topics, the episodes are 80% fluff + 20% substance or the reverse; more of the former.
-
Pete-USNAll snark, no substanceUseful for a view into a far left progressive view of the world, but no actual foreign policy recommendations - just snarky commentary. General viewpoint is everyone is stupid, except for them.
-
brainslikepicklesIf you're a Jew whose ideas would have welcomed the holocaust...sorry, we don't need to listen to you.
-
samb2929I mean, I like the podcastSeems like everything is paywalled except the news segments recently. I used to subscribe, am taking a break from podcast subs currently (had too many, it gets outta control quick). I get that podcasts need to make money sometimes, but now they’re doing paid promotions in the free episodes and it’s a bit icky. Do the subscription model or the ads model, not both… 5 stars though to anyone reading this trying to get the vibe of the show, it’s a great podcast and they put out tons of content. This is just the only place I can leave this feedback for free.
-
CapnSolo86The best foreign policy podcastthese guys know what they’re talking about and are not defense thinktank bozos
-
Christopher & AmyMisinformationLatest episode was complete misinformation/disinformation. Are you going to correct?
-
rawberto2666TopicalWonderfully informed! Dreadfully unfunny tho, especially Bessner.
-
josiehYessssCool show can’t wait for more! Update: TOO MUCH PAYWALLED CONTENT!!
-
keith van hornyWhy is Danny so smugreally want to love the show, but can’t get over how smugly Danny Bessner treats guests, particularly female guests. the guy is convinced of his superior reasoning, often to the detriment of the listener. needs to spend more time listening and less time interrupting and pushing back. I really like Derek a lot though
-
President Of GamingFrustrating paywallI would love to listen to this podcast more but the most interesting episodes are behind their Patreon. I have no problem supporting this podcast at some point but I don’t really feel ready to support a podcast when I only hear 3 minute clips at a time…
-
Chris MobberleyEducationalA excellent source for world history and world affairs with good humor but informative. The substack is a great way to educate yourself about the world.
-
captain fartmanDerek rules, Danny is an idiotDerek actually knows what he’s talking about, Danny always shoots his mouth off. I feel bad for students at UW
-
Oh hellloooOh it’s goodIt is really good. If you like the free stuff, their substack is worth it
-
eyegeeohdeeGreat PodSuper informative podcast. One of my favorites right now when it comes to world news
-
cdobbs7Thorough and thoughtful view of world eventsI am appreciative of the hosts' comprehensive overviews of world events, along with their straight-up-the-line interviews with history and foreign affairs academics.
-
TamatillerWell DoneI want to thank these guys and any crew they have for producing this show. They present so many topics and news events, while always giving context and asking great questions. It’s a really valuable source of discussion on foreign policy and history. They’re not afraid to have fun once in a while too. Thanks again.
-
Guitarplayer >4yrsMake the paywall content the regular contentI’d be a regular listener just make the paywall content the main free content and just play ads
-
Jstr00azExcellentWide-ranging. Latest episode I listened to on Keynes’ General Theory and the guest is terrific. Bessner and Davison know enough to keep the conversation going, but also allow the guest to go deeper into a topic such as describing some of the technical details of the theory. Super smart. I only subscribe to three podcasts, and this is one of them.
-
Herr Professor JGreat podcast on international relationsAmerican Prestige offers an expansive view of international relations from a left-wing perspective. I listen to the News Roundup every week. I was particularly impressed by their thoughtful coverage of the war in the Ukraine, which managed to be both critical of Russia's stated war aims while avoiding the interventionism that has dominated the coverage of the conflict in most Western media outlets. My favorite episodes, though, are the ones in which the hosts discuss the treatment of international politics in pop culture—e.g. the Top Gun episodes featuring Chapo Trap House and the Dune/Star Wars episodes with Daniel Immerwahr. I’m looking forward to hearing more from Danny and Derek in the future.
-
whiteallenFantastic!Much better to listen to on the way to work than NPR
-
