Alexander of iTunesHad a great conversation about doping in sports.I was lucky enough to be a guest on Power Athlete Radio to discuss my latest book, In Defense of Doping. I found Mr. Welbourn to be knowledgeable, engaging, and fair in his approach. This was not a rubber stamp of my philosophy. Nor was it an adversarial debate. We had a fair-minded, conversation about several topics related to the nature of doping in sport. I’ve listened to several other episodes in preparation for my visit. In each I found John to be friendly and knowledgeable while keeping his audience interested. I recommend this podcast to anyone interested in health, wellness, nutrition, and sports.

Union-1FIX YOUR AUDIO!Gentlemen, The information you are sharing is exceptional. But your audio devices or whatever you are recording with is abysmal. I have to go full volume in a quiet room to hear you and your guests. You need to fix this.
-
JC3-Great info, Bad Sound Quality!!I enjoy the info when I can actually hear it.

Neal Thompson FitnessWeekly Go ToCan’t say enough about Power Athlete Podcast. The guests are top notch, the information is always superb and thought provoking. John and Tex bring it each and every episode. Move the Dirt!!

defhalen57Great Programming, Accessible Coaches, Interesting and Entertaining ShowsOver 40 athlete, recovering from a muscle tear, I have had excellent personal conversations with Sam and Tex about nutrition and training. They don’t just tell you what to do, but explain why recommendations are made and the approach behind programming. These are people you will hear on podcasts and they provide a consistent message off line. I am looking forward to Grindstone in the next month when I get cleared. John and Tex have piqued my interest in training again but training less like a meat head football player and more like a pragmatic, evidence based athlete focused on consistent effort and “moving the dirt.”

SdwfliesAll that and a bag of ChipsIf you have a body and a mind this is a podcast for you. John and Tex are your hosts with the mosts (sorry, it rhymed). The topics covered are wide ranging from increasing physical performance to reviews of outstanding 1980s movies! Each episode has the tone of a bunch of friends chewing the fat - laid back yet highly informative and often hilarious! I recommend this podcast highly

FarmerforfitnessStick to FitnessThis podcast was really helpful for me at the beginning of the pandemic. Topics are useful but every episode is turned into complaining about everybody who isn't like John without much critical thinking behind it. There are much better evidence based podcasts that don't waste 30% of the episode on one host's complaints about the world.

Steve LiberatiBest fitness podcast on the market!HUGE fan of the Power Athlete podcast. Been in the fitness game for over the last 20 years or so and learn something new on every episode. John and Tex are both super bright guys and I really enjoy the perspective they share and the guests they interview on the show. Have yet to find a better podcast on fitness and health!

DutchRamboMcClainJrIf the stoics were jacked….If Dutch and Dillion’s bro-shake had a baby… If the Fast Franchise stunts were done 70s style…It trucks were still square body steel… if someone made a Chris Farley clone for Tommy Boy 2… if Tex was tall… if John would repeat the “ing” echo…. Maybe just maybe there would be something more awesome than this podcast. BUT there isn’t, so show your ears some love and check it out.

zigzagzig allahPremier Podcast In Strength & Banter-ing, ing, ingSolid strength and conditioning information, but the real reason I became an avid listener is because if I play it loud enough I can pretend I have friends on my commute, at work, and while squatting alone in my frigid garage. In my leisure time instead of watching the video version I prefer to act out the episodes with my home-made sock puppets of the cast. One is a well worn, but burly wool sock. Another, a bright and obnoxiously colored athletic sock that has since been lost. The last being a baby sock with undisclosed body hair glued to it. And I can’t forget that I start and end each episode by clomping a small boot, I mean hoof, on my desk to bring everything full circle. But in reality, the best takeaways of this show are gleamed from the non-sets & reps conversations along the way. One-liners originated from 80s movies or from piles of dirt, football stories of the rich and (violently) famous, rousing speeches and conversations from incredible guests during their last days on this Earth, and general tenets on how to truly empower your (life) performance are among the many highlights of this show. I believe I speak for all listeners when I say, we thank you. Truly the premier podcast in strength & banter-ing, ing, ing.

IDHunter38Great podcastAwesome film reviews and life insight. I wish I had things like this in my younger years of life when I knew EVERYTHING! GREAT job men, keep it up.

GallantusmcPower Athlete ReviewI’ve been a long time follower from the CFFB days and currently follow the Field Strong program. I love the diversity of topics covered. As a retired Marine I really appreciated the recent episode on veteran suicide (episode 473). Also, at the age of 48, I appreciated episode 474. It’s the way I train, but sometimes its good to have some confirmation. It can be difficult to not go “balls out” every workout like I did at 28 or even 38. Keep up the great work! Mopar

MickJMBest podcast to help you grow.I have no excuse for why I haven't posted a review before because I've been listening since Denny K was on, by the way GFY deadlifts still give me nightmares. This is seriously the greatest podcast to help you grow as an athlete and a person. If you listen then you already know this and if you don't plug in and jump on a program. I personally love Johnnie WOD and BOD but find what fits your goals.
-
#1EGRACEThe premier podcast on strength and conditioningI’m getting older, but my desire to train and stay hard is growing by the day. Sometimes looking in the mirror is not enough to put yourself in check. Jon and Tex along with their world class guests of top performers in many fields are just what you might need to wake up and take your training seriously again. I’m thankful for these guys.I love them like brothers even though we have never met.

Wack-AttackLong time listener and still learningI’ve been listening to podcasts before the world was created flat. Some podcasts I stop listening to, because at some point I know what they are going to say, and frankly they get boring. Not so with these benevolent rockstars. They and their world class guests graciously and continually bequeath knowledge to us and the penguins. You won’t find a better podcast in the realm of strength and conditioning. That is why they can rightfully and honestly call this The Premier Podcast in Strength and Conidtioning (no extra ings in 2021). So stop breaking one of their cardinal rules of life and smash the subscribe button. Then save yourself some time and remove all your other S&C podcasts, because you won't need them and after listening to this podcast and seeing how high John and Tex set the bar you will eventually delete them anyways. Miss you Luke. Byeeeeeeeee

jg2212This podcast will give you priapismIf you know what that is you will love this podcast. If the girl of your dreams lives under your roof but thinks your a dumb jock listen to John and Tex and learn some knowledge bombs . Don’t die with a hard on and learn to live like a farmer not a bartender who hangs with the drunks all night.

honestlyicantthinkofanicknamePremiere podcast in strength and conditioningI’ve never been one to throw down in the pit, but an experience at a recent show two years back caused me to realize that my bean pole like frame was not conducive to long durations of throwing down in the pit. In comes Power Athlete, who’s programming put me in the right direction to take my training to the next level and be prepared for whatever shows come my way post covid. And this podcast is the perfect cherry on top of that programming. Power Athlete Radio is a great resource to not only answer any questions you might have about Power Athlete, but any and all strength and conditioning topics are covered as well. This can include anything from nutrition, to sprint work, periodization, and even the occasional movie recommendation. I highly recommend everybody listens to this podcast.

Kread19Unequaled FeedbackHands down the best feedback I’ve been given from comparable resources. The process began with an in-app question and led to detailed responses from the PA Crew and Dr. Zanis. You guys are definitely appreciated!
-
Original SilkyThe premier podcast in strength and conditioning, ing, ingThese guys are rockstars. Seriously one of my 3 go-to podcasts every week. John, Tex and Luke always bring top notch strength and conditioning knowledge and always in an entertaining way (As I grew up in the same era John did I enjoy his reminiscing about 80s movies as I saw most of the same movies). Great stuff - keep the podcasts coming!

benskutnikIt’s like holidays with the family. What’s the best part about going home for the holidays? Is it hearing your dad (Jean Welbourné) tell you the same story he’s told you a million times? Is it your older sibling (Luke) who still thinks it’s a good idea to pre-game the mid-day festivities despite their handful of alcohol related misdemeanors? What about your younger sibling (Tex) who brings their new “friend” (the week’s guest) and tries to awkwardly carry on conversation amidst all the debauchery? Or maybe it’s the brief phone call from your third sibling (Cali) who is off doing better things with themselves but feels obligated to check-in? Well good news! You don’t have to wait for the once-a-year trek back home to get those same down home feelings. Every week you can experience this same familiarity from the comfort of your home as the Power Athlete Crew brings that same energy week-in and week-out while inadvertently educating you on some of the most important components of optimizing human performance. No, there’s not talk of DMT trips in South America or how to bio-hack your way into a eternity. Just actual information that is useful in your every day life regardless of your walk in life. And movie reviews.

Hank-McCoyFrom Arnold to JohnA garage gym enthusiast. I was in the dark for nearly 20 years reading things like Muscle Fitness and T Nation (with the exception of certain writers like Dan John). I learned more about strength and conditioning from listening to Power Athlete in the last 2 years than I did anything else for the last 20. Now I am able able to put things in my training and actually see the intended results. What a concept. At 6-5 and 300lb… I attribute Power Athlete fo letting me keep up with people half my size in my no contact twice a week flag football league.
-
jayhagzThe premier podcast in strength and conditioning. Ing. Ing.I’ve been listening to powerathlete radio every morning for the last few months on my way to the gym( which is a 45min ride). Love the content and love the jokes and banter even more. Great knowledge bombs dropped and I feel like I’m learning more everyday. Thanks guys!!! Keep it up!! John, Luke and Tex seems like great guys!! Give them a listen !

J. SutcharPA Radio has Become a Must Listen PodcastJohn, Luke, Tex, and Cali do such an amazing job of hosting brilliant guests and covering much more than just performance, psychology, and nutrition. The crew has the unique skill of educating while making you laugh and keeping you engaged each step along the way.

#crossfitdadJUST LISTENIf you want to be a better person, athlete and get a no BS answer to your questions JUST LISTEN. These people are awesome.

PatSloanLife changing podcastI am forever indebted to the Power Athlete podcast for introducing me to the Ben Greenfield podcast.

steven4693Worlds most interesting manPhilosophy, strength and conditioning, old stories, I could literally listen to John welbourne talk about literally anything.
-
Btt45Dr. John Welbourn & the 2 graduate teaching assistantsI have been listening for a couple months and love the content especially the peek behind the curtain of the NFL, CrossFit, CrossFit Football, Power Athlete and all the great training insight. I was a bit on the fence about the length of each episode since it takes about 5 work commute rides to finish an episode but I fell off that fence during episode 378. The episode could be the doctoral thesis of John Welbourn, “Vision Quest: the social impact of sports and movie quotes on the development of the American cultural landscape”. The most in depth analysis of an absolute legend of a movie I have ever heard. The two graduate teaching assistants try to put their own spin on it with a burst of late to the party energy like a new CrossFitter in 2020 when all that was needed to top off the conversation was two slices of pie and a cup of coffee.

BrentliwoodHitting their strideLast few episodes (368-370) have been fantastic. Keep up the quality work.
-
JohnniemagsBromance and The Atlas StoneI have been following and listening to John, Luke, Tex and Cali since the beginning. If you like learning how to train and move properly so that you can perform and feel your best on the field or in your everyday life these guys cover it. Unlike many of the fitness podcasts this crew is well respected and connected with the strength and conditioning field. They weave all this info within the natural camaraderie they have with each other as they crack jokes, quote movies and BS with each other. The combination of the great info and banter makes you want to hang out, bang some weights, run some sprints and have a good time with your friends. Enjoy!
-
Mom✨Book✨JunkieGreat podcastGreat podcast. Advice on all sorts of topics, from movies, grilling, and old square body trucks. I think one of them used to play football to.
-
thinbluedonutsLove itThanks for the great information and entertainment.

GlennnW35Excellent PodcastEvery episode is entertaining and I hope they make this for another 370 episodes.

Iron Cowboy CFMissed opportunitiesThis podcast has been on the top of my list for sometime. John, and the crew always spin up some very impressive guests that I enjoy hearing from. The power athlete crew is also filled with knowledge. Sometimes much of it pointless banter and inside jokes, but if you listen to more than one episode you will slowly feel yourself succumbing to the casual conversation of the power athlete crew. The crew frequently highlights or quotes movies. I have to say, I’m extremely disappointed they didn’t capitalize on the opportunity to bring up Ricky Bobby riding in the front seat of a car with a cougar in the passenger seat on the latest episode with Tony Blauer. That’s why I gave a 4 star review. With that being said, if you are reading this do not miss your opportunity to listen, and learn from great guys and guests!

icallgameStop playing yourselfJust like Ben Greenfield. Except not full of bio hacking horse manure. Instead packed with actionable advice, one liners, and movie banter.

Dorkvest 5000If Christian Slater and The Rock had a love child...If you like looking good naked, eating semi clean, and expanding your Steven Segal trivia knowledge then this is the podcast for you. There are two types of millennials in this world, those that got down with Limp Bizkit and liars. I know Luke, Tex and Cali fall firmly with the former. John, like a french version of the Oracle at Delphi, bestows upon us his unmatched knowledge of calf raises and rhetoric. Truly premier.
-
Fire_ByrdPremier of the Premier Podcasts in Strength and ConditioningRegular guest of the show John and hosts Luke and Tex mix it up to address all things a consumer of red meat and information could ask for when looking for gainz and brainz in everything from slamming iron to creating a chainmail cloak for your mind to be more resilient than zombies. If you are looking for ELITE, look no further! If you are looking for PREMIER amongst their peers of PREMIER strength and conditioning podcasts, look no further. If you are looking for movie quotes and references understood by millenials, look elsewhere. But if you dig the classics, the basics, the chucks, the vans, the squats, the power cleans, getting one foot off the ground, and general appreciation for sarcasm, tomfoolery and ball busting, subscribe and tune in on the reg for far fewer run on sentences than this -ing -ing -ing...
-
Jacques MoorecockPremieringA shorter/stockier Vince Vaughn, a very hairy cybernetic organism, and an ape in man suit discuss squats, beef, and obscure late 80’s/early 90’s action films. 5 stars.

BryceD18Only double clutching. No granny shifting.Produced by a police officer with 16 cats, this show follows the antics of a Cal Berkeley grad, a high school state champ, and a guy who wears ladies’ boat shoes. Their order is strength and conditioning and The Fast & The Furious...and The Fast & The Furious They’re not afraid to charge it to the Underhills, either. Seriously great show. Best part is the non formulaic approach to interviewing guests. Wide variety of guests and hosts are not afraid to ask challenging questions. Between John the Philospher, Luke Earl Spilner, and Tex the Robot, you can expect a great show every week.
-
Nathan LukeEat the WeakI’m the type of guy who likes to show up late to the party. In fact, I show up so late that the hosts are looking at me like “what the hell are you doing here? The party ended a few years ago.” Well, that’s what happened here anyways. I stumbled upon Power Athlete after searching for a good blend of strength and CrossFit (community fitness?) style metcons. Yeah, I found CrossFit football, kind of. See, CrossFit football had been gone for a few years and all I could find was a spreadsheet of some of the old workouts. I rocked those for several months and continued researching the evil genius behind the workouts. Short story long, I started listening to Power Athlete Radio around 2 years ago and it’s been a bromance ever since. This podcast is a great blend of knowledge and entertainment. So sit back, expand your mind and enjoy the laughs (at least an audible exhale through the nostrils).

Pete MesserMovie review Podcast with special guests to talk about strengthStarted listening to this after Luke and Tex were on OPP years ago. How many years ago you ask? Long enough that I don’t even remember what podcast it was, but I went and found Power Athlete and never looked back. Are 80s action flicks your ideal genre of documentary viewing? Then these are the dudes for you. Do you like hearing nostalgic stories of playing in the NFL and the shenanigans that go along with it? These are the dudes for you. Most importantly, do you like burning your friends with the same 3 jokes day after day, year after year, and it never gets old? You’ll fit right in. Oh, and they are the premier podcast in strength and conditioning-ing-ing. So if getting yourself, or your community, jacked and fast af is what you find poppin- THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU.
-
Alex.Ross5 Stars for 3 RockstarsA trio of rockstars and a special guest will bring you closer to enlightenment every single week with their profound knowledge of strength and conditioning (ing...ing...) Well, two rockstars and a robot with no sense of comedic timing who has a particular fondness for wearing women's boat shoes. Just kidding, Tex. You're a rockstar to me and you have the most magnificent hair I've ever seen. Also, he's single, ladies. Honestly, if this podcast was just two hours of John sitting by himself, bashing vegans I'd probably still listen to it. But it's so much more than that. Amazing guests, great movie banter, high-quality schtick, ultra-accurate local weather reporting. The guests are extremely diverse from professional athletes to neuroscientists to DJs. The crew are skilled interviewers and they keep the conversations dynamic, interesting, and funny. There are no biohacks. No special super-secret shortcuts. This is real stuff based on evidence and experience for those interested in improving athletic performance and development. This podcast is occasionally hilarious so be mindful of where you are while you're listening to it. Otherwise, you may find yourself bursting out in uncontrollable laughter in potentially inappropriate settings...

MOmadeTXpaidEat the HammerWithout a doubt, this is the best podcast when you want to listen to sick bantz, reliving glory days (tribals bro), robot cohosts, and a talkative recurring French guest. If you need action movie reviews, this is the three hour podcast for you. If you need actual advice about health and fitness, there isn’t a podcast out there with a collection of knowledgeable guests. GET IT.
-
Thomas KeatingPremier Podcast in Strength AND Conditioning-ing-ingThis podcast is fantastic. Shirk your responsibilities, call in sick to work, stay up late at night, do whatever you have to to listen to this. If you want to laugh a lot, this is the podcast for you. If you want to listen to banter about action movies from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and today this is the podcast for you. If you like deep, cerebral discussions and constant quotes from the documentary series “The Fast and the Furious” this is the podcast for you. If you want updates about the weather in Austin, TX, if you want to know whether the earth is round or flat (hint: it’s flat) or about any other number of topics (including vegan diets, regenerative agriculture, who would play these guys in the movie of their lives, or which one of them is the penguin) then this is the podcast for you! If you want a podcast about strength and conditioning-ing-ing, this is also the podcast for you! The litany of amazing guests on this podcast keeps growing, and you’ll be doing yourself a favor to LISTEN TO EVERY EPISODE! So what are you waiting for??? GET AFTER IT!

HerndonRustyS&C with a little humor and a dash of rehabGreat content, good humor with a ton of practical advice. Solid mix of the nerdy research applicable in both S&C as well as the rehab/PT world.
