    Bias?
I don’t know if this could be called reporting. At least not in a professional way. I ‘m not that intetested in hearing how hard it was for the interviewer or that she felt like throwing up. There were times that the interviewer and her experience and opinions was the story - not the people she was reporting on. Wish she would step back and stick to reporting on the events - her drama and emotions seem out of place for one that wasn’t a part of it.

    Loved this program
Well done always. I loved this last series about unmarked graves. Profound.

    Unmarked Graveyard
I’m sad that the Unmarked Graveyard series has ended. It is a deeply engaging series that looked at the lives of the anonymous people who surround us and reminds us that we are all only a heartbeat away from becoming an unknown, anonymous body in the eyes of authorities—lost with no past and buried in an unmarked mass grave, little more than biological waste. I genuinely wish the series would continue restoring names and lives to the dead by telling their stories.

    Love radio diaries
I love the podcast I subscribed to, Radio Diaries. But I really don’t love when shows lend their feeds to other shows and suddenly I’m subscribed to and downloading a show I didn’t choose. I get highlighting another show here and there, sharing an episode, etc, but doing this feed swap thing where now this is an entirely different show automatically downloading into my device feels like a bait and switch.

    Food for Thought
New York may as well be on another continent from what little I know about it but this podcast peaked my interest with its stories of forgotten people buried on an island in a pauper’s cemetery. Imagine one twist of fate and you end up here where, perhaps, no one knows what happened to you or no one knows who you were in life. Thought provoking.

    Quarantine
I started radio diaries last week from the beginning and have loved every moment of it. I have gotten to the quarantine episodes and I just remember living with my ex and his family. We saved for a house, broke up a month before quarantine and got Stuck. I’m glad that others had better experiences 🖤

Would be 5 stars if not for repeats
Many of the same episodes over and over and over. I could live with that if they warned you in the title when an episode is a rerun. (Many podcasts are HONEST and label their repeats.) They even CHANGE THE TITLE sometimes so I can’t even rely on scanning the titles of episodes I’ve already listened to in order to determine if one is a repeat!

    Laugh, Cry, Repeat
I love Radio Diaries but one episode really struck me. I just listened to the episode from April 30, 2021 ‘25 Years of Radio Diaries’ (with Amanda from Teenage Diaries) and I just want to say: I want to be the kind of parent that Amanda’s parents are. I cried all the tears; happy, sad, relief, joy. It was a beautiful episode with two “all loving all the time”parents and their brave beautiful daughter. ❤️ Thank you Radio Diaries.

    Always Interesting
I always learn something from this podcast. I especially like the way Joe Richmond gets out of the way and lets the people he’s interviewing do the talking, yet the interviews are poignant and Concise

    Great stories!… again and again…
I absolutely love the stories told here, the quality is unmatched. But to listen to this podcast in a sequential order is beyond painful with how often the stories are repeated. I don’t come to a podcast for reruns. If you don’t have new content you don’t have to post old content just to fill your feed.

Same stories recycled over and over again…
This past week I binged all 160+ episodes. At first I really enjoyed all the stories, but then after a while I started noticing that they just keep recycling the same 20-25 stories over and over again. How many times do we have to hear “Amy‘s Diary“? How many times are you going to replay Studs Terkel’s interviews? How many different ways can you re-edit Nelson Mandela‘s audio documentary trying to pass it off as a new episode (when really it’s just a re-edited version of the old one?) This podcast was really good at first, but it seems like they are out of fresh material and are resorting to just recycling and repackaging older episodes over and over again. You get maybe 1-2 new stories a year, the rest is just filler recycled episodes.

Beautiful - Please make longer ones!
Honest, beautiful, thoughtful - the diaries episodes are gorgeously narrated, the archival episodes powerfully edited. This show is time capsules and affective oral histories. You will never be disappointed. My only criticism is that I wish the episodes were longer.

    Love the stories
Would be a 5 star rating if you weren’t constantly replaying the same episodes. That’s confusing and irritating. At least preface the episode by saying “this is a re-run” outloud. I just let my podcasts play while working so I don’t see the titles.

    Fever!
Love at first quarantine was a perfect little pod. The duet at the end was sweet.

Great, informative and to the point.
I love interesting podcasts and storytelling. This is a great way to enjoy both and learn a little history and interesting facts. They get to the point. They don’t talk about themselves or off-topic subjects. I really enjoy this podcast!!

    The Same 8 Stories
This has great content and I’ve learned a lot about people I wouldn’t have otherwise heard their stories. But three years in I think I’ve heard the same 8 episodes at least a dozen times. If you want to continue to be relevant, you should continue to produce new content. I’m done.
  • hdkdbhxijrn
The content is great, but I’m sick of the re-runs.
While I enjoy the stories, this show continually recycles content, which discourages long-term listening. Occasionally they will preface the title with “revisited”, but sometimes they won’t. For instance, they aired “The Working Tapes” twice within six months and it wasn’t even the first time.

    Great voices and stories.

    Super Interesting
This podcast is really great at getting a look into things I would have never really thought about before. I heavily enjoyed their Prison Guards episode. It felt real and raw, but the sound effects and transitions made it super entertaining and I didn’t feel like it dragged on too long. The information felt legitimate, and after looking into the subject after hearing the episode, everything matched up. This podcast definitely has a new listener, I’m really happy I was introduced to it!

    Amazing podcast
This podcast is very educational and gives the view of what is like to a correctional officer, it also gives you an idea of what happens with a new correctional officer. It will also show you don’t need any other law enforcement past to become a correctional officer. It has shown it has given up to date information with new training course for officers. It was very entertaining and completely deserves five stars!
  • ojedalaura
    Great Podcast!
This podcast is very interesting and entertaining because it sheds light on the lives and experiences of correctional officers. This podcast is perfect for a group of people interested in the academics of correctional institutions or for anyone else who is interested in knowing more about the correctional system because it is very reliable and gives accurate information.

    Awesome
I listed to the prison guard diary podcast and it was extremely well made. Listening to the experiences that the prison officers and what they are thinking about as something happens is very creative and a great way to really know and learn about their jobs. This is definitely a good podcast to listen to if you want to be involved in anyway or work in a prison.

    Please Improve Titles
I absolutely love this podcast and all of the interesting stories you share I really wish though, that you would make more of an effort to make it clear in either the title or description that an episode is a reupload. I got so excited that the 4/2/19 upload was a NEW working tapes and was a little disappointed that it was not. All it would take is a “rebroadcast” I the title or description

    Could have been good
Definitely could have been good if the hosts didn’t approach every topic with their SJW crap.

    Wow
History and information nerds unite! Even if you aren’t someone who loves to muse over minutia, you will be awed at some of these fantastic tidbits. Nothing is long enough that you have to find time to fit it into your day. Just perfect!

Well written excellent snapshots of people and history
Listen to the Nelson Mandela at 100 episode and that should be enough to convince you. I've listened to Radio Diaries for years and always found the episodes are illuminating and worth waiting for.

    History made personal
The best way to hear about life... from those living it. We’ve all got a story to tell.

    Must listen
Intriguing human interest stories from the voices of the actors of the event themselves. Fantastically edited and well told, this podcast is a must listen.

    A vital, essential podcast
I’m a long-time subscriber to and fan of Radio Diaries But I want to single out the recent update to “Juan’s teenage diary” which was both heart warming and heart breaking. I only wish that anyone who feels threatened by immigration or rails against undocumented immigrants could hear this. Thank you Joe Richman for your great skill, your vision and your compassion.

    Terrific, very interesting podcast.

WOW, thanks for making such a beautiful insightful podcast
Just heard the last episode on Mexico 1968 and the students massacre. The world isn't fair. We are the only ones that can change it, though if the ones in power don't want to liberate the power, if the people are uneducated, you can create an emprie without pushing. Stories packed with history can teach us so much of our own failures and learn to change the future.
  • Hungry Podcast
    The MVP of modern storytelling.
Radio Diaries is on a shortlist of shows that inspired me to become an audio producer with my own podcast a couple years ago. While so many podcasts are deeply effective, there are a few shows from Radio Diaries that I think about on a daily basis. Whenever I am frustrated making an epiosde or question whether what I'm doing could effect change, I have a note on my bulletin board that says "Listen to Radio Diaries." By it's nature, Radio Diaries is raw, unadulterated storytelling. In a world where NPR and big producers have reigned supreme, Radio Diaries is affirmation that we are all capable of being storytellers - everyone has a voice and everyone can be part of this weird radio world. The production is so simply good and the vision of the show shines through in every single episode, without fail. Intensely beautiful show that everyone should be listening to, especially in times when you need a reminder that your story matters. Thanks for all the inspiration. Much love - the Hungry podcast

Ok when it's not about politics
Good podcast when dealing with issues other than politics. On political issue you are better off to delete that episode. Liberal crap.

    Amazing
This is one of the best podcasts. The hosts voice is so good and the way each episode is put together is excellent.
