Excellent content and analysis; Cringey speech habits.
Heard Josh on the MeidasTouch podcast this week and was impressed, so I’m listening to the JM Podcast for the first time. Great insights on politics. Impressed with the level of knowledge you have. And I’m not hearing the same things over and over again like I hear on MSNBC and CNN. But the thing that really bugs me is when you speak (and mostly Kate) keeps saying “Right?” After many statements. It sounds stupid and juvenile. It makes me cringe. You’re probably thinking, “Well that’s petty.” Maybe, but you’re journalists and broadcasters. Don’t you want to avoid speaking in ways that elevate you instead of distract and makes listeners cringe? I’ve noticed that people on MSNBC say “Right?” A lot too. It makes me want to scream.

    The speech, etc
I didn’t watch the speech either and can’t really tolerate his voice or image ever

    Thank you
In addition to your intelligent insights today, the uplifting thoughts from you and Kate give some balance to an otherwise completely out of balance period in our country.

    Get a grip.
Laughing hysterically while you’re telling the story of Noem killing the animals is uncool.

    Keep Josh, lose Kate
Josh’s insights and sonorous voice are fantastic to listen to. Then Kate comes in with every vocal irritant known to our culture, and I turn off the episode. her voice is impossible to listen to; Josh, please get a new cohost.

Kate Riga is amazing Josh Marshall is not
Kate brings thoughtful solid analysis to the show. Josh on the other hand rambles on and on and on, is often incoherent, and seems to love the sound of his own voice. I often just fast forward when Josh is talking.

    Informative
I really get a lot out their insights into what’s going on in politics. Kate is especially astute and also funny. The only suggestion I have for improvement is to acquire an editor. Sometimes the content is repetitive.

    Oh so clever
Snarky, too cool to care, self-satisfied. And I agree with TPM’s politics. I might become a MAGA drone if I keep listening to this grating nonsense.

    Why I am unsubscribing
Kate has a voice for print media. Sorry but you oughta know.

    Love TPM
Josh & Kate analyze the current legislative and legal policy fights, as well as the political landscape in a unique and interesting manner. I listen every week. (… also read TPM regularly)

    June 28 - Thank You
Thank you for your sobering discussion about the Biden debate last night. Unlike a lot of other people in your field, you were not hysterical and I appreciate that. You’re both excellent journalists and podcasters.

    Best episode ever

Great pod but Josh acts like a child online
I love Kate but it’s hard for me to listen now. Josh is on X formally known as twitter acting like a baby around people that care about Palestine and Gaza. Just poor poor gross behavior and responses. Kate is great though.

    One of my favorite podcasts
I look forward to listening to Josh and Kate and their analysis of all the political news of the week. I chuckle every time I hear the two of them saying “blah blah blah”. They and TPM are the best!

Wow! Just WOW! Great discussion, need to listen several more times, how about you three get together to continue it every month or so?

Give Belaboring the Point Its Own Feed
I enjoy listening to the Josh Marshall Podcast, but Belaboring the Point hasn’t clicked with me. I enjoy deep dives into subjects, but the format needs work. Kate discussing the interview before the listener hears it detracts from the interview rather than enhances it. Just let us listen to the interview and then you can have a dialogue with your cohost about it after we’ve listened. The current format isn’t helpful because it either makes portions of the pod redundant or the listener begins the episode feeling like they missed part of a conversation. Give the new pod its own feed so we can decide if we want to subscribe or give it a break until you come up with a new format.

    An essential and accessible podcast
Josh and Kate are two of the best explainers of current events today. Between the podcast and the daily updates on the TPM website, I get all the news I need and it’s explained clearly and concisely.

    An essential weekly listen!
I've been reading Josh Marshall and TPM since the early 2000s, and as a longtime fan this podcast is a real treat. Josh and the wonderful Kate Riga deliver outstanding commentary and reporting every week. Informative, insightful, and accessible - like you're having a great conversation with some very well-informed friends. I love the interplay of perspectives, Josh’s excellent analysis, and Kate’s terrific reporting. I haven't missed an episode in years.

TPM & Josh are the best
I have been a Josh Marshall fan since the Bush US Attorneys purge. I remember Josh TV. This show is the best of the bunch. I love the dynamic of the generational age difference between Josh & Kate. Being closer to Josh’s age, I get all his cultural and lived experience references. But it is great to hear Kate’s reactions and having her perspective add to the conversation. Great show
  • Roboberk
    Great podcast but very dry
Really enjoy Josh’s insights - he’s a great Twitter follow - but every episode feels like a long monologue. Would be much better if there was actual conversation and not just Josh pontificating.
  • Paul is dead
In its best era! All time favorite
I've loved the podcast for a few years but now that it's just Kate and Josh they've really hit a great stride! Can't recommend enough
  • khrissbliss
    a real favorite
this show has really grown on me. There is one episode with Adam Davidson I've re-listened to 20 X about Trump's real estate deals. Josh is a thoughtful communicator -so yes it's ok to listen on 1.25X - but his real talent is contextialize with wisdom. So for example, I heard about Lance Gooden tweeting that he met with DeSantis then endorsed Trump. I heard about the billionaire telling the newspapers they were keeping their donor powder dry on DeSantis But Josh articulated just how unusual these events were. So he has a keen insight about how things play out, & what antecedents cause what events. Josh is very much a non-bland non-fluff commentator. Wish he did this podcast daily

    Always the best.
I’m a longtime fan of Josh Marshall and TPM - long before there was a podcast. But the addition of Kate Riga gives an effervescence to these discussions. They are both great analysts and it is wonderful to hear them work thorny issues through together. Always a pleasure!

    My Favorite Political/News Podcast!
This is the first podcast I listen to immediately when it drops. I love the brilliant analysis and in-depth discussions. Plus Josh has an amazing voice and the theme music is the grooviest!

    Man, do you stop blabbering?
Good points, decent analysis, etc. but I have only so many hours in my day and there is plenty of good analysis out there in tighter format. Thanks and best of luck!

If you’re tired of the BS…
Josh, Kate & TPM offer a steady stream of excellent journalism, brilliant analysis and buckets of experience to provide context, nuance & the bigger picture. This is my go to for understanding what’s really going on.

Re GOP Attitude Change on Testing
Thinking that the prospect of tens of thousands of dead Republican voters in tight states between now and 2022 is scaring them. They may even believe they lost in 20 because of negative COVID-19 perceptions and deaths in places like GA and AZ.

    Appointment listening every week
So it’s Biden’s 100th day in office, and the show is now hosted by Josh and Kate. They make a wonderful pair! Kate is clearly a voracious reader of recent history with a keen mind for current events, which she covers at TPM. This millennial from the young end of the bracket is an excellent pairing with Josh Marshall, veteran writer and editor as well as founder of TPM. Josh is an older Gen Xer who is about 20-25 years away from aging into William Holden from “Network.” His site has done dogged reporting and solid work for a long time. I honestly wish he’d prioritize the pod over Twitter, but even at its usual once a week this is a wonderful news roundup, usually focused on a few big ongoing stories and presented with commentary. Any news junkies looking for a pod with feature reporting on the news of the week should give this a listen!

The show is really starting to hit its stride
I panned the show in an earlier review, maybe that was unfair because it was still a very new podcast at the time. It’s still a young show but it’s improved quite a bit over the last 6 months. Instead of recapping a lot of stories (which you can find virtually everywhere) they are lately making in-depth analysis of a few particularly interesting stories or trend lines. This is really what TPM does best, on the podcast and on the website: provide analysis. Josh Marshall is able to bring a long term perspective and overview. The younger members all write for the website as well, and often have the most in-depth reporting to share. I also like that while the show is mostly pretty serious, the delivery is calm, and it’s not stressful to listen. I absolutely love Rachel Maddow but sometimes her show can feel a little bit like rage bait. I don’t get that feeling from this show, even though both shows have similar points of view, and obviously cover some of the same topics. It’s measured and thoughtful.

    A-Talkin' points memo's A GAS GAS GAS!
YO! I like Josh Marshall and I’m here to say/I like the funky podcast in a major way/ WORD UP!
  • TheCurriers
    Just edges into 5 ★’s
Yeah, it could be tighter. And Marshall is a bit of a meanderer. But this is sharp, clear thinking that never loses sight of the truth. And it’s friendly and fun—nearly snark-free! Which is refreshing and much needed
  • VeganRN
Good show for Republicans who are thinking of voting for Biden!!
If you LOVE to bag on the “straight, white” Bernie every chance you get and you just CAN NOT WAIT to get Joe in the White House, then this is the podcast for you!!
  • YossarianLives
    Could be improved
I’m a prime subscriber and longtime reader of TPM. But I have to say this podcast has been disappointing. It turns out you can’t just put three smart articulate people in a room and have them talk about the week’s news with a plan or the outlines of a script. Ironically I constantly find the hosts forgetting or misstating some arcane fact about a news event which I learned by reading their own coverage on TPM. I’ve unsubscribed for now. May check back in after the primaries start.

    Josh Marshall Show
Josh is hard headed and clear thinking. A delightful experience to hear him. The rapid speech and rapid give and take is far too fast to follow. The pacing seems like Josh’s interlocutors are trying to impress him with rapid give and take and it sounds like listening to an inside and private conversation that forgets there’s an audience. Do you really want other people to listen and follow? If so then slow the hell down.
