    Bathroom sound quality
Love to follow the show some of the episodes sound like they were recorded in a latrine in a 1970s submarine better microphones would make the show absolutely perfect

    VDH is my favorite podcast!
I have been listening to VDH podcasts for about a year now. Is analysis of news and culture is second to none! I suggest that sometime VDH interviews Jeff Shaara. I love both men's books. They both are historians and each uniquely tells stories to their readers that are engaging and intriguing.

    Always entertaining
Whether is ancient history, movie favorites or current politics VDH is always full of anecdotes and educational. Much better episodes with Sami as she obviously has a much better grasp of events and people from Ancient Greece. I especially like hearing about VDH’s roots and ancestors. His farm tales are equally entertaining and highlight how hard farmers must work to provide the rest of America with their foods. But jack Fowler’s heavy breathing, sighing and shuffling is VERY distracting.

    Outstanding logic
Have been lessening for most of the year to your logic. This comparison to most of my 7 decades of learning what logic means. The country was tied up in knots with disfunction and you help take out the knots! Others in history have done as well, one can list names, I don’t know. Like Rush.. William B. Just a few but need not go on. The key point here is it had been said , If one doesn’t learn from history then is condemned to repeat it! Or something like that. This is one was enjoyed and had me laughing! You are a part it the anti venom of the past 25 years. MAGA🇺🇸 Grateful for you just being you Merry Christmas 🎄 Best Regards

    Great show!
Great show with Devin Numes. More shows like this with Victor as the host are on my Christmas list. Always enjoy Victor’s analysis.

    VDH Great; too many commercials
Way too many commercials. Pro tip: hit the skip button 12 times at the beginning of the show and you get right to the good stuff.

    Not too shabby
Mr. Jack Fowler, please don’t be so hard on yourself. You are not so shabby. I enjoy the back and forth with you and Prof.Hanson. Always looking forward to VDH’s wisdom every week!

Mr Fowler making it hard to listen
12/14/24 Jack's antics get fouler and fouler. He's manages to make Professor Hanson's otherwise superb podcast unbearable. The superfluous interjections ("yeah," "right," "oh yeah!" etc.) disrupt and throw spanners into the poetry and logic of VDH's delivery. The obsequious giggling; the chortling; the garrulous prompts; the sound of heavy breathing: make it stop! Perhaps his voice would be less grating if half the recording did not consist of Fowler wheezing through interminable ads with irksome intonation and insufferable inflection. Businesses should insist on a non-grating voice talent for the ads they pay for. 12/3/24 I may need to limit listening to weekend editions w Sami. Jack Fowler is a smart, talented writer with many gifts. Serving as co-host to the great VDH, however, is not his forte, in my opinion. His monosyllabic interjections -- e.g., "yeah"; "heh heh heh heh"; "ug"; "right"; "right"; "right"; &c. --are quite disruptive. He must be unaware that he's ruining the rhythm of Prof Hanson's expositions, and thereby spoiling the listening experience. How disappointing and unpleasant it is to hear VDH's mellifluous commentary so frequently pillaged by meaningless exclamations. The long prompts preceding each topic seem to grow ever longer. Why not just say something like, "Please tell us your thoughts about _____." No one needs the interminable introductions and explanations. I get the sense from other reviews that my irritation w JF is shared by many. These problems are easily remedied. I hope Mr Fowler will heed the suggestions of many reviewers and curtail his commentary to let the professor speak! 11/26 I know a lot of reviewers complain about Mr. Fowler's garrulousness, but I will not mention that in a review, as it would be disrespectful to a fine intellect and writer. (Practicing my rhetorical devices, haha) 2) Jack Fowler (10/17/24 show) referenced a hearing in the appeal of New York's property-appraisal case against President Trump. Mr. Fowler said the hearing took place in the "high court" of New York. If he's referring to the hearing on Sept 24, 2024, he's mistaken. That hearing took place in the Appellate Division, which is the mid-level appellate court. The "high court" in New York is the Court of Appeals. (For reasons too tedious to explain, the trial court, the lowest level in the hierarchy, is called, absurdly, in my view, the "Supreme Court.")

    Simply The Best
Listen every day. There is no one smarter, better informed, more articulate than Victor Davis Hanson. And his delivery is so mild mannered and calm. He’s like butter for the soul. Long live VDH

    Millennial who loves the show
As a millennial, I love this show. Eor has such a brilliant mind and can break down complex topics so well! Must listen at 1.5 speed. If Eor could speak at 1.5 speed in real life, he’d be president! I listen every day.

Love to listen to the show.
My brother lives in Visalia and has driven route you described to visit me in San Diego. He’s always concerned about the freeway you talk about especially the tulie fog and during the rain. Thank you for your great story telling shows. I really enjoy Them.

Jack has been mumbling more and more like Joe Biden, and this episode I’m listening to now he is wheezing into the mic.

    Love the Wylie Coyote Comparison
The comparison on the December 6th episode was just brilliant. Made me want to go back and rewatch to enjoy all the contraptions sent from “Acme” with a whole new perspective.

    Refreshing and informative
Victor Davis, Hanson show is very refreshing and informative. He doesn’t yell rant rave. He just speaks, matter-of-factly the truth. He draws you in to listen two real logic, real understanding without belittling anyone. The truth always wins, and God bless you, Victor Davis, Hanson for all you do

    Loved your show
I loved your latest show. I am a history buff that enjoys your take on history. I enjoyed your views on the end of the war in the Pacific. My dad was an infantry soldier under Patton. He could have been sent to the Pacific theatre had nuclear weapons not been used to end the war. I do wonder why we went ahead with the invasion of Okinawa when we knew atomic weapons were coming.
  • Darrell OKC
    Thank You Professor Hanson
Thank you for your analysis of the reasoning behind the bombing Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Hearing this reminded me of a story you once told of an exchange your father had with a Japanese American that was arguing against the dropping of the atom bombs. Would it be possible for you to retell the story? Thank you Dan in OKC

    Love/hate
I have loved the show for several years! I follow Mr. Hansen on several different podcast appearances and numerous appearances on TV. I love his books and have been a huge fan for years. But in the last few months, the commercials are overwhelming and long, you have to start about six minutes into the podcast before the show starts, and then all during the show we have these huge commercial breaks. I know you need to make money, but it just makes it unbearable to listen.

    Thank you
Dr. Hanson is a treasure for both good times and bad. When so many “commentators” are ego strokers who give off noise and no light, this podcast is an oasis.

    Thank you!
Loving this show as a native born Californian who has been saddened by many of the changes in our state and culture over the past 50 years. Thank you for your wisdom on our current national events and also your memories of growing up in California - both are greatly appreciated! Thank you as well for recently talking with my son, John, who started Stanford as a freshman this fall. You provided him with great personal encouragement as a young man deeply interested in history who is navigating the current Stanford culture while also enrolled in ROTC Marine Corps. Campus can be isolating for students who are independent in their thought and opinions, so your time and kindness meant a lot to him. With gratitude, Erica

    Bob Woodson
Dr. VDH, You are the Gran Poobah of conservative intellectual discourse, and thank you for your wisdom. Can you comment on Dr. Bob Woodson and his approach in and with the black community ? We never hear you mention Dr. Woodson. Thank You , Scott PS - Gary Oldman is the head of an M5 ‘losers’ group that is hilarious & dramatic in a new show’Slow Horses’ on Apple+ TV (I know, ha). Best show on tv - Gary is like an Archie Bunker version of James Bond !

    Friendships
Doctor Hanson. I really loved your thoughts on Friendship. Friends are the family we choose. I have been blessed with quite a few 40+ year friendships. As you said, they don’t grow without cultivation. If you are in the market for another friend, i would enjoy being yours! Thank you for thoughtful and measured mini lectures on our daily happenings and your history lessons. You are gift to us.

Informative , concise and insightful analysis, the listening experience somewhat degraded by the frequency and length of of the sponsor commercials

    Calm Voice for This Time
I adore VD Hanson, the professor farmer. I never miss a podcast. It brings back memories of office hours with a favorite professor and having his attention in a small group. I listen to a lot of podcasts while I work on my farm because it’s hands free. I listen to a lot of young hosts who are loud and who curse so that I have to cut the volume in front of my elderly mother. Hanson sounds more like a nice, quiet NPR host, but a conservative. I can always listen to Hanson in front of anyone in my family without concern for any offensive language. This podcast is my favorite by far!

    Gaetz vs. McCarthy
VDH: You recently mentioned that you weren’t certain why Matt Gaetz went after Speaker McCarthy. The reasons are because McCarthy broke his promises not to agree to another continuing resolution and reduce spending. Had McCarthy not broken his promises, it’s unlikely that he would have been ousted via the parliamentary procedure he had agreed to in order to secure the Speakership. Fowler
Victor, you need a new “during the week” host. To sit on a podcast with this level of viewership and pitch yourself as a possible ambassador (even in jest) is a stretch. That little diversion derailed the podcast and train of thought regarding cabinet picks by Trump. You are a national treasure and need a top-shelf team (like Sami). Less interjection by him would lead to more time for you. Always love and look forward to your commentary.

    More! More!
I want to thank you, Dr. Hanson, for your clear and concise analysis of current and historical events. You are my go-to resource for analysis and input on historical and political topics. Thank you for your the courage you display in standing firm upon Truth as well as your well-thought-out critiques and opinions on those topics. In a time of insane Leftism you are a clarion call to common sense! Looking forward to what you will have to say TOMORROW! :)

Your new position with the Trump Admin
Dear Victor, I just wanted to give you a heads up, I contacted Donald J. Trump on your behalf and implored him to bring you into his administration. I would expect that you will be hearing from him soon. Your wisdom is a National Treasure in itself. Your Friend, Tom Ferguson

    VDH: A National Treasure
This podcast is superb. VDH is absolutely brilliant and he presents a very intellectual and well reasoned argument to his beliefs. VDH knows more about military history and the Classics than anyone alive today. He uses his extensive knowledge of the past to show us that what we are going through now is not anything unique or special. Plus, he is very calm and even keeled. He is THE best conservative commentator.
  • Momoman#1
    Matt Gaetz
Victor my wife and I love your podcast and respect your opinion very much! BUT!!! I think that you've got it wrong on the Matt Gaetz appointment. Trump will go to the wall for Gaetz. He is singularly equipped to do what is necessary to clean out the nest of vioers that inhabit the Justice Department. And he will do it! Further, I do not share your warm regard for the former House Speaker. He is a snake who sold out the MAGA Movement all to frequently (see existing budget deal). He got what was coming gto him in my humble opinion. Spmetimes creative chaos is necessarry! With the warmest regards, Steve Holly Holly Springs, NC
  • Pamela7644
    Your podcast
Oh my stars? Of all the people President Elect Trump has put fourth for his cabinet may I share my thoughts on the idea of Gaetz as a sacrificial lamb. Do Not allow this to happen! Very bad idea. I, and I think many, want Matt Gaetz in charge of the Injustice Department. I am on pins and needles now about skullduggery within the Trump camp…

    A tiny correction on the 11/19 show…
Love the show, I listen to every episode. From the 11/19 program, it was quarterback Drew Bees’ name you were looking for, not Drew Bledsoe.

Is China a competitor or enemy
Victor, I listen to all your episodes and voted for Trump. But I don’t agree that China is an (de facto) enemy. The “communist” China is “de facto” more capitalistic than the US under Obama/Biden-Harris. To me, Russia is an enemy, China is an economic competitor. These are two different opponents.

    Condolences
My condolences for the 10 years since the death of your daughter. I had heard you mention she died of leukemia but was not aware of the details until your recent podcast. I was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia at the age of 50 four years ago and was told I was young for the diagnosis. It saddens me to know this happened to your daughter at 26.
