DeeSLTeeGreat storytellingEveryone complaining about the involvement of the children makes no sense in this context. The children aren’t toddlers. Their father was absent for pivotal moments in their life and he was lying to them and saying it was for his job. They deserve answers too and can handle the truth. This season was well fleshed out and the story was riveting.

cosm0logyDisgusting example of selfish parents and ridiculous adsI am the daughter of a parent who put me through the trauma of the messy and disgusting details of another parent’s infidelity. Caroline should be ASHAMED of involving her children in her husband’s infidelity. Why did Nicole need to know her father slept with her bully’s mom? What Joel did was horrible, but Caroline only furthered her children’s trauma. She should be protecting them, not using them for de facto group therapy. Truly repugnant. Should they know what happened? Yes, but not the way Caroline did it, as certainly without the gory details. Also, the framing and editing of season 4 is bizarre. None of Joel’s behavior is shocking when they tell you how many times she knew be cheated and lied before Caroline found out he had been having encounters while working. The title should be “breaking news—fork found in kitchen.” Lastly, a psychic hotline ad on a podcast about emotional trauma and betrayal? Disgusting. I cancelled my subscription.

crochet272002Thank youEach episode touches me in ways I can’t put in words but the most recent episodes are really gut wrenching as I am loving them in so many ways thank you to Caroline and her family for sharing so bravely to help people like me that can’t put into words what has happened! Fantasy land really touched me. Something very similar happened when my marriage ended. I’m so sorry for your hurt I truly understand as my husband told me it was always me, even though he cheated repeatedly and kicked me out. I know people don’t understand but older kids deserve the truth it affects them to.

AK AjijicExcellent storytellingThe host is so professional and the episodes are very well planned. The questions must be very organized to have the speakers sound so well and the stories to flow so effortlessly. S4: what is WRONG with this woman?!?! ONE affair would do it for me! This guy is risking his marriage, carrier, life, diseases and she gives him chances? After the FIRST infraction it is HER FAULT Season 2. THERE IS NO REHABILITATION! Thanks for men like him children are kidnapped and held captive. Raped. I’d put him down and sleep Like a baby!!!

DeeMean212Butt Plugs?I get that you have to promote other shows, but couldn't they find another clip? Why do I need to hear about some dude inserting a butt plug in his anus while at the gym? Some decorum, please.

Mariann iTunesAnother betrayed Colorado LEO spouseOur timelines are so similar. I also had a disordered, lying serial cheater cop husband. This is so much more common than anyone knows. And they always seem like “the good guys”. His agency is a playground for dirty people and spouse poachers. He was never caught by them, or they never cared. He lied to his superiors and his family. He also badmouthed me and our marriage. Our family was also blown up in spring of 2022 when he left for his latest affair with a nasty jail nurse. I understand what Caroline is going through. And, yes, grown kids deserve to know the truth. Secret lives are so destructive.

XebrThis Season and the ChildrenThis season makes me extremely uncomfortable, as the mother’s involvement of her children is abusive. You can’t hide everything and pretending can be harmful, but your children are not your therapists and shouldn’t be a part of your vengeance. When the daughter said she asked her father which parks he used to have sex, the podcaster should have stopped the interview and called CPS. Neither parent exhibits boundaries. I hope the mother realizes she’s harmed her children and gets them help. The father’s behavior doesn’t excuse her behavior, and one of these parents needs to step up.
-
colleenbunnyCat & mouseWhy are the children at any age involved in the parent’s marriage? So wrong! How humiliating for Joel.

Blu-ivy’s assistantSeason 4Okay, long time listener here; while I agree with those questioning the mother involving the children in their father's transgressions, I don't agree with the trashing of the whole season with 1 star ratings. You can get the point across that this woman showing her young adult son supposed Facebook evidence of his father's infidelity is suss without negatively affecting the pod's creators. That point doesn't change the quality of what Betrayal produced.

808indahouseCan’t wait for every new episode! This podcast is so good I can’t wait to get in the car to and from work to listen! I can’t wait for each new episodes. I also love that it raises awareness and helps other survivors of betrayal to not feel alone!

Jen K2002Season 4It’s very concerning how the mother involved their children in the adult details! Showing her teenage son a FB message that states her husband/his father was having sex with someone else?! Even having the kids involved in the “family meeting” discussing sexual activity he had. Wow. That’s a conversation for them, not the kids. I’ve liked the other seasons of Betrayal but this one is just strange.
-
ShelbyEscapeno thanksI’ve listened to previous seasons of this podcast and I’ve always liked it but this season has really turned me off. I love the host and she seems to be very professional based on past seasons BUT the fact that the children are SO involved with the parents relationship is gross. Then they are on this podcast to discuss their dad cheating on their mom and confronting him with her - it’s just all really freaking disturbing. Why enable this weird parenting?
-
AlainaGrayBummerOverall I love this show. This season though…for me, the way the children are involved is inappropriate. My mother was so isolated by my father that she involved me in ALL of the infidelity/divorce drama. At the time I was high school/college age, I knew everything(insert eye roll) and was all in. It completely fractured mine and my father’s relationship and I should have never been involved. 20 years later I can say this. I feel so bad for these children. Their dad’s infidelity isn’t a reflection of his parenting. Terrible husband yes but it sounds like they idolized him before this. Sad for everyone.
-
ElzaHaSeason 4Grown children deserve to know the truth. Keeping family secrets is harmful and always comes out. People thinking it’s silly to involve her kids with the truth are delusional. Have some respect for these kids, everyone deserves the truth. Now they can make an informed decision on how they want to move forward with the relationship. He’s dangerous.
-
G$:&2SuggestionI love your show but can not do the f bombs. I bet you’d get alot more listeners if you beeped those words out. I can’t listen anymore bc of this
-
JustAnotherCrimeJunkieDo betterAdvertising for psychics on a show about people being betrayed?

Office in my carPoor kidsThey were reporting and quality of the recording is very professional. But I am disappointed at the decision to cover the story and feel that it is not up to the standards typically produced podcast. I am so disgusted with this woman the way she dragged her children into drama and portrayed herself as a victim. The real victims in all of this are her poor children. This woman is obviously very emotional emotionally immature. I do hope for her adult children at some point they will come to real life that their mother victimize them just as much as their father did.

eva_diva_loveLove that the show has great reporting and that iHeart continues to provide free episodes

PlayfulbunnyGCSeason 4I am a fan of the concept of this podcast and have listened to other seasons. It concerns me that the children were so involved in the adult problems to the degree that they have been so far in this season. I wish the host would at least comment on how the parentification of children has the potential to be damaging in addition the trauma the kids in this season have already suffered (confronting Dad together at the RV park, looking on Dads computer, etc)

CDACastSeason 4: A Triumph of StorytellingSeason 4, which premiered in 2025, elevates the series to new heights. This season follows Karoline Borega, who discovers that her husband, a respected Colorado Springs police officer, has been living a double life, betraying both his badge and their marriage. The narrative is raw, unflinching, and deeply moving, as it follows Karoline’s journey to unravel the truth about her partner of over 20 years. The storytelling is meticulous, balancing Karoline’s personal pain with the broader implications of her husband’s actions, making it both intimate and universally resonant. Andrea Gunning’s hosting is a highlight, bringing empathy and nuance to every episode. Her ability to connect with interviewees—particularly Karoline and others affected by the betrayal—creates a safe space for raw, honest conversations. The inclusion of firsthand accounts, such as those from survivors and community members, adds authenticity and emotional weight, making Season 4 a masterclass in true crime storytelling.

PiedmontVAThis season is a disappointment.Even though adultery is terrible (I’ve been through it), it’s never one sided. This story is so lopsided and the way the wife brings her kids into it - to vilify her husband, just seems morally wrong. She calls a family meeting to spill all her husbands secrets to her kids rather than keep the details private and let them have a semi normal relationship with their father? Ick. No thanks.
-
anilkapgWhy Caroline???The way Caroline involved her children in this drama is so irresponsible and terrifying…very disappointed. The show itself is great.

Ahimsa2013Disappointed by psychic ads!I love this podcast, but was very surprised and deeply disappointed to hear the psychic ads. How can you possibly be supporting these crooks?! There is ZERO evidence that psychic powers are a thing, but PLENTY of evidence of how it is utilized to scam people. Talk about a betrayal to your listeners whom you should be protecting!
-
Everyday.tricotSeason 4 Ads are off baseI’ve loved every season of this show and was super excited when the season 4 trailer came out. I’m only half way through the first episode and might not be able to finish because of how off putting the ads for psychic services are. This show claims to value stories of those that have been wronged, lied to or had their trust broken so I can’t understand why the producers would think advertising a scam service and encouraging listeners to use the service would be a good idea. It’s an AWFUL idea.
-
garyIJonesGreat show, but California Psychics as a sponsor? Girl, no - you can do better.Great show! The only moment of pause came when you supported/promoted an add for California Psychics…. Uhhh what? For me, this really delegitimizes the quality of the show. Please no.

Breeeeee99Great show!ACAB don’t forget it .

Y.t.09870987Betrayal/BetrayedThis new season 4 episode 1 felt a little bit off, with voices of the son at the beginning and the dad sat the end with intro of who they were and also the end didn’t have any closing statements from the mom and /or kids. It. felt like it was cut short or was edited by an intern without /feedback . Also I can understand people being spiritual or believe in all kind of crazy stuff but for goodness’s sake “ The Psychic Network “ ad read by someone in this team is an another betrayal ! I mean might as well read some Nigerian Prince ads while you are at it.
-
StephtfooDisappointed in Ad PartnersThe show has been really enjoyable, but hearing an ad read by the host encouraging listeners to use psychics to help them overcome a betrayal is harmful and exploiting listeners in their most vulnerable moments. I truly hope this partnership is reconsidered, and the show acknowledges the harm caused by associating with such a problematic, exploitative industry. With all the time you’ve spent with victims and experts you should know better than to ever recommend a psychic to victims. I’m just so disappointed.
-
Kitty& Sassy88Woefully misaligned adsLove the show. But tremendously disappointed and confused as to why a podcast about people who’ve been tricked and lied too, often ripped off, would promote an 80s style 1-900 psychic line and actually reference her victims in the ad as a group that would benefit, when she knows these lines to be completely fake, with a history of preying on broken people and damaging them further financially. Really calls into question the legitimacy of any empathy or concern previously demonstrated.

Teon77Great Stories, well doneLater Episodes are excellent and well produced. I really look forward to listening.

9twelveBiasWould be much better without the political bias…

LauraPow613Great show, disappointed in their ethics.I have been following this show from the beginning, and have really enjoyed the thoughtful and gentle way topics are dealt with, but I have to say that all changed for me with this first episode of season 4. Advertising when I am listening to someone’s content does not bother me. I understand the nature of the beast. Sometimes, those ads may come from questionable companies, and the creators don’t always get to control that. BUT- when the creator of the show is the one READING the ad, which also sounds very icky, and makes implications that talking to this scam of a company will help you find “closure and clarity” from a predatory and ethically questionable company (California Psychics) that has actively used predatory tactics to prey on people in the past, I have a problem with it. Please for the love of god, if you are going to have a podcast talking about people being betrayed, maybe don’t read ads for a scam company that takes advantage of others.

Show Time 88Season 4!Absolutely hooked. It’s like Season 1 but with cops. The betrayal is crazzzy.

-
jacqharrillFavorite podcastThis is my favorite podcast and I have been missing the weekly series dearly. There is absolutely nothing else like this, and their extended break has left a void that no other podcast can fill! My only complaint is that I am annoyed by this break and the last several weeks of weird episodes. The original storyteller and creators were awesome, I don’t know what’s going on, but don’t change a thing.
-
PriscillalaurenOne of my favorite podcastsThe stories are so fascinating yet heartbreaking. I’ve listened to every episode and I can’t wait for more in May.

nottodaysatanBBFDAddictingI love that this podcast gives women (and men) a platform to talk about situations that society as a whole typically victim blames so people keep quiet about them. I have related unfortunately and felt comfort knowing I was not alone.

-
podcastappreciatorAndrea GunningAndrea Gunning, thank you and your team. It always takes a village. You are great. The team’s thorough and timely portrayals using firsthand accounts of people who have experienced betrayals are outstanding. Let’s dig into those people who fall outside of the “lines.” Let’s take this further. This is real human experience no matter what… I appreciate this podcast mostly because of those who participate in it which takes courage. I’d like to tell everyone to stop acting like they’re therapists, and if they are therapists they’re still humans susceptible to betrayal, hence this podcast.
-
Lostintranslation🦥More PleaseI’m so addicted to this show! Good to know I wasn’t the only one who fell for the wrong dude.
