I would love to be a guest!
I would love to be a guest on this podcast! I love that’s it’s short and straight to the point. My latest book is still number one on Amazon. How to Teach Your Children About Racism. Looking forward to coming on. ❤️

    Perfect!
Excellent guest list, adept interviews (no cringing here), clean production quality. This podcast is absolutely wonderful... Makes me wish for 20 minutes instead of 10. Thank you! PS. Dear NHPR, I am SO SORRY to hear this podcast has ended! Best of luck in all you do, and please don’t forget “us writers” as you plan your next project. HS 2/4/18

Indispensable! A must listen for writers everywhere.
I cannot reccomend this podcast enough. I find these talks so inspiring, I often start my writings sessions after giving a quick listen or relisten to an episode. I just love the diversity of authors represented throughout all the episodes and of course Virginia Prescott who is not only my favorite voice on the radio, but also has a brilliant candor in her interviews that make it feel like it's all happening right there in your living room. Way to go NHPR! I am proud to call you MY local station.

    My go-to writing podcast
Love listening to the 10-Minute Writer’s Workshop before I write. Inspiring and short, leaves me time to write myself. Loved the Louise Penney interview—I’m a mystery writer and have lately been intrigued by her books. Keep up the good work!!

    Podcast Book Nook
This podcast nestles me into a quiet corner of kindred spirituality, allowing a tapping into my own vein of authenticity amidst our cacophonous society. Ever the late bloomer in nearly all aspects, these conversations do wonders for this aspiring writer with their honesty and diversity. I never tire of glimpses into the lives and circumstances of others, evermore amplified when they are writers. I've much gratitude for the validation of owning our own sliver of space on the broad spectrum of humanity that this show gifts. Being only 10 minutes long, I may soon set aside time for a binge listening session as a sort of reset.

    Best Podcast For Writers
This podcast juices me up on every episode. Wish it came out more frequently, meaning daily. Writers from all levels must give this a listen!

Practical, insightful peek inside the life and tactics of our greatest writers. I take it all to heart, then to the page. Love it!

    Hey, they're like me!
I stockpile several episodes of 10MWW to listen to at once. I stop everything and pay attention to every word spoken. Each time a writer answers a question the same way I would, a little voice in the back of my mind yells out 'Hey, they're like me!'. I love hearing that these wonderful and talented people are human and struggle just as I do. I only wish they released episodes more often.

    For every writer and author
I find these short Q & A sessions a source of tremendous inspiration as a writer and identify with much of what is said in them as an editor and writing coach. If you are working on a novel or nonfiction book, you should have this podcast set up to listen to every time you are in your car. If you listen to them all, start again from the beginning! Keep yourself inspired. :-)

    Delightful and inspiring!
I really love this podcast. I recently began writing a book about my work (more out of necessity than a desire to be a "writer"), and I've been delighted and amazed by how different each of these writers approach his/her craft - their different habits and distractions. Indeed, writing is a solitary experience, so it's fun to write my book along with these other writers...

    Inspirational, interesting & fun
I enjoy the format of this short and sweet podcast. I anxiously await new episodes to be released, and look forward to the answers each unique author gives for the same set of great questions. It's engaging and inspires me to write more often. I recognize many authors but have learned about new writers too. Keep up the great work! Would love to hear a new episode every day!

    The best
Am inspired every time i listen, which is often more than once a day. Whether the writers being interviewed have the exact same advice as each other or the exact opposite, the insight is invaluable. Feeling connected to a gigantic consortium even as I sit alone with my paper and pen and all my words.

    A home run!
This is a great podcast for writers and avid readers alike. Each episode is very short (10 minutes, obviously!), and follows a tidy format: Host Virginia Prescott starts by asking the guest writer what's harder, first or last sentences. From there the interview takes shape organically, if at a somewhat rapid-fire pace, and always wraps around to the same closing questions. What I like best is seeing what many writers from diverse backgrounds and working in different genres have in common, and what insight and habits seem to be guided by individual experience and personality. It's an informative and friendly show; highly recommended!

    Great Pick-me-Up
I love to listen to this while making lunch after a long morning of writing. It re inspires me. I also love the fact that, although they interview a lot of *WRITERS*-- Pulitzer Prize winners, National Book Award winners . . . You know *WRITERS*, they also interview writers -- genre writers, journalists, even catalog writers and cartoonists. It reminds me that all of us who put down words to be read by people we don't know are part of the club. Hope they keep it up!

The Perfect Podcast for Aspiring Authors
This podcast is the ideal dose of inspiration for writers. The interesting and encouraging interviews offer sound bits of writing wisdom. I also love the length. They're short, so don't distract too much from writing itself. I only wish there were more episodes!

    My Favorite Writing Podcast
I love everything about the show, from the caliber of the guests to the quality of the questions, to the fact that there is no wasted time at all. I love that the guests have such diverse answers - there is no one way to write! Thanks for putting together such a quality podcast.

Not a writer, but I love this podcast!
Don't be fooled by the name, this podcast isn't just for writers. It's inspiring to hear how creative people make stuff. Really great guests offering great insight. It's inspirational.

Immediately became one of my favorite podcasts
I'm so glad this simple but inclusive podcast was recommended to me by a writer friend. Quick, inspiring, entertaining; more episodes please!

    Not Bad
With the same handful of questions asked in each episode, this podcast will never go as in-depth as I would prefer, and it lacks the discursive style of podcasts I truly love. The title is also a bit of a misnomer since there aren't really any elements of a writing workshop. It's more about the habits of art, but that's actually the part I really like about this podcast—just being exposed to the variety of ways that different writers approach their craft. At ten minutes every other week, it's well worth the minimal time investment it demands.

    Just perfect
I absolutely love it. Engaging host, encouragement from the pros, and a reminder that we're all humans working at this. What more could a writer, or would be writer, ask for in a podcast? Thank you NHPR!

    Love Love LOVE this podcast!
A great podcast for aspiring writers. Quick, easy-to-listen to, and fun. Hear how professional writers all tackjle the process of writing, but in a fun and informative way. As a writer, I often listen to hear that famous authors have similar processes to me, which is very reassuring! I highly recommned it to any aspiring writers!

    Good to Know
While each episode has the same questions, each speaker has something different to say. This information can be helpful for any writer and especially aspiring writers. These interviews are short and sweet, easy to listen to, and I will wait in excitement for each new episode.

    Not Just for Writers
Loving this podcast! It's quick and funny and encouraging to hear that even established writers struggle with distraction and confidence and sabotaging thoughts. Inspiring for any creative person. We all get knocked down and have to learn to get back up.

    An inoculation for self doubt
Any writer or would-be writer would benefit from listening to this podcast. There's no wrong way to write, the only right way is your own way. Just take it from these published authors who all differ so much from one another in their methods and each get distracted by emails. These 10 minute podcasts amount to volumes of overwritten Writer's Digest interviews in a condensed, easy to digest format.

    I don't have one.
I feel like I am listening to The Actors Studio when I hear this 'cast. I mean this in the nicest way. It matters that we hear the writers' voices in every sense. I love the entreaty to "be gentle with your characters and don't judge them". I love "letting the unconscious speak". I also like the idea of prayer candles (but I end up inadvertently setting things on fire and I cannot be trusted with them). It seems like great fun to do this work.
  • Mo_Poppins
    Process in pill form
I love these short interviews that give us insights into each writer's process. Every writer is different, and NHPR does a great job of selecting a variety of writers from different genres. The length of the podcast is perfect--like a little snack...or a Costco sample that keeps us wanting to go back for more. (Just wanted to add that at this time, Google doesn't rank this podcast very high. It's hard to find it by copying and pasting the title of the episod, and even after I add the title of the podcast, it still doesn't rank. I don't know if the reason is due solely to its current popularity, but when I go to my browser to share this podcast to Pinterest, it's not easy...)
