Do these guys even like movies?
They defend the confederacy more than they defend even slightly challenging scenes/ directors. One of the hosts always watches these with groups of friends and laughs through the entirety? Very weird for a film podcast. The guests are always excellent, but they often end up in the role of informing the hosts what they missed, or why these films are important in both the Catholic canon and film history in general. I keep listening though, so I’ll give them 4 stars

    A rare gem.
Man, I’m not the type to lend an ear to ANY podcast or show where people that aren’t my friends and I are discussing art of any kind, but I found this show from an accidental Google search for Andrei Tarkovsky and I'm grateful to God for guiding me towards this show! These two are intelligent and as a Catholic man myself, I'm very happy that the bias overall is in favor of our Lord and I appreciate lens being adjusted for those of us whom love film and our Blessed Lord. I really wish more of secular society would be introduced to the profundity and unrivaled artistic brilliance of the Catholic faith like this show exudes. I love these dudes and will binge-listen all episodes starting tonight. God Bless you guys!

    Little Women and a suggestion
I actually enjoyed your podcast about Little Women! I was wondering if you could have a podcast about “The Trip to Bountiful “, starring Geraldine Page. I don’t know if this movie is on the Vatican film list, but it is a good movie and I think others would benefit from hearing what you think about it. Thank you!

    Excellent
I listen to many podcasts and the quality of this one is nearly astonishing. You need not be Catholic or particularly interested in film to enjoy these extremely intelligent, multi-faceted examinations. If you are Catholic, you will appreciate that aspect as well, as both hosts are extremely well-versed in the faith. The Dekalog episodes are especially insightful. The films provoke contemplation and their thoughtful analysis by the hosts enhances each even further. The Gone With The Wind episode was also thorough and smart - as long as the listener is not burdened by a childish or “progressive” mindset that disallows the consideration of the human dimension in every story. This podcast is excellent and it is purposeful beyond mere entertainment or film criticism. Thank you and please continue to produce it.

    Gone Listener with the Wind
Their attitude towards the backdrop of Gone With the Wind is completely off putting and horrible. If this is the type of attitude that is being shared, I suggest to look elsewhere.

    Great New Podcast
Criteria is one of several great offerings in Catholic Culture.org’s Podcast department. As someone who is newer to viewing films with an artistic eye, instead of just for entertainment, it is really enjoyable to listen to and learn from the two host’s journey through the Vatican film list. Their camaraderie is evident and they keep the discussions jovial, but also insightful both artistically and theologically. Definitely one to check out if you are interested in Catholicism, Film and Art and how they intersect!

    Enjoyable & Insightful
This is one of the most enjoyable podcasts I follow, lively and engaging conversations with insightful guests about what makes these films enduring works of art and how they pertain to the Catholic faitht. If you're new to the pod, the "Man for All Seasons" episodes are a good place to start as it's one of the most popular Catholic films and is easy to find. Catholic Culture Podcasts has a lot to offer in their lineup of shows. There's not a lot in the way Catholic culture where I live, these pods import more than a little into my life and broaden my horizons.

    Unsubscribing
After the Gone with the Wind discussion, I have to unsubscribe. It was really gross to listen to. The sort of apologetic attitude toward the Confederacy by a bunch of white men is one of the most tone deaf conversations I’ve heard in a long time. Comments like, sure slavery was bad, but some slaves went on vacation with their owners so how bad could it be? Really?! Or some people weren’t pro slavery but they inherited them and then freed them when they died. Really?! Lamenting the lost “civilization” of the South? Really?! I also was not surprised to hear near the end that one of you owns a Confederate flag. Was Lincoln a better president than Jefferson Davis? Sorry, I choose the anti-slavery president every time, regardless of whatever else I might disagree with. The sad thing is I’m sure you don’t even think you’re racists. This is why people are so upset.

    Love it!
This is such a great idea for a podcast. Listening to the intro episode was so enjoyable! Funny and intellectually stimulating. I can’t wait to watch these movies alongside the hosts. Good project for quarantine!
