Stagefright1020Edifying and Often HilariousI love this podcast. Some of the more famous Catholic podcasts out there are good, but terribly long and I never have the time to listen. Then I was suggested Godsplaining, with nice half hour episodes, and I fell in love! Hosted (on a rotating basis) by 5 Dominican friars who joined the order together, the conversations they have are both so edifying and filled with joy and humor. When they tackle serious subjects they do so with grace and bright light to difficult teachings or cultural situations. I love their choice of topics, and often find myself scrolling through their back catalog and finding something perfect for whatever situation I’m facing in life. Thanks for all you do!

koreansyklonesTerrific content, love their banterThese guys are my favorite—so comfortable to listen to and I lean a lot each time.

65econDivorce episodeVery unfair to divorced Catholics. Both I and my husband are Catholics ( clearly he no longer is). He had a seven year affair and left me and our children and divorced me when I forgave his infidelity and now you say I can’t have an annulment… insane. Hate to break it to you he isn’t coming back home because he’s not a good person obviously and currently lives with the evil person whom he had a 2nd home with during our 21 year marriage. Do better.

Anais CastilloLove it !!!Very good podcast !!!!! The episodes I have listened to have been very fruitful in my life! Grateful to these men who give up their life for the church! God bless them!
-
JillianBHarrisMom mental renewal!I’m a mom to several young children, and this is my favorite podcast to listen to. I love the range of topics from the lighthearted to the thought provoking. I always walk away having learnt something and with reflections to ponder. The Church loves its priests! Good work, brothers.
-
FrassatiRoseFun FormationI love listening to y’all! Your episodes and lessons on the Christian life, good humor, and Dominican spirituality have helped me a lot this year as I prepare to join the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia in August, thanks be to God! Thank you for your witness and message. You are in my prayers. Ave Maria!

cem510Podcast on animal sufferingI enjoy all these podcasts, but I am especially grateful for the podcast on animal suffering. I suffer when I see animals in pain, although I do believe animals are food for us, also. I agree that it makes us more human when we act as true stewards and care for them, as long as we have Jesus as our center & prioritize our brothers and sisters in Christ. Thank you for discussing this topic as it is very important to me.

Rootiekazoo🕊🕊🕊A Blessed Lenten season to all worldwide. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Did y’all notice how the “splaining” in the title of this Podcast is highlighted? Reminded me immediately of that quote from “I Love Lucy.” You’ve God some “splaining to do Lucy.” 😂💜🙏🏻 #Joy Happy Saint Patrick’s Day to all, teehee, teehee, teehee. Thank you, Jesus, “I trust in you.” 😂🙏🏻❤️. Set ourselves apart. God loves us all indeed. Strive for the greatness in striving together. God-splaining;) Fr. Timothy Gallagher, and Fr. Gregory Pine Join us this week as Fr. Gregory Pine welcomes Fr. Timothy Gallagher. The show for a new installment of God Splaining…. Thank you Dear God the knowledge these beautiful men teach us through your spirit. We love you all. Grateful and thankful.

mjharryfanEveryone needs to send Fr. Bonaventure a live toad right nowLove the combination of wit, humor, and solid theology (and discussion of toads). Would give 10 stars if possible.

loldollyGrateful for this podcast!I enjoy this podcast very much. It’s such a wonderful way for me to ground myself on those days when I’m struggling. To listen to others who share in my faith and accept it as the gift that it is, is important to me. Plus, I learn a lot about why we as Catholics do what we do. And, most importantly, the gentle reminder that faith is just that, there’s not always complete answers to every questions we might have, and that’s more than ok.
-
143LisaGreat combinationWow.. he took the time to weave a whip out of cords. Yes, perfect example of Gods timing if I’ve ever heard one!!! Fr Bertrand and Fr Gregory are the perfect combination
-
AMKINNCThank you!!Thank you for this wonderful episode on Pope Benedict and for the recommendations on his writings! Blessings!
-
andhigginsDid Not Treat the “Blessing” Document SeriouslyApart from immediately pivoting to general questions from listeners not at all related to the subject of the episode itself, at no point did either take issue with the ambiguity of the document, particularly in the use of the term “couple”, not in any way address that a Catholic priest being seen “blessing” a gay couple at least appears like an endorsement, if not official recognition. Why else would anyone ask for the blessing?
-
carolinejudithramirezTheology Without a HeadacheI have always loved learning about theology, morality etc but in college it was often too ivory-tower-superfluous-academia-esque. Then while turning to the internet, lots of more academic videos are more just “gotcha” and “get owned” debates. Godsplaining is neither of those things, which I really respect. Sure, when talking about the transcendental things can get wonky as always. But I have really enjoyed listening to Godsplaining, as I can still keep up with the conversation and ponder some really deep stuff. Five stars.

Dominican Fan BoyAwesome podcastLove the podcast not just because of its vast range of topics related to faith life, but more the dynamic and playful friendship between the hosts. The dad jokes and random millennial references surely are a plus for me. I would love to hear a podcast specifically on sports and how it serves as a secular liturgy sometimes (I’m thinking of Super Bowl sunday as the Easter vigil for many fans). The guests are also great and provide great introduction to topics that are not as familiar for me. Keep the shows coming!
-
Cassidy W.Greatness episodeThis episode spoke to my soul in exactly what I have been struggling with. Thank you for being great and sharing your knowledge you are impacting souls!

B Hicks & the boysSo blessed through this podcastI want to give a heartfelt thank you for the work you guys do! So happy I and so many more get to benefit from the fruits of your contemplation. I had quite a bit of St Thomas in college but having this to add to figure out how to learn to live out what I’ve learned is such a blessing! Keep up the good work! Sending prayers! Dominicans Rock!

Hugh Janus Jr.Food for the soul (and the journey)Godsplaining providers intelligent conversations, witty banter (without distracting from the substance of the topic), and plenty of food for thought. Every friar on this show invokes the spirit of St. Thomas Aquinas by drawing careful distinctions. I’d especially recommend it to Catholics seeking an entry point to some of the key philosophical underpinnings of the faith. I would also recommend it to seekers of truth, as they would find plenty of it here presented in a charitable manner. Excellent all around.
-
MarieJoanThereseThe Dumb Ox Must’ve LaughedThis podcast is entertaining, enjoyable, and encouraging. It is my go-to podcast when I’m working on a big sculpture or project. These Dominicans and their guests are a wonderful example of the joy found in Christ-centered friendships, and “charity grows by being communicated”. Keep up the good work!

Chris8650So smart, so funny, so holyKeep doing what you’er doing. I’m playing catch-up and listening back to beginning I’m learning so much!

24333000177599Still thinking about the episode a week laterThe Kazuo Ishiguro episode is thought provoking. The Well-Read Mom chose The Remains of the Day as one of their selections for Year of the Giver and I shared this episode with all of our local members. The godsplainers fleshed out the difference between what happens and then how we think about it, in a way that makes me wonder what is the purpose of memory, and to pray even more fervently for mine to be healed. I have so many questions! Please do an episode on memory.
-
Ajay 55Foolish, sillyReceived a fundraising flyer in the mail so decided to check out what make Dominicans such a treasure. Listened to the first 8 mins of “Do Souls Have Genders” and couldn’t stand anymore. Foolish, silly and a waste of time. If this is the best I don’t need to hear anymore.
-
LaMay70What a Gift!Love these guys. Informative and funny, esp. Fr. Pine.
-
JennHeffernanGets me through my workouts and gets me through day!Perfect length and accompaniment for my daily workout, and the content (far more importantly) nourishes and strengthens me for daily combat. This podcast is a big grace in my life.
-
Steph FischerMy favorite Catholic podcastThank you Lord for these wonderful priests! With so much division and negativity in our culture, it is especially refreshing to hear these good men giving laypeople advice about living a holy life and following Christ through his Church in a positive way that isn’t intimidating or harsh. They do a great job following Jesus’s example of “my yoke is easy and my burden is light”. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and time with us!
-
MarilynMM17Prof. WardThank you for this interview. It would be helpful if you included your guests websites/book info. Thank you Fathers for your vocation.
-
Nolagirl1221Dominican toast of Praise!I was educated at Dominican High School but never to the depth that these wonderful men provide! I keep coming back for not only their knowledge but also their humility and humor!! Thank you! A great listen and keep up the great work of spreading the gospel by all means!

WestDonegansThe Sound of God’s VoiceAmidst the noise and chaos of the media world comes clarity, hope, direction, and challenge to grow into the human person God made me to be. Spiritual nourishment of the finest vintage.

MJay17Truth and fun while following the LordAn amazing podcast with unmatched hosts and a wide variety of content. The scriptural reflections during some seasons of the year might be my favorite, but it’s hard to choose. Dominicans saved my life by helping re-convert me, and this podcast continues to teach me the Truth that is God and draw closer to Him. Listen. Pray for these friars. Share with friends. It matters who you think; this’ll help you think better.
-
Railer89Dominican excellence.Feel you’re tiptoeing through the minefield that is everyday life? Let these Dominican priests show you how and where to step; led, of course, by Our Lord Jesus Christ. Each episode is like a personal spiritual direction meeting and the friars have some fun while dispensing solid Dominican guidance. Listen and learn.

HDG185Truthfulness, clearly spokenThank you.
-
Aaron St. PierreThank you!Episode 158 helped me immensely! Thank you for your love of the Lord and desire to share His wisdom and mercy. In my discernment of the married life and discernment of my wife I had many influences who led me to become overly scrupulous. This episode brought immense clarification to the confusion of that period of my life and brought a wave of peace that brought a tear to my eye. God does speak to us, thank you!
-
GuitarGal322All but one5 stars for every episode except the recent guest episode with Leah Darrow. I think people should steer clear of those who hand out advice about spiritual growth without credentials. Just because you're pretty doesn't mean people should trust you with their soul. Similarly, just because she's cute doesn't mean she will be an articulate and appropriate guest. I have loved every other episode but I wish this one was left on the floor of the editing room.
-
a_dumb_oxThe only good Catholic podcast that is not jimmy akin’s mysterious world or the thomistic instituteI like how bizarre everyone speaks (in a good way) and how happy they seem. I learned of the hillbilly thomists because of it which I am grateful for. This podcast has a lot of care and heart which I also appreciate. If I could offer one word of criticism it would be thus: do more of the literature episodes they are fun. Overall, this podcast is good for an occasional listen if I need cheering up. Thanks so much for making them I really appreciate what you do and though I am too young to decide or think about my future in any meaningful way, it makes me want to become a Dominican one day.
-
The MainspliceSmart and wittyI enjoy the love and banter between the Friars. They teach with intelligence and humility. This is a great resourse for popular level Thomistic teachings.
-
becksdoodleCheers allWho the heck are the people that gave anything other then 5 stars??? The content is above everything!

CBZallesIlluminating!Love the podcast! Learn so much every time I listen. Deep subjects are breached with humor and such sound doctrinal foundation Thank you and God bless your work and calling!
-
HoustonensisThoughtful, Funny, and DevoutThe hosts excel at delivering discussions on various topics through a Catholic lens. Whether they are meandering through theology, current events, philosophy, cinematography, or music, the Dominicans serve as approachable, faithful advocates of the true, the good, and the beautiful.
